Isn't it more evil to let Branka go crazy with the Anvil with the weaker Harrowmont as King? It leads to kidnapping surfacers and increased caste restrictions...

Well, true enough. But I'm getting great satisfaction from all the npc dwarves being like, "Wait, wtf? You're helping Bhelen?"

Plus this way the dwarves don't get a new paragon, which means they're stuck with those two statues of the same dude in the entrance hall. Assuming they want to keep their symmetry, that is, muahahahahaha!

Oops, code fail. I tried to edit, but it isn't showing up. Either I didn't figure it out after all, which makes me look like an idiot, or my browser is just slow to update, in which case... well, I'll look like an idiot when it eventually does.

ETA: Oh look, it updated. Board obfuscation quest: complete! Sigh.

Okay, and because I'm finally able to actually comment here after reading all your posts for so long, I'm going to backtrack a bit. If you like Dean/Sam in Supernatural, you should check out Psych; they just ended their fourth season, but the first two DVD sets are really cheap (and the later stuff is, AFAIK, available for free online or on iTunes).

... gonna stop posting to myself now, lol.

Yeah, expect that from a lot of people in Orzammar.

If you're helping Harrowmont they're like:  " /facepalm. You're helping that old fool?"
If you're helping Bhelen they're like:  "<gasp>  But... but.. he's evil!  Harrowmont is a far better choice!"
And you're stuck in the middle.

What I miss the most is how you can't play out the two factions against each other with all of it ending in a big-ass King-of-the-Hill infighting between all the nobles.

What I'd really want to be able to do in Orz depends on whether I'm playing noble or castless dwarf. As a castless I would very much like to take over Jarvia's business and collect some sovs out of it, maybe even rule from behind the throne.

For noble, it's the standard become a paragon king.

WTB option to kill both of them, and pronounce a king of my own choosing. I was thinking... uh... what's the name of that crazy guy in the tunnels again? The guy who's mom asks you to find him?

LOL, well, I ended up doing the next-best thing. I played like I was going make Bhelen king, but then gave Harrowmont the crown at the last minute. It kept "A Paragon of Her Kind" in the Orzammar zone from updating (although did progress the Blight storyline), but it was totally worth it.

But...if you're a dwarf, putting Harrowmont on the throne means you can take over Orzammar and also become a Paragon.

That made my evil wench giggle.

But otherwise there's no way to win anything in Orzammar. Hate. That. Place.

Bhelen will make you a Paragon, too.

An evil Paragon. Although Harrowmont makes you the heir to House Aeducan so you stand a better chance of becoming monarch if you support him. OTOH, since Bhelen's son is only a month old or so when you first get to Orzammr, if anything were to happen to Bhelen in the next fifteen years or so you could ALSO end up the monarch.

Would have to try for maybe ten years. I child of even 13 can assume the throne, judging on how smart they are. But in any sense the case will most likely be a Paragon King > Teenager

Cool!  Thanks :)

I'll have to check out Psych.  I did watch a few episodes when it first came out, but it struck me as way too arrogant...maybe it's mellowed?

As I tend to believe that there's more going on in the brain than we are always aware, not that I think it's supernatural...I get a little irritated at people professing to know everything.  And sometimes the sheer observational stuff can irritate me as I can usually come up with seven reasons why something could appear a certain way while the protagonist is saying "There's NO other way it could be like this!"

I don't like Sherlock Holmes much either.

But I'll give it a go again!

Oh, there is definitely some of that (and it does mellow--I'll admit to being sufficiently obsessed as to have listened to the commentaries, and I guess there was a lot of pressure from USA at the beginning to make the lead Captain AwesomeAtEverything, since it was kind of a genre-breaking show and they weren't sure it would hook anyone). I adore the actor who plays Shawn but the character himself can get on my nerves sometimes; when I find that happening, I just focus on Dulé Hill and then unicorns fly out of my TV and sprinkle glitter around my living room and it's all okay again. There's lots of good there.

There's just something about their particular friend relationship that is full of win, as far as I'm concerned. It's kind of a love-it-or-hate-it type of show, though.

I'm trying to think of a particularly good-humored one as a test-run... the first that comes to mind is one in which the police find a body and Shawn's convinced he was killed by a T-Rex. That's funny and not too, like, OMG look at Shawn he is brilliant and 100% right all the time and and and.... I think it was called something hilariously straightforward like "Shawn discovers a dinosaur." Oh, and there was a very funny one involving a murdered seal, the title of which is escaping me at the moment (and we're moving, so all the DVDs are packed away somewhere).

(I'm reading over that last paragraph and am feeling totally uncomfortable with that "oh yeah, this thing was killed... funny! And this dude, too! Bwahaha!" I mean, show. Brightly-colored fantasy world. Dulé Hill and psychic cat channeling and general ridiculousness are all requirements of that particular aspect of my sense of humor.)

In other, DAO-related news, Oghren is my new bestest imaginary game friend. I was having a serious insomnia bout last night, so I booted up the PC and was playing around with dialogue trees in camp. He has this whole dialogue about the dog stealing his pants that just... I couldn't breathe, I was laughing so hard. "But HE doesn't know that, and it will be his sodding downfall. Do you hear me, Dog?" Bwahahaha!

Yeah, Oghren is great. All his camp dialogues are great, and his personal quest is pretty funny too, especially his opening line with Felsi.

Oghren: Hey baby. Are you a baker, cause you've got some damn hot buns!

Speaking of Oghren, here's a song by psychostick that could be his theme song:

I sing it and beer you bring

I drink beer when I am sad

''cause the beer it makes me glad

now there's nothing left to say

so lets go drink beer

Beer is good

Beer is good

Beer is good

... and Stuff

Beer is good

Beer is good

Beer is good

let's go drink some BEER

BEER

when its warm it tastes real crappy

but cold beer will make me happy

when I throw up on the floor

I can go and drink some more

they say beer will make me dumb

it are go good with pizza

now that we have drunk some beer

let's go drive a car

Beer is good

Beer is good

Beer is good

....and stuff

Beer is good

Beer is good

Beer is good

let's go drink some BEER

I do love Dule.  He's the one that got me watching in the first place.    Defintely good to give it another run.  There are several shows that I took a dislike to before the pilot awkwardness wore off.  I've actually been planning to remember to set it to record and now I'm planning to really, really, extra special be sure to.

This is getting to be a pattern. Once again, as I am heading out of town for work, there are new releases available on the day of my departure. Awakenings should be released and I'm expecting God of War 3 to arrive today, but I'll be gone until Friday.

Oh well. Time always seems to fly when I'm on the road. I'm not sure that's entirely a good thing, though. How many days have I lost sitting on a plane doing essentially nothing? So much time that I'll never get back.

I only made about 3 full playthroughs, and I've been all ME2 for the past month or so. Before that I was playing old games, so I'm ready for DA: A. While sick, I took up Ogre Battle again for the first time in years. It's like an old girlfriend I can't seem to quit, I always come back for more punishment >_<

Looking forward to OgreBattle 64 EVENTUALLY making it onto the Wii Virtual Console. I don't know if my N64 even works anymore >.>

Yeah,  I've been lurking in ME2 and Dawn of War 2:  Chaos Rising lately. I'm doing an insanity playthrough on ME2, which isn't going all that well. I think the game is trying to tell me that I should stick to Veteran and below. It's the only damn achievement I have left to unlock :(

Don't know that I'll ever try insanity, but once I actually
started trying to play for challenge I ended
up skipping through levels up to Veteran just bc I wasn't
having much trouble. My Veteran attempt is an Infiltrator, I thought it made sense to stick with the class I kick ass at. I guess I like it because the sniper rifle is, like, the only
non-heavy weapon I occassionally use on
bosses. If not for the lack of ammo, I'd be using it exclusively even on
bosses.

I've already had a couple deaths, I even
died on the first colony mission due to poor cover choice and Jacob's dumb ass
blocking me from jumping to cover. Damn flying robot turrets. Grunt's recruit mission gave me some trouble too, and killed my lackeys multiple times. Otherwise, it's been my usual headshot killing spree. I'm getting really good at picking people off before they even know I'm there.

Edit: Ok, maybe I spoke too soon. The waves of Husks with Armor and a duo of Scions would've had me pulling my hair out... except I shave my head. Hope I didn't put any nail marks in my scalp...

Complaint: Dear Programmers of Mass Effect 2: If I can unload all 10 rounds of my sniper rifle, head-shotting every time, and STILL run out of ammo before a fight is over... maybe you didn't give these weapons enough ammo.

That's my main gripe with the Sniper Rifle as well. With 11 odd shots or so, there's just no way in hell that is going to be enough for a difficult encounter. Btw, the Arc Projector heavy weapon that was released just recently through the Cerberus  Network is absolutely awesome.

Your personal little Chain  Lightning generator that does a bazillion and one damage. It won't insta-gibb folks but it sure as hell evens out a fight with closely packed mobs.

Yes, husks on the higher difficulties are the most irritating enemies, in my opinion. Heavy weapons are the easiest way to deal with them, if you have ammo to spare. Otherwise, just remember that husks are insantly killed by pretty much any biotic attack.

My favorite method of dealing with the Scions is the Viper sniper rifle with flame ammo. Having multiple characters with Heavy Warp helps too.

Anyway.....

Looks like the first impressions of Awakenings are coming in on the forum. I haven't seen anything resoundingly positive yet. I won't be home to download and try it out myself until this weekend, but now I'm thinking I might just play GoW3 a couple of times first.

For the record, I'm of the opinion that husks / scions are the most annoying enemies on every level, with every class. Scions in particular with their shockwave spam. I almost murdered my computer bc it kept yelling "DUCK BEHIND COVER TO HEAL!" while I was ALREADY BEHIND COVER GETTING MAULED BY SHOCKWAVES. As for Heavy Weapons, I usually pack the particle cannon for really tough bosses. A few Husks have been killed by it. By the end of the encounter in question, I'd run out of: Sniper Ammo, Pistol Ammo, and burned over half my Heavy Ammo. With the knowledge that a frickin Praetorian was about to come after me, and that I would badly need that Heavy Ammo.

What's frustrating is that I had just BLOWN through the previous fight, the original encounter with collectors being possessed by Harbinger. Hardly took a hit. Just headshot, headshot, faceshot, headshot... Like it was nothing. Difficulty levels vary dramatically by encounter >_<

They're armored on Veteran. So you can't just Biotic Cannon them >_<

Inferno Blast or w/e is a great way to stun them, and I'll definitely be getting the aoe version later.

I'm unloading with Armor Piercing Ammo, I think. The one that does additional damage to armor and health. No one has Imp Flame Ammo yet, and Infiltrator only gets Cryo & Disruptor. And I've made good use of Disruptor on Shielded foes.
