There are in game moments where Vega reminds me of my brothers I served with back in the day.

Vegas interaction on the shuttle cut scene with Liara is a stand out moment for that character. He tries to explain to Liara that to function in combat, you have to compartmentalize your feelings to get the job done.

First I disliked Vega, then i started to feel he was not so bad, either way i almost never used him, but hes OK

Only real reason i have for disliking him is I can think of other ME2 characters I would have rather had.

hated vega, some stupid meathead,

mass effect 3 really needed a batarian, drell, or krogan.

I thought I'd hate Vega but I ended up liking him a lot. I still would trade him for Jack or my krogan baby Grunt, but if I had to have a human male on the squad I'm glad it was him. He has loads more personality than the other two. I also like the way he called my Shepard 'Lola'. It seems like that was a sticking point for some people, but I thought it was cute and flattering.

I particularly liked the fact that he was getting along well with my favorite, Garrus. Garrus/Vega/Joker bromance forever!

Hmm. Whatever I might think about him, Buffy is having his babies. Respect.

Well, I'd rather have him than Miranda or Thane or Zaeed or Kasumi or Grunt or Jacob or Samara. I'd choose anyone else I didn't mention over him, but he's okay. I didn't like his nonstop flirting, though; I just wanted him to shut up.

Did not care for him, thought he was boring.  That, and Vega is supposed to be mexican, Prinze did not even seem to make an effort to sound mexican.

You humans are all racist!  :alien:

He wasn't even an alien or supersoldier. Just some alliance grunt who doesn't wear alliance uniform on duty. Way to introduce a new character too, bioware. Jenkins had a far better intro ffs.

I like Vega, it's a funny character. People tends to make prejudices instead of really knowing about the character. Try to pick Vega at all missions, there are some good moments.

Hey, I like James Vega, he's just not one of my favourite ME ( or ME3 for that matter ) squadmates. It's been a while since I played ME3 but my most dominant memories of Vega are that he is the guy who gives people stupid nick names and he is also the guy who throws random Spanish words into most of his conversations. I feel that Bioware could have done a better job at not making him a loud obnoxious moron ( and before you jump down my throat about that loud obnoxious moron comment I will remind you that I do like Vega ).

Vega's hilarious! He's a great new character and he gets way too much flak from people.

Vega is the backbone of my away teams. He's a tank that can take 2400 points of dmg when maxed out (without Fortification or costume shield boosts) and is a beast with ARs and SGs. Carnage and Inferno Grenades? YES PLEASE.

I don't dislike him. I just think he's kinda bland and forgettable. And he doesn't bring anything particularly interesting or useful to the table compared to anyone else, IMO.

His personality is fine, even a little interesting, but pales in comparison to the huge personalities of Garrus, Tali, etc. and Shepard's relationships with them. I didn't care about getting to know him or anything because I was more excited about meeting up with my old crew.

If the ending weren't such a huge controversy that took up 90% of the discussion, I'm sure there would be a few more threads on how James ended up being not as bad as we all thought. Still has a derp face though.

Vega is awesome, and a true bro. I would totally get wasted with him.

He totally won me over actually. And I was really pissed going in that he would have a slot instead of Miranda.

I actually think Freddie Prinze Jr. would make a great Shepard for the film.

I like Vega, the thing is just that I think that in ME3 it was too late to introduce a new squadmate.
Vega could have been really cool if they'd merge him with Jacob. If Vega was introduced in ME2 as an ex-alliance soldier whom worked for Cerberus, if he grew up without a father and then found his dad stranded on a planet. And if he'd then join the Alliance again.

I'm doing my second playthrough now and I find him much more interresting now than my first playthrough. But like I said: it feels a bit late to introduce a new character, espescially since during the last game we were introduced to nine new ones, of which exactly zero make a return.

Vega was great! Fun to bring on missions and had great convos. Would gladly romance him with one to two FemShep's.... if only that was possible.

Wish there was some continuation after the tattoo-scene at the docks.

The hate for vega is simply becaue he takes a spot that could have gone to an established character.

At first I really hated him but now he's grown on me and his banter with STEEEEEEEEEVE is great. Up there with ken and gabby

I quite like Vega. The master-protege relationship with Shepard was a nice touch.
However, ME3 was not the game to introduce this brand spanking new character as a squad mate. The effort put into him could have gone to an established squaddie instead.
The same is true for sexbot EDI.

I liked the character, took him along frequently on missions and enjoyed the rapport between him and Garrus.
