I think all the squadmates needed more conversations, I mean it's okay for us that know Ash, Kaidan, Garrus, Liara, Tali and all, but new players wont really connect to these characters I feel with not getting to know much about them. No need to go over old stuff we alread know, but add more info.
That's what it's a trilogy for. If you can't be bothered to pick up the first two installments, then you should be feeling a little confused about why your protagonists has certain relationships and does certain things in the plot. At least, that's how I feel when I accidentally pick up a book and realize it's part two or three of a series.

I did notice that the auto-dialogue from the VS and others were terrible.

Writer's Pet is obvious writer's pet. :|
Which is pretty damn depressing as I was okay with her in ME1. DX

Due to this, except for those that chose her as LI, nearly nobody likes her and wishes she could be killed with fire.
It isn't the case of about any other squadmate (bar James and Jacob?) which people love in general, or at least sympathyze with, regardless if they're LI or not. BioWare screwed it up with their stupid writer's pet.

On the other hand, there wasn't enough of any character except EDI and Thane. Everyone else just felt like we got to see way too little of them, including the minor side characters. I felt satisfied with EDI and Thane though, if nothing else. Maybe Jack too, I feel she got some of the best development between games.

When I played through it first I figured as my LI this was why she kept showing up. But having found out she turns up ALL the time, I can see how it would be annoying, and I'm rather disappointed that all the intimate scenes with Liara were just copy-paste jobs
Rather copy and paste than nothing at all, eh.

I am a huge Liara fan, but I did feel let down by the lack of story with everyone else. I felt like the amount of time we got with Liara was appropriate, just the amount of time with everyone else was subpar, especially the characters we met in ME2.
even though this quote is a month old, it sums up exsactly how i feel about the game
except there was way to much vega, infact any vega is to much

We just need more of the other characters in general.

Agree here. The characters overall needed far more development, including Liara. Liara is only really noticeable because the other characters got so so little.
I did like Thane's appearance though. Although it sucks for people who romanced him, as a friend of my Shepard it was a reasonable amount of facetime.
I just think too many characters' lines got canned for 'more banter' or those annoying in-between mission lines.
