Yes. I am sick of having her shoved down my throat when so many other likeable characters are cast aside.

I did not like the fact that I HAD to hug her in ME2. I hated the fact that I had no right to call her off for giving my body to Cerberus and for being a creepy stalker. I hated the fact that she ninjamanced me (ok, granted, not her fault on that one, option was bugged) in ME1.

I'd like to choose if I want to be friends with her or not. But I can't. Then again, same with Garrus.

But her... too much screentime actually made me hate her. I didn't mind her at first. But too much is too much. The last flashback was the last strike.

It's a shame because I am certain she IS an interesting character. I just can't stand her anymore.

You know you can totally call her out for giving your body to Cerberus in ME2, didn't you have that conversation with her?  Shepard gets EXTREMELY pissed if you choose the option and you get in a big fight!

Right. A big fight. One nasty word from Shep and then Liara proceeds to say "If I hadn't done it, you'd be dead!".
Shep can't say a thing to that. Gets back to being all nice and polite. Why?

Well, would you prefer be dead? lol I mean if she bothers you THAT much, you can just skip her dialogue options and never bring her on missions.

Actually, yes, I would rather be dead than being a sick experiment by Cerberus. And I am aware that I can skip her conversations. That doesn't prevent the fact that I would have liked to interact more with other characters. And that I have to be friendly with her on most occasions.

No offense, but if you'd really rather be dead after ME1, maybe you should have just quit with that game.  And come on: we're not talking Jar Jar Binks as canon squadmate here. I find it hard to believe that having to be friendly to a character you aren't especially fond of is THAT detrimental to the game. I do agree with you that more squadmate conversations would have been a nice thing, though.

I don't mind I like Liara (infact I romanced her since Ash was kind of a bigot about aliens I found in ME1) and if she's not your type of character for say a LI then just go with Tali. Although personally some of the people from ME2 I wouldn't have minded to have more than just a cameo at times I mean we don't even get a Kurgon this time through as a squadmate or a Salarian. I mean that one character that goes 'hold the line' I would have loved to have that guy in my squad.

None taken. :)
Not the point. The fact that I can't call her off on the whole body-given-to-Cerberus thing breaks my immersion. Of course I, as a player, am happy that Shep is still kicking, I wouldn't be able to play if she wasn't. But Shep herself? Nope.
She doesn't completely *ruin* my experience of the game, of course not. I just hate it when I have to talk to her. I don't like her personality, I don't like her voice acting. She's just there for me.

Am I not allowed to dislike her character?

Of course. I mean everyone is going to have their favorite characters and the ones they didn't like so much.  I remember during ME2 that some people really liked Miranda, others absolutely hated her and wanted to superman punch her in the face.  I'm all for choices; if you had the choice to be mean to Liara and shut her down, I'd try it through one of my playthroughs. My argument is, I don't think the fact that she is the token "spokesperson" in-game for the ME universe makes her an annoying character.  She is just filling a role that most immersive stories have, and it's way easier to do with one character (thus more time) than using a whole bunch.

For me it's ok that she has dialoque, is main pratagonist in one of the comics etc... but I wouldn't mind if other characters got as much dialoque as her. Comparing Jack/Thane/Jackob romance to Liaras... it's a big difference.

I see your point. My main problem, I think, is that I didn't really like her from the start. Didn't hate her, just... she was kinda there. But the more things evolved, the more I disliked her. Not my fault, not hers. I'm certain she has an appeal. I just don't see it and it irritates me. Can't help it.
It does make sense, I admit, that Bioware chose a character to fill that role. Unfortunately for me, I happen to hate said character.

Its clear Liara was intended to play a vital role throughout the trilogy from the very beginning. It really isn't surprising she has so much dialogue and screen.

That's how I felt about Counselor Deana Troi in Star Trek: TNG. Don't know if you're familiar with the show: she is basically the person that indirectly explains all the science to the viewers. But she got more and more annoying and became more of a "captain obvious" as the series went on.  I mean, it wasn't enough that I didn't want to watch the show, but she was definitely my least favorite character, so I see where you're coming from.

I admit I've never seen the show. But yeah, that pretty much describes my feelings.
Thank you for the discussion. ^_^

As far as what I find personally attractive, Tali's personality is unbeatable.  However, I really enjoyed Liara's character growth throughout the 3 games, and I did like her romance plot also.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Liara is the only teammate across all three games who cannot die. So from a developer perspective, it makes sense to include her in more missions and dialogue. If the developer includes any teammate who could have been killed in a previous game, then the developer has to recreate those scenes with a backup teammate. And recreating those scenes (graphics, voice acting, motion capture etc.) is a resource issue - time and money.

I think this is the main reason we see so much of Liara in ME3. Not that it's a bad thing - I like her character.

Liara is not a personal favourite of mine, but I thought that most of her scenes were great. Instead of less of her, I would have preferred more of my own favourites. :-)  But we did get a fair bit of most characters, so I suppose ME3's virtue is just that it leaves us wanting more greatness!

And yes, why isn't there any opportunity to kill Liara off? About every other squad mate from ME1 and ME2 can die at one or another point as far as I can tell.

Makes me think that whatever Bioware's planning for DLC will have even more forcefully stuffed Liara...

Because all other characters are expendable... Deal with it, don't hate

This is a point I wanted to make. Well said.

Personally, I didn't feel there was too much of anybody, just that there was not enough of some.

I didn't really like her in the first game - though I like how she has matured.

She was best in TLotS imho

I can get that Liara is important to the plot and shows up often. Would have been nicer if she was an extra squaddie, not a replacement for when she was important though.

However, I didn't like her inclusion in the flashback montage with Joker and Anderson. She wasn't more important than my other crewmates since I didn't romance her, so that she got the scene when the others (and most importantly, my LI) didn't was very annoying and immersion breaking. For those who did romance Liara, it makes perfect sense and feels natural. I don't want to ruin that for them. But I would have preferred similar treatment for the other LIs and squadmates.

I thought it should have been LI, Anderson and who ever. Not even sure about Joker really. Maybe Garrus as his pretty much Shepards best friend.

If it serves any good, Liara doesn't come out of the Normandy in my ending. It's Joker, Tali and Javik (5000+ EMS Destroy ending with Tali as LI).

So there you go. I finally managed to kill the blue b*tch! :D
