Even if we assume this was planned with all the uproar the PR guys and probably even BW legal would NEVER let BW admit this is the case.

Agreed, if it was the case, it would be interesting to see what he PR gurus would wanna go for- "We at Bioware changed the ending for you guys, because we listen to you and care" or "This was planned from the beginning. Did YOU the player resist Indoctrination, and still choose to Destroy the Reapers despite there being an 'ending' for all 3 choices?"

Either way, somebody made a HUGE miscalculation in predicting the scale of fan backlash.

Lol, right?? Hell, some people responded here thinking I meant an apology thread FROM BIOWARE TO US!

Well, if come April 1, there is a new DLC that actually ends the game, then BW got us good and I'll apologize. But the only way I could believe that they intended to delay the ending like this all along is if it is released in the next few weeks.

BIOWARE cant try to make you pay for this DLC, they just need to man up and give it out for free

To OP, if someone stole your car would you apologize to them because you only had half a tank of gas in it?

No we don't. They advertised it as the FINAL CHAPTER that will CONCLUDE THE STORY. Indoc theory just means they released unfinished game. That's even worse than ****ing up the endings, as far as I'm concerned.

If the theory is true and a new ending is released, Bioware intentionally released an incomplete product. I don't think I'd owe them an apology.

Sure, if they planned on returning my car to me with a full tank and a new paint job.

Enough with the Indoctrination theory talk because it's obvious that Bioware DID NOT plan this out. They thought this was a good ending to an incredible series, but it wasn't. Its a terrible ending to what I would still call an incredible series.

If a TV station cut off the last 10 mins of the FIFA World Cup Final and ask you to pay for the "real ending", would you think it's alright?

If they were like, "Here ya go! Free DLC that makes it all better! And we had it planned the whole time - we just didn't want to spoil the surprise for you so we didn't say anything buddy!" then I would profusely apologize. Heck, I'd drive to their headquarters and apologize in person.

If I loved The World Cup enough and knew the ending would be great, sure.

(Context: My parents live 700 miles away, and I only get to see them once a year)

If my dad called me up, told me that my mom was gravely injured because he hit her with a frying pan, I would be upset and angry, and probably chew him out.

If he showed up at my door with my mom an hour or two later and said that he was kidding, I would not apologize for chewing him out, even though he was just kidding and had wanted to surprise me with a visit.

I'll still be annoyed if this is all a ruse, but part of me will acknowledge their attempt to be clever. Would I apologize? No.

If its true (which it isn't) then they would have intentionally sold an incomplete game.

Or how would you feel if ME2 ended with the Normandy flying through the Omega 4 Relay, and then released the Suicide Mission a few months later as DLC?

I'm not saying I'd be all angry about it (I'm not angry about the way ME3 ended, nor do I think Bioware is the devli or anything like that, just a bit dispappointed about it), but it would have been cool if it were released with the rest of the game on launch day.

The problem with that analogy is that you get nothing better than what you originally started with (your mom and dad both being alive).

This'd be a more apt analogy if it were something along the lines of your Dad telling you he's just kidding, and your Mom and Dad are gonna move closer to you now so you can see them more often.

That is of course assuming you love your parents very much and miss them.

And thus, the given backlash would still be just as valid.

If they were planning it all along, we deserve an apology for it not being in the game in the first place. I would actually feel much better if it is just the epic **** up it appears to be.

I don't know. If they were planning it all along, I might be more agitated then impressed. Because it basically means they used the love of fans as free, cheap marketing.

There's no evidence for this, so no reason to entertain this idea at all.

I don't understand why people insist it has to be free. Just because the last 10 minutes of the game sucked doesn't mean your 60 or 80 bucks was wasted. We got 30 to 40 or more hours of gameplay that was AWESOME..its the last 10 mins or so that is a total letdown. And that's what sucks the most. How could the last bit of the game go so sideways when everything else about it has been so great?

The "entitled" accusations are true about those who insist on free DLC to make up for this. Paid would not be a bad thing, and in fact it is probably necessary if you want an ending that does not suck. EA will not spend development money on new content and give it away. Fixing some bugs, yeah maybe. But not actual content.

Again, if Bioware came out eventually with a DLC that continued with the current ending being a hallucination it would totally make everything right and worth the money, and the bad "ending" would go from being crap to pure genius

So to get this straight.

A)IF Bioware planned this all along and it's some stupid "prank", that means they purposely sold us a game with no ending.

B) If A is true, then they must already have the "true" ending DLC in the pipeline, or finished and waiting to go.

So you're telling me you're perfectly OK with buying games with no ending, and then having to pay $10 extra at a later date in order to complete the game you paid $80 for already? That's what you're saying?

no thats not what I'm saying. You are kind of twisting it. It does have an ending, just not the ending we want. I think they have always said there is dlc coming, what im saying is if they have planned the "ending" to be hallucination/indoctrination and come out with dlc that "ends it better" then theres no problem.

it wouldnt be a "stupid prank" it would be more like a mind**** or twist ending, the dlc then finishes it out.

Again, this analogy doesn't work, unless separating the Suicide Mission from the rest of ME2 served some greater storytelling purpose. Which if the events of ME2 stayed the same, it wouldn't.

However, Indoc theory assumes that separating the real ending from this game would serve a storytelling purpose, by breaking of the fourth wall to see if the actual player themselves, and not Shepard, could resist indoctrination by still choosing the "Destroy" option.

Saving this spot on the off chance it's true. Here's hoping!

Make me proud, Bioware. Make yourselves proud.

There is no evidence whatsoever to support this.

Even if there were any evidence, there's is no reason whatsoever for us to apologise, as the indoctrination ending would not just be cheap but also a movement to release an unfinished game and save themselves from having to delay release, that supposing that DLC would be free, in case it wasn't free, it would mean Bioware intentionally released such a bad ending to ensure people would expend even more money to fix something that is intentionally broken, wich would make them essentially the most mallevolent videogame developer ever.
