I am a huge Liara fan, but I did feel let down by the lack of story with everyone else. I felt like the amount of time we got with Liara was appropriate, just the amount of time with everyone else was subpar, especially the characters we met in ME2.

She has to come with you on 3 missions. She comes into your cabin without permission twice (even when Shepard is sleeping), if your don't romance the VS then her blue heads comes in your flasback and if you talk with her "father" then she calls you her boyfriend/girlfriend. Ahh! I don't hate her but she gets way too much attention from Bioware.

I didn't mind her being in it so much as she was MIA in ME2 for most of it. The thing I didn't like is I always had this feeling of "weirdness" between us due to only wanting to be friends even if the imported saves had no past romances with her. It felt like they were "pushing her at me" or something. It is a little hard to explain but she definitely made me uncomfortable.

And in ME3, they still get taken out of the game for the first portion

Even though I liked Liara and she's my LI... yeah she was around an awful lot. Maybe it was to make up for her not being in 2 barely at all though.

I really like Liara's character, but it's a bit odd for her to take up more space in the story than your LI (if you picked someone else). My LI choice was Jack so my preference would have been to see a bit more of her. However I was ultimately fine with how it worked out.

Liara is about the only one that you know can not die in ME1 and ME2 (as far as i know). So Bioware knows that she will be in every players playthrough. I think that is why they gave her so much room in ME3. If they give her lots of dialogue and involvement in the key plot then they know that all players is guaranteed to not miss it. But this is of course just my speculations.
