Speaking of music, there's one piece of music entirely yoinked full cloth from opera. I can't walk around Denerim without singing "No trouble, no trouble, in my breast...remember me..." from Dido's Lament.

Link if you haven't heard it. Dare you to not be an opera singer every time you're in Denerim.

As much as I love the music, it's so incredibly derivative from other musical themes that I find myself spinning off into the original song for most of the proceedings.

Alison Moyet's version is presented here for scrutiny. For the fact that she doesn't mutilate the piece and the orchestration is the closest to Denerim's "walkabout" music.

The theme music is unfortunately IDENTICAL in melody to the theme to "The Amazing Race" and also the theme from "Oblivion", the only differences are minor, which although ironic, bumps me out of immersion and makes me wonder if the composer has every listened to any other pieces of music or just grabbed them here and there and said "Oh, that's cool. They're gamers. They won't notice."

*On The Mountaintop*

Alistair: Did you see that? Did you? You must have! You were alive this time! *huge crushing plate-smooshing hug* We're alive!

Wynne: I'm genuinely impressed.

Morrigan: Some High Dragon...

Me: Oh, Morrigan, you're such a...say you're happy we killed a dragon. Say it!

Morrigan: Well...I...

*Alistair goes back over to kick the dragon's haunches like the tires on a used car*

Alistair: Come ON, Morrigan. Just once. Be honest ONCE.

Morrigan: That was...that was...all right, as much as it might pain me to admit it, that was fun. And impressive.

Alistair: I rode that baby into the ground, I did.

Wynne: I had fun with my new sword.

Me: Yesss...Alistair, you've had your moment, it's not as impressive to ride a dead dragon.

Alistair: Oh, but it's still fun, and it's still warm. Want to ride the dragon with me? *waggling eyebrows*

Morrigan: And...impressive is over. It's passed.

Me: Guardian! Say "He chose...unwisely."

Guardian: But...

Me: Please? PLEASE? Come on, we just killed a dragon.

Guardian: "He chose...unwisely"

Me: Awesome. Ready to go. Thanks, you're a peach.

Me: May we speak later?
Duncan: You are being left in charge of the castle? Then I will see you at dinner tomorrow, if not sooner.
Me: I would prefer sooner.
Duncan: Then tomorrow morning, before Ser Gilmore's testing. Will that be sufficient?
Me: How about tonight... in my room?
Duncan: (ahem) I appreciate your enthusiasm, but it would be inappropriate for me to be in your quarters unescorted.
Me: Come on, we can't let that voice go to waste.
Duncan: ...  I'm sorry?
Me: Well it's not like we'll have much of a chance after tonight. I mean there's the whole regicide thing and then the battle, besides which I'd like to try it out before actually watching you put that double-zero in front of your name to use on one of your own recruits at that whole Joining thing.
Duncan: I'm afraid I... don't quite follow.
Me: How do you mix up that darkspawn blood, by the way?  "Shaken, not stirred"?  C'mon, say it.
Duncan: I am starting to re-evaluate my initial desire to recruit you.
Me: What's your last name? Is it Bond? Say Bond. Duncan Bond.
Duncan: ... I think we should not keep your father and the Arl waiting. Now run along, dear. Man talk.
Me: (squee!)

I settled on the Holy Trinity:  "Lord of the Rings" and "Silent Hill" and "National Treasure."

Hell, I played all of Oblivion not trusting a word he said and then got to the end.  Oh hell.  You're actually a GOOD guy?  I'm sorry, Sean...makes sense that it's Terrence Stamp being more eviller than you though.  He's Zod, you know.

Equilibrium isn't too bad of a role for him either.

After killing Loghain.

Me: One man. One desire. He was selling slaves on the corner and the Darkspawn wanted in.

Leliana: .... what?

Me: (mock voice, pretending the Darkspawn has a eerily italian sounding accent) "I don't know who this Loghain is, but I want him and his slaves... DEAD!"

Alistair: I think that concludes it: No more Lyrium potions for you.

Me: (mock voice, pretending to be Loghain... with an austrian/english accent) "These are my slaves, and I'm not going to give them up!"

Morrigan: And here I thought Leliana was the crazy one... joke's on me.

Leliana: I heard that!

Me: He had once chance. And that chance was to fight back!

Morrigan: Which he failed, in case you completely missed it what with him lying in a pool of his own blood, and all.

Me: Arnold Schwarzenegger, this summer, is (imitating a huge explosion): Little Slaver Boy!

Alistair: Who's Arnold?

Leliana: I can't believe I slept with him. He appeared to be so normal!

Morrigan: They all do.

Alistair: Maybe we should've sided with the Templars after all...

*In Orzammar*

Me: Must call the council immediately. There are more problems than they realize.

Alistair: Well, I don't know, they seem a bit distracted what with the political unrest and general air of chaos.

Wynne: With lava.

Alistair: Right. Chaos with lava. Very bad.

Me: But...there's a scroll...in Harrowmont's estate. And I can't read it.

Alistair: THAT is the issue?

Me: Look, I stand on the bed, nothing. I stand next to it, nothing. LOOK!

Alistair: Mmm. Bed.

Me: Try to pick it up!

Alistair: I already picked you up.

Me: No, no, no! THE SCROLL.

Shale: Perhaps the fumes have gotten to her.

Me: THE SCROLL. I CAN'T PICK IT UP. What if it's an important scroll. What does it say. WHAT DOES IT SAY?

Alistair: You barely glance at what you pick up already.

Me: I can't stand it.

Alistair: We could shoo everyone out and just use the bed properly. Though it's a bit short. We'll improvise.

Me: *starts to cry*

Wynne: *tries to pick it up and her hand passes through* Okay, that's weird.

Me: SEE? SEE?

Shale: I think she's had too much close quarters with toxin extract.

Alistair: And lava.

Me: *broken sobbing*

Me: Yaaaay! Say it!

Elven hireling: It makes no sense.

Me: SAAAY IT!

Elven hireling: *sigh* Okay. By Azura, By Azura, By Azura!

Me: Woo Hoo!

Elven hireling: Can I go now?

Me: Sure. That was great. Here's an extra sovereign.

Yes, the Adoring Fan is one of those characters that people love to hate.  It's a good thing I didn't pay the Elven Hireling to be murdered in various creative ways or led into horrible places to die at the hands of evil.  You know, like making him die in a trophy case...say.

But Morrigan would have approved had I done so, I'm sure.

*In the Carta Hideout*

Me: Look at that! I cut off Jarvia's head! That's...that's awesome.
Alistair: I'm glad I'm no longer inclined to argue with you.
Wynne: *looking at Jarvia's body* Did you hear what she said about pretty, pretty teeth?
Me: How could you miss it? What a bizarre thing to shriek during battle.
Wynne: Well...check the corpse. Is she wearing someone's pretty, pretty teeth already?
Me: You're a freak, Wynne.
Alistair: Even she's not wearing her pretty, pretty teeth any more. By the way, where do the heads GO?
Me: It's a mystery. A wonderful, bloody mystery.
Shale: She probably meant my teeth. Impervious to decay.
Me: I like my teeth where they are.
Wynne: I wanted a bracelet.
Me: You got out of that tower just in time, you know that, Wynne?

*Deeproads Strategy Talk*

Me: Potions, check. Poultices, check. Gotta be on the lookout for body bits in bags.

Shale: I'm so glad I don't have a nose.

Oghren: Branka's that way. Why do you keep following every godforsaken Paragon's Blasted Cul-De-Sac full o' darkspawn?

Me: I KNOW. I know where she is.

Oghren: ...you do?

Me: Do you want me to spoil everything for you?

Oghren: You're well on your way, Warden.

Me: We're ahead of schedule. Wynne, you rock. You know, you're going to be able to wear the Legionnaire's armor. We're gonna get us a Gangue Shade.

Wynne: I LOVE being shiny. This is so much better than finger twiddling. That shade thing sounds like fun.

Me: Good! Just so you all know, I'm afraid Alistair and Morrigan are, for reasons I cannot disclose...officially OUT of the loop. You guys are it, pretty much, until the end.

Oghren: So I'm taking Alistair's place?

Me: Oh hell no. Shale is now the new Alistair.

Shale: Only without either having or offending the olfactory senses.

Wynne: I'm the new Wynne!

Me: And you're awesome. Oghren, try not to...die every four seconds. Be a dear.

Oghren: I'm confused.

Wynne: Oh, get with the program, we're all confused. Go with it.

Me: Onward!

Me: Look, Oghren, we've got to talk.

Oghren: Aye?

Me: I feel like Bioware is PUNISHING ME for wanting to bring you along.

Oghren: What?

Me: For starters, if I want to get you at a level where I can still reasonably make you useful, I have to head pretty much straight to Orzammar. If I want to actually be able to talk to you in camp at that time, I have to battle the freaking Broodmother at like level 12. The Deep Roads are just obviously harder than any other area, even if--allegedly--I'm supposed to be able to go in my own order. To top all that off, you're voiced by freaking Steven Blum. I mean, he's not a bad voice actor, exactly, it's just that he doesn't have any tone differentiation at all. At best, he's got "Steve Blum" and "Gay Steve Blum" (see Leeron, Gurren Lagann, english dub). Even his grunty dwarf voice sounds like "Dwarf Steve Blum". And Gorim is just plain Steve Blum. I'm sorry, Youtube Abridgers are better at voices.

Oghren: Sodding Stone!

Me: Stop. Just stop. They didn't even write you well... I wonder if Branka really would've made you into a golem if I asked... >.>

Poor Oghren. He's suffering during my playthrough here because Wynne as a dual spec Arcane Warrior and Spirit Healer is out tanking him, out damaging him, and clearly out healing him.

Poor bastard. If he didn't HAVE to come along with me, he'd be in camp right next to Zevran in the "I'm not playing you until I get to reassign all your spec points" protest lineup.

I won't really go to Orzammar until someone can wear the Legionnaire's armor, and this time through, it's Wynne.

She's starting to slur her words and hiccup blue bubbles though. It's a shame I'm turning her into a lyrium addict and her brains are slowly bubbling out her ears, but...oh well. Sacrifices, right?

"The Series of Unfortunate Events*

The scene: Battle with some Genlocks, Hurlocks, and sundry others in the tunnels.

Upon His Finishing Blow:

Oghren: What's that smell?

Immediately After:

Shale: Run! Run in fear!

Which is unfortunate enough, and I start to giggle, while reaching down to loot a corpse.

Unfortunately this IS right at an ambush moment where the rest of the darkspawn go running straight out into a Bronto buckin' rodeo of doom.

Everyone dies and I'm too busy laughing to do anything about it.

I'm glad I save often.

Me: Okay, everybody stay here. Shale, you go run out and look panicked and say "Oh waily, waily, waily" like the Wee Free Men. Then when you come back I'll be forced to say A La Princess Fiona "You have an arrow in your butt!" Ready? Break!

I prefer the No Follower Autolevel mod (http://www.dragonage...s/file.php?id=4)

No at-will respecs (you gotta live with your choices), but you can build followers the way you want.

You can even build them way off their 'intended' thing, but I rarely do that. I just want to not be penalized for doing things in a certain order. (and am on my 5th playthrough now, so I think I'm allowed to :P)
