Origin: Dalish Elf
Difficulty: Normal, then Hard in the lategame.
class: Rogue
Specialty: Duelist
Character Archetype: Swashbuckler. Focus on single one-handed weapons, cunning trickery, and wordplay as lethal as swordplay
Gimp Level: Relatively low
Dexterity Hotfix? Yes

For the beginning of the game, I focused exclusively on getting daggers, as they had decent armor penetration (I need every damage point I can score here) and gain the most benefit from dex of any melee weapon. I immediately focused almost solely on dexterity and cunning, putting points into the rogue feats only, even saving feats until the next level up. The beginning was without a doubt the most difficult part of the game, as Alistair isn't much of a tank yet and couldn't hold aggro very well. Luckily there was usually Sten or Dog to take the heat off of my rogue, or CC them with Morrigan or Dog.

Purely for the sake of switching things up, went with Morrigan as a mix between DPS and Healing, Alistair on the tanking, and Dog as melee DPS. Once I was able to apply cunning to my melee damage score instead of Str, the game quickly became a lot easier. I focused on longswords merely to fit in with the theme of the character I was using, and there was generaly one available that was good enough not to require me switching to other single-handed weapons. The Duelist and Rogue bonuses, unlike DW and Archery (obviously), don't really seem to care about what weapons you have equipped, so they were always an option while I backstab like a fiend.

In the lategame, through enchantments (:wizard: ) and rampant sidequesting, gear and level was generally high enough that nothing seemed to be siginificantly more difficult this time around. Though I have no idea how well this would be able to work on Nightmare mode. Dodge bonus, thanks to dexterity, was high enough that catching aggro wasn't an issue as long as the tank was around to take the brunt of it, ad through rather liberal use of poisions, I was able to make up for the decreased damage output with other useful effects. So it was interesting from a roleplay perspective, levelling was actually easier because I never had to worry about a balance between class-specific and weapon feats... and a little bit of planning and waiting was required, but all in all the experience wasn't too significantly different from normal gameplay.

Debating between unarmed warrior or unarmored rogue for the next run.

Also Bioware, implement a single-weapon tree pleeeeeease?
