I somehow missed this thread but, I support this.
In ME2 when romanced, Thane had finally stopped defining himself with his own death and wished for a life with Shepard.
In ME3, his illness is the only thing one can speak to him about. That isn't good writing.
His death is logical when you did not romance him.
As someone who almost lost my mother to stroke ten years ago, and had to watch her come to terms with the scars left behind by the stroke, and finally see her accept that no, she was not defined by her illness.
I really did not need this game to be reminded of the time when I was helpless to aid my mother.
And to my Shepard it would have meant everything to have Thane by her side when she faces the Reapers.
Just like it mattered to those with Liara to have "blue babies", and building Tali a house on the homeworld, Thane's life mattered to me.
And I will not give up. Ever.
Me either! I've been tweeting like crazy and check my sig for the facebook page. I miss him. My Shep misses him.

Like I've said many times already, it isn't the death of Thane itself that has many fans mad, it's the way that his romance was completely reduced to nothing.
For a Shepard who is only friends with him, I think Thane was okay. But NOT for a Shepard who romanced him.
There are many posts before this one that give you more details about why and how, so I suggest you read those.

I won't give up on Thane, either. It doesn't hurt to keep trying. If we scream loud enough, maybe BioWare will finally hear.
Yes!
This thread's been able to keep on the first two pages for almost a week now. IF they ever come in here it's not like they can miss seeing us...

Couldn’t have said it better myself. This is exactly what it is about.

Heh heh...definitely on board for the first. As for the second, as I like to say when I give my seal of disapproval, "look I think so highly of that line of thought, I'm putting up my You're Number One finger."
