...Damn, I just preordered Awakening. Ah well - I have a theory about the creepy-ass darkspawn thing that talks, and I want to see if I'm right...

I want this dialogue option every time Alistair whines:

PC: GROW THE **** UP AND DEAL WITH IT, YOU PANSY-***!!!

Plus, I think the Morrigan/PC sex scenes are allllll wrong - Morrigan is such the dominant one.

Heh, Morrigan never struck me as dominant, just as "phoning it in."

I like pansies.  I wish there were another flower.

I don't like Begonias.  "GROW THE **** UP AND DEAL WITH IT YOU BEGONIA ***!"

Me: Okay, Leske, it's over. Let's try and talk this out...why do you keep attacking me?!?!
Leske: If I don't kill you, Jarvia will kill me.
Me: Did you not notice me killing her just two minutes ago?
Leske: What? You did?
Me: Yeah. I can see how you might have missed that since I totally didn't have Morrigan freeze anyone near her so they could watch me yell 'this is for stealing my best friend' and stabbing her over and over until Morrigan suggested that maybe it was overkill or anything. I killed everyone else in the entire carta, too, if you care.
Leske: Why would you kill my mealticket? Do you hate me or something?
Me: Of course not - although Ancestors know I should - but she was kind of trying to kill me, you know.
Leske: Well what am I supposed to do now?
Me: *stares at him* Seriously? How about what we were already planning on doing when Beraht died?
Leske: You mean...taking over the carta?
Me: Why not? Just don't do anything until after I get Bhelen crowned or I might have to come after you. Don't worry, though: it shouldn't take more than a week, tops.
Leske: Okay then. Why are you getting involved in politics anyway?
Me: *grimaces* It wasn't my idea. I was planning on running off to recruit the mages and the Dalish and maybe look into finding mythical Chantry artifacts if the sucession problem hadn't sorte itself out yet, but Rica insisted.
Leske: Rica ruins everything.
Me: I know, right? Just because Bhelen is the father of her son and will probably wind up king one day and Rica has to live in Orzammar is no reason to stop me from setting it up to destroy itself by picking Harrowmont.
Leske: It's just a king, how could choosing him destory all of Orzammar?
Me: Harrowmont's under the impression that I was born six months ago as a fully-grown grey warden.
Leske: Wow, talk about senile. I could probably get a lot done if he were king...are you sure you can't pick him?
Me: I would,  really would, but Rica won't let me.
Leske: Curse you responsible parenting!

Why do people always pick on flowers?
If you're going to hate on plants, hate on vines. Calling someone 'kudzu' is so foul I've never been able to do. I could see calling someone 'wisteria', though. Wisteria even sounds sexually perverse, if you say it the right way.

I'll get Awakening, but probably not right away. I'm still pretty bored with DA in general, so I think I'll wait. Final Fantasy 13 and God of War 3 should keep me occupied for a while anyway. I may also go through Heavy Rain at least one more time. It's a pretty short game (about 10 hours of gameplay), but very compelling. No game has ever made me feel a more profound sense of consequence.

Hmmm..... I apologize for posting so much about games other than DA, but I can only cite the boredom I've already mentioned. I tend to play the hell out of every game I get, so when I finally get burned out on them I get really burned out. It could be months before I can log into DA again and not instantly feel bored.

So then why are you posting on the DA forum? Usually people who are bored with a game talk about other games on, y'know, other forums.

Sorry, but that makes no sense to me. Not trying to run you off, just wondering.

You, um... Might want to go back and read the rest of this thread.  There are huge sections that have nothing to do with DA at all.  This is pretty much the only thread on the DA forums I read anymore, with the occasional rare exception.  I'm here for the people, not for the game.  When they stop posting here, so will I.

Damn right. But I played the hell out of DA over a month ago, so I'm going to be good and fresh for Awakening. Having only three classes really killed the replayability for me, doubly so considering warrior and rogue are essentially the same. At least ME2 has some class distinction, which ME1 also lacked...

Otherwise, I've been playing the classics. KotOR and NWN, mostly. NWN2 & KotOR2 just seemed... underwhelming. And speaking of classics... Shining Force 2. On the Wii's Virtual Console. Damn, but that REALLY takes me back...

I'm dying for a sweet new game or two, but don't really know what to get. I've got my comp and a Wii and that's it, and my parents raised me so that spending $400+ on a gaming system still seems excessive. Especially when I have a decent computer and a Wii already. But tax refund is coming soon, so I may splurge.

The new PS3 slims are going for about $300 now. Still not exactly cheap, but about half the price the PS3 sold for at release. I haven't looked at the XBox 360 lately. I like the PS3 system better, but XBox Live is way better than the PS network. Of course, XBox Live is a paid service, so....

The only PC game I can think of right now that I'm looking foward to is The Old Republic. Can't wait to get into that one, but it's probably another year away from release, at least.

The people in this thread have more replay value than the game :)

We have a buncha PCs built by my husband, Wii, PS3 and two 360s.  The PS3 is great as a Blu-Ray player, but the 360 community and downloads and such are my preference of the consoles.  I can also watch Netflix instantly through my 360, making it a multitasker.  My son and I also play a lot of Magic The Gathering on the 360, which comes out with expansions every now and then and gives us new challenges.

The newest Final Fantasy is coming up in a few days and I've got it for delivery on release day...but I've seen the reviews aren't that good.  I'm nervous.  But if it doesn't have Blitz Ball that's a plus.  Bring back the card game!

Right now, I can't get the new FF and I don't feel like it's a loss. I liked my FF when it was a small franchise with a cult-like following of basement dwellers and young children, telling meaningful stories to the beautiful music of Nobuo Uematsu. I liked my combat turnbased.

Possibly the crowning moment of my FF experience was battling my way up to Kefka in FF6. But 7 was also amazing. I'm one of the few people who'll argue that 8 was a pretty good game, minus the spell-stealing but then I didn't actually cast the spells so much as equip them. And popping Aura on the big bosses. And, of course, 4 was the game that got me into gaming in the first place.

Long story short, I want Bioware to produce a full-fledged turnbased RPG on par with the middle FFs.  I play games for their stories as much as anything else, part of why DMC3 was my favorite of the series.

Heh, pretty similar set up at my place now.  2 360's, 2 PS3's, and 3 custom built gaming PC's in a loft area. No Wii, though.   It's kind of a bachelors' pad.  Three of us rooming together for a while to cut expenses down and save up some money.

The main complaints I've heard about the new FF game so far are that compared to previous FF titles it's very linear, and the gameplay is very different.  My play style is pretty versatile and as long as the story is good I don't really care if it's linear or not.  I still think it'll be a good game, but we'll see.

I finished Final Fantasy 7, 8, 9...and then X and X2 entirely lost me.  Then I was back with 12.  The online MMORPG was...disappointing, though I played it for a bit.

The last one was excellent, although the boss scheme where they suddenly became basically invincible was...not so great.  But the characters and story were head and shoulders above the usual sullen hero FF fare.  Balthier was one of the first...genuinely likeable good guys.  Advent Children was awesome.

I'm interested to see what they're gonna do next.

Got the Wii for the kids...but the Wii Fit and Wii Fit Plus are stuff I'm not going without.  And tennis is actually...a lot of fun on Wii Sports.

Husband says that Resident Evil is best on the Wii because the accuracy of the controller bumps up his accuracy on his shooting by about 25%.  But his favorite place for shooters is a computer.  He'd rather play Team Fortress 2 on the PC.

Yeah, I've heard the same complaints.  But I don't see how it can be worse than being girls who change their clothes to change their powers.  *spit*

So I'll give it a go.

Rica: Oh, I'm so glad you're here! You have to help the father of my son get the thone!
Me: But didn't he have his older brother killed? And might possibly be involved in his father's death?
Rica: No, no, no. Bhelen told me all about what really happened. It was the middle child that killed Prnce Trian; that's why she was exiled. Bhelen suspects that Harrowmont - who always liked her better anyway - started these rumors he was involved and even poisioned his own father's mind. He cried for weeks after he was sent away from his father's deathbed.
Me: *bursts out laughing*
Rica: *confused* What?
Me: Did you actully see him crying? Oh Ancestors, I would have paid to see that...
Rica: I assure you, he really is such a sweet charming man who loves his family more than anything.
Me: Yeah, if by 'family' he means 'himself' and possibly 'his father.' I can't believe you think I could do something like that, Rica!
Rica: *blinking* Like what?
Me: Kill Trian. I mean, he totally would have deserved it because he was a ****** but it was kind of obvious Bhelen was setting me up. Not that I blame him either, come to think of it. Trian was REALLY obnoxious...
Rica: What are you talking about? I said that the former Lady Aeducan killed him, not my little sister.
Me: What? Oh, right...I got confused because of the height and the...you know what, never mind. I guess that means I'm siding with Bhelen then, since I can't become Harrowmont's heir.
Rica: Maybe this wasn't such a good idea...

I think I  unlocked the green deck, fully. That was a fun deck, for sure. There are so many new cards since last I played. I  remember when Ice Age or something was the hot shiznit. Then  I quit playing because no one else wanted to. Picked it up a few years down the road when Dross and Myr stuff were the hot shiznit (I  still think I have my deck around somewhere...) and now we have these new decks on the 360. I feel lost. :(

It's just one of those games I can really play with my son.  The 360 also gets rid of the "whoever loses has to put everything away" pouting.

I used to play MtG with my buddies from school during the weekends. We'd load up on a whole lot of unhealthy food and play till our eyes bled. Well, not literally because bleeding eyes are painful. Aaaaaaaanyway: We made up the total tally of wins/losses/draws and whoever was the worst had to do get rid of all the trash that had accumulated over the course of the evening.

Right.  We still have a huge number of decks and little bowls with counter pennies in them...

But it's so much easier to have the computer take care of the rules and cleanup.  His willingness to stick to the rules when he's losing is...unpredictable.

I was DYING for them to remake Talisman from a board game to a console game.  Another huge game that lasts forever and has monster clean up.  Unfortunately plans have been scrapped.  Curses!

Ah yeah.  Talisman. Good fun that. And the whatchamacallit with the thingie, we call it "Drakborgen" in  Swedish, which translates to "Dragon's Castle" or "Dragon's Fortress". A lovely board game I've spent countless hours playing with my friends. I  still remember that ONE time,  I  was the only one who managed to nick pretty much all of the dragon's hoard before calling it even and started to head out of the castle.

Event Card:  Stalking  Shadow. On a d6, roll 1 and it will insta-kill you. 2-6 and you're safe for another round. ONE  SQUARE  from the exit:  Roll 1. *STAB* DEATH.

My friends actually felt pity for me that time (usually it's just giggling with glee at my misfortune) as they all died when they dragon awoke when they were stealing its treasures. Roast human, anyone?

Ah.  Good times. Good memories.
