Only one Achievement left to do: Insanity playthrough.

Yeah, I've gone back to get that one done as well. I'm actually having a lot of fun doing it with a vanguard character. It's pretty intense charging in and wreaking as much havoc as I can with melee and my shotty before running for cover again.

Final battle in the market place

Me: By the Maker's soiled breechcloth! Ohgren! What the hell?!

Ohgren: What?

Me: You just did the finishing blow on an ogre!

Ohgren: ...yeeeaah?

Me: With a great maul!....I think I'm gonna be sick.

Ohgren: That's just how I roll. Deal with it.

I'm running Windows 7 and it just doesn't want to play. No force powers for me. *sad face*

I also am having the same problem.  No KoTOR, no Balder's Gate, no Neverwinter Nights.  *sigh*  I just don't know what to do with myself.  I was in the middle of re-playing NWN when I got DA:O, then the XP system died and we went with a new pc with Windows 7 and all I can play now is Dragon Age.

Maybe I'll just sit tight and wait for a service pack  to come out.

I'm not entirely sure why it took 48 hours for Lucasarts customer service page to send me an entirely formulaic letter about doing everything I already tried, but hopefully by next week they'll either be able to tell me how to fix what's wrong or simply tell me to return the game and get my money back.

I also notice that there isn't a feedback link in the email. Pity.

Honestly, I couldn't seem to get into the Vanguard playstyle. But I guess that's not much of a surprise, considering how much fun I had sniping the Harbinger right off the flying platforms before they even landed as an Interceptor... hehehe.

Checking Windows Update for fixpacks is a good idea as well.  Prior to SP1 for Vista, there were a number of smaller fixpacks released to address compatability issues with older software.

There are some more advanced solutions, like dual boot or VM ware, but to me that seems like a lot of work just to get some old games to run.

Ha!  I am the exact opposite.  I was bored to death sniping everything as an Infiltrator or even a soldier.  Charging in with my vanguard is a much more thrilling experience for me.

I found Adept to be brutally overpowered if you max out Warp, Shockwave and Slam. Holy hell. The amount of damage I could push out was silly to the point of being stupid.

Infiltrator + Antimatter Rifle + fully upgraded sniper rifles + Reeve = Dead Stuff.

The only problem is limited ammo :(

Eh, it's not a matter of power, but of play style. Any character class in the game (I don't know about engineers, as I have yet to play one), can be made powerful. My soldier seemed over powered too. Adrenaline rush + sniper rifle was a powerful combination. I just found it boring. There was virtually no risk.

That's why I'm having so much fun with my vanguard. High risk, more intensity. Now that I have heavy charge and the scimitar assault shotgun, he feels just as powerful as any other character I've played. Charge in, drop the target with 1-2 rounds from the shotty, throw in a melee attack for good measure, then pick your next target and charge again. Heavy charge powers your shields and gives you a time dilation effect, so you can keep this up for a while before your health gets low enough that you have to run for cover. I've cleared rooms in seconds like this with my vanguard that took a couple minutes with every other character I've played. On the other hand, I've also suffered more deaths. If I'm not careful and I charge right into a cluster of enemies because I couldn't see a few of them, well. . . I don't last long in that scenario.

You're right, of course, Zachriel. It all boils down to playstyle.

Speaking of which: I'm tempted to run another Engineer or Adept through Insanity, simply because of all the awesome CC tools available. Only thing that is going to suck is weapon loadout until I can get the SMG from Haestrom and the Assault Rifle from the derelict Collector's Vessel.

My kinda game:  Adept on Casual.

It's kinda like giving people a stern glance and having them explode.

Hah.  Yeah.  I  know what you mean. I almost felt sorry for Harbinger when Miranda and  I unloaded  Heavy/Unstable  Warp on him and having  Zaeed toss Incendiary Grenades at him at every opportunity.
It was like:  "ASSUMING  CONTROL!"  <GANK> "THIS  BODY'S  PAIN  IS  IRRELEVANT." All within the space of 5 seconds. Give or take.

My Interceptor had him desintegrating before he was coming back down on Normal difficulty. Not surprising, really; He's moving very slow (slower with time dilation) and he has a very large head. And I had an Antimatter rifle. That was after I swapped out Warp Ammo for Reave though, I think.

Something like this:
Main Body: "ASSUMING CONT--" BLAM!
Second Body: "WELL, FU--" BLAM!
Third Body: "STOP THA--" BLAM!
Fourth Body: "YOU CAMPING ****!"
Me: "Heh." BLAM!

Haha. I  bet that if Harbinger was playing the game he'd be going:  "FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-!" then toss the controller out the window.

Harbinger:  "ASSUMING CONTROL."
Me:  <Ganks the living daylights out of  Harbinger>
Harbinger, second body: "I  WILL  HURT Y-" <dies>
Me:  <snicker>
Harbinger, third body:  "YOU  ARE  IN  THE  PRESENCE  OF  YOUR  BET-"
Me, Miranda + Zaeed:  <GANK>
You receive whisper from Harbinger:  "Motherf*cker!  Can't take me in a fair fight? At least give me a chance!"
You whisper to Harbinger:  "Okay."
Harbinger:  "ASSUM-"
Me:  <Warp blasts him to pieces> "Heheheheee."

Did you ever play Vampire: the Masquerade - Bloodlines?  You might enjoy the Tremere clan in that game.  They had Suicide and Mass Suicide powers, which do exactly what their names imply, and the big crowd pleaser: Blood Boil.  It literally made an enemy blow up, and the "shrapnel" from their boiling blood, bones and viscera did massive damage to all enemies nearby.  It was a lot of fun to watch.

It's always great when you can kill him before he finishes talking and before he hits the ground.

Seriously, he's shouting trash and glowing gold.  How can I resist?

"Uh oh, no more bodies to possess!  But look, I still have more blue explodey fingers, though.  Neener."

For the record, KotOR 2 is still not functional. I've received one email about what might be wrong (listing the things I've already tried doing, before receiving the email) in nearly a week now. I'm getting close to returning the game and getting my $20 back. And sending a mountain of hate mail to Lucasarts.

I could get Kotor to work in Win7 but it repeatedly crashed upon my trying to land in Nar Shaddaa. Still miffed about that.

I'm still running a comp on XP, mostly because if I upgraded to Vista or 7 then I'd have to pretty much double my RAM to hit recommended stats. So, as I see it, there's absolutely no good effin reason why the game shouldn't be working unless the product itself is defective. I'm about to bring it back to Best Buy, give one more shot at the game working, then just demanding my money back.

It's not working under XP? Now that is weird. Have you tried patching it? Supposedly, it solves a whole number of issues with the game not starting or crashing out every so often.

The patching tool doesn't seem to want to work. Game version says 2.0, since I just bought it last week.

As mentioned earlier, trying to launch the game also seems to deactivate my cd/dvd drive. Which is EXTREMELY weird. Reinstalling doesn't work, same thing keeps happening.

Try and find a no-CD patch. Not exactly the most official patch but assuming it fixes the issue with your dvd-drive deactivating it's worth a shot.

I'm starting to think that the game isn't up to code with my graphics card (since they can't hardly be bothered to make it work with Vista / Windows 7) since I'm not running basic Nvidia.I installed my GTS 250 a few months ago, in preparation for DA:O.
