Aside from the "they owe us that" I agree.

Kinda interesting how the only thing EC brought about in the OP was the option " to stand and die as free beings beside our brothers-in-arms", pointedly without " the chance to pull together and win through to a glorious victory"

Guess it shows what was thought of our feedback, as all the inherent weaknesses of the endings are still there: the same intolerance, the same betrayal of trust, the same arbitrary tragedy rammed down our throats just "for the feels" EC tells us "If you don't like the choices, just give up and die!"

Thank you for giving such eloquent and coherent words to my own thoughts on the ending, OP. I think you've really nailed the sense of anguish (and the underlying cause of that anguish) that so many ME fans felt at the conclusion of their own, personalized epic.

I can only hope that Bioware understands that it’s not too late to return this fantastic franchise back to its core values and craft a finale through DLC that remedies all that went so horribly wrong in the final few minutes of game play.

Cheers!

And this is what makes the Marauder Shields comics so good. Instead of Bioware's bs, they still follow the main theme by the book.

And MEHEM, which removes the Catalyst's garbage entirely and has Joker/the Normandy go back to save Shepard before the Crucible can fire.

Given how fast BSN moves, I am not surprised that I missed this when it was first posted.

Well articulated and thought out, though sadly, I suspect, will be ignored by the powers that be in Bioware.

But yes dammit, ME3's ending is a betrayal of hope, is a betrayal of the human spirit and yes, for some on this forum the notion that one should have hope or believe in something as abstract as "the human spirit" is laughable and to be scorned.

That right at the end, we are all forced to play Neville Chamberlain to the Catalyst's Adolf Hitler just didn't sit right with me. Worse, prior to the EC, we had to take up this vile policy of appeasement *and* follow up with an act of suicide.

Post EC, we have the Refusal option. To say no, we will not bow down and fight as a united Galaxy. Sadly this choice dooms the entire galaxy and only Liara's Gift allows the next cycle to win the war.

While it might not have been intended as a middle finger salute to those of us who very loudly denounced the earlier three options, it does seem that way given that it was added onto the game after, giving the impression of saying "You don't like our choices, well *frack you!* You all die!"

Driving home the message that we are to submit, or else.
Changing the central theme of the ME Series.

So, again, thank you for that original post.
