The bad thing about not doing anything is that unhappy people talk. Common retail saying "If you made one person unhappy, you just made 10 people unhappy". People, for whatever reason, seem to pay attention more to negitive feedback then positive. Might turn off people that would think about buying a BioWare title, or at least another Mass Effect title, who might've otherwise.
I'm sure some people are saying "But it's ART! You can't change ART!" Oh, yeah. I do agree, the ME series is a work of art alright. However, it is also a product. Even Renissance era artists had to cater to the tastes of their patrons, or they'd find themselves kicked out to the curb. No patrons, no money. No money, no art.
Now, like the title says, it should be -alternate- endings. Keep the old ones in. I fully recognize that there are folks out there that like the ending. They can keep them. Have no problem with that. Make the alternate endings for the people that hate the current endings.
Ending supporters get to keep theirs. Ending haters get new ones that hopefully make them happy, and feel that BioWare -does- care, and they'll spout on to everyone how awesome they are that they do. Win-win, everyone's happy (or, more
realistically, most are happy, some are merely appeased, and you're going to have
people that aren't happy no matter what BioWare does).
