I blame you, Recidiva.  Oh, well, out of my system now.  Stupid game.

Time for hot chocolate and hugs.

(after freeing Riordian)

Me: *glares at Riordian* Is there something you want to tell me and Alistair?

Riodian: Umm...thank you for saving me?

Me: Try again. We're both new recruits here. Think.

Riordian: Umm...

Me: Okay. REALLY. Duncan died a few freakin' HOURS after I joined the Wardens. Alistair has been a Warden for a few months. Do you think there's something about the Archdemon that we might need to know?

Riordian: You...you do know its a corrupted Old God, don't you?

Me: You are IMPOSSIBLE! Just go ahead and tell us that the Warden that kills the Archdemon dies-

Alistair: What?!

Me: -so that when I save Loghain and have him kill the Archdemon the whiny little kid over here doesn't leave me!

Alistair: Whiny? I don't whine! Wynne! She's being mean again!

Me: IS THAT REALLY SO HARD TO SAY?

I'm restarting as a mage.

I'd say this was psychic input, but when I played the first time, Mouse just seemed...well, I'm very untrusting.

Mouse: You-

Me: You're a demon.

Mouse: Am not.

Me: Yes, you are, might as well have a tattoo saying "I'm the bad guy!" on your forehead.

Mouse: How...what?

Me: *sigh* Come on.

Mouse: It's just that they allow me so few hobbies...

Me: Save it.

Mouse: *stomps inelegantly down the path*

Me: Prima donna.

Upon seeing Jowan:

Me: A demon! Die, demon!

Jowan: No, I'm me - I'm a - Don't Hurt Me!

Me: Oh, I'm just screwing with you. Lighten up. You're going to have very few opportunities for giggles. And your quest is bugged. *starts putting on shoes*

Jowan: I wanted to talk to you.

Me: I know, I know, Lily, phylactery.

Jowan: How do you know?

Me: There was a memo. Everyone knows.

Jowan: REALLY?

Me: No. More screwing with you. C'mon, I want to go flirt with Cullen.

It does strain the patience, doesn't it?

I'm thinking of putting a funny hat on Jowan this time to keep myself entertained.  Maybe draw a little lightning scar on his forehead.

I'm going to use it as a story point for my new mage.

"Lalalala, okay, so the demon was bad. Aw, hi old friend! You have girl trouble? I shall help you! ...You just screwed me over... I hate you. I didn't do anything, Gregior! ...I hate you too. ...I like you guy in armor who is telling me I don't have to have Templars watching me waiting for me to go crazy. I get to go kill people now!"

Oh holy...speak of the Devil. And he appears.

I swear, go through the Mage Origin and then go in where the kids are talking to each other. There's an apprentice whose voice caught my notice.

If you talk to him he says "I'm going to be a powerful mage when I grow up."

I SWEAR that is either Daniel Radcliffe or a very, VERY good impersonation.

And there's a little red-headed boy next to him and a little girl with braids.

Have I mentioned I love this game? Lots?

How I feel about Jowan after playing a mage....

Jowan: I did poison Arl Eamon but I didn't summon any demons. You have to believe me.

Me (persuade): I know perfectly well, your not only a maleficar, but an abomination. Nay, not just any abomination, but an Orlesian abomination who is currently working for the Antivan Crows on a contact for some bint named Marjolaine. You're also a pigeon fancier who steals Qunari swords as a hobby. Further, you're a teetotaling lesbian dwarf in drag who convinced Loghain to leave the field at Ostagar. You also kick puppies and are infertile.

Cue red mist explosion.

I have sympathy for Jowan because templars and mages are horrible people in general and he is so weak.  If he were to have a sound track it should just be "Wah, wah, waaaaah."

Yeah, there's a particular sort of "plot calculation" that lends itself to suspicion.

I swear, I watch movies and think the protagonists people should play more games.  "See, if you had better hand-eye coordination, he wouldn't have gotten that close."

WHY do people with ranged weapons get that close?  If you get close enough to someone when you have the ranged advantage of a gun, I have no sympathy for you.

Here is something that often annoys me....

Scene: Carta Hideout

Me: "So.. everyone got the tactics worked out now?"
Morrigan: "Pff, yes of course."
Leliana: "I know, I know. You tip toe in and..."
Me: "Pay attention Oghren! You always screw up!"
Oghren: "Andraste's ******, I sodding know what to do!"
Me: "Which is...?"
Oghren: "On your cue we all charge..."
Me: "No!"
Leliana: "... we all wait around the corner, while Michael tiptoes in to draw them out."
Oghren: "Bah, it was sumthin like that. I knew it."
Me: "So all stay there and I'll go first and open the door around the corner."
(Michael Cousland slowly opens the door)
Me: "What the... WHAT ARE YOU DOING!"
Oghren: "It's not my sodding fault" (jogs around the corner into the room)
Leliana: "Maker, not again!" (breaks cover and walks quickly in behind Oghren)
Morrigan: "What manner of Foul magic is this!" runs in behind the others with a puzzled frown"
Me: I told you to stay around the corner!!!"
Jarvia: "Mwahahaha... No one escapes the magic of a cutscene!"

*just prior to the epilogue*

Bodahn approaches Alistair with a note. Opening the note, Alistair finds the rose he gave her pressed carefully between the tear-stained pages.

"I know you are angry, and feel betrayed, and beyond that, inexpressibly lonely. For that, more than anything, I am sorry. I am a coward because I could not face that loneliness myself. I could say so many things that would make it sound as if I knew what I was doing, but in the end, I only know what I cannot do. I cannot watch you die. I cannot go on with all my reasons for living (those would be you) gone. I cannot betray everything you stand for in order to live. Don't ask. Big "ew" factor.

Maker watch over you, as I shall, from whichever corner of the fade I am relegated to wait until I can see you again and tease you mercilessly. Bring portraits of your children, the ones with your eyes. But don't mention your wife. Let's just pretend she doesn't exist. Yes, I can be petty and jealous even when dead. And don't marry Anora. Okay, so I can be bossy when I'm dead as well.

If I have any wishes for you it's that you create and find in this flawed world some of the measure of joy and hope that you brought to my life. Not too soon, mind. Mourn me for at least...a week. Deal?

All my love,

Elissa

p.s. Please, release doves at my memorial service. But tell Shayle it was my idea before she tries to kill you. She'll understand. I hope. If not, wear shoes that promote speed."

With a smile that encompasses grief and understanding, Alistair pulls a letter from a pocket over his heart that he had intended for her to find. Written on those pages were the same thoughts, but with different words. Folding the letters together with the rose inside them both, he puts them back over his heart, holds his hand there for a moment and says softly "Deal."

The first run through I made Alistair king, and was not aware that he would break up with me. Unable to take the unbearable heartbreak I went back to a previously saved screen and instead let Anora stay queen. The third time through I took the plunge and made Alistair king, hoping that maybe I just missed a dialogue queue or something. If there is one I still can’t find it. However, since we were still friends (shockingly, I wasn’t nice about the break up) and I still had him do the Dark Ritual and still unable to accept living without him I decided to just create a new epilogue. So this is what I pretend happens:

(My character was a City Elf Female who chose Shianni to be the new Bann of the Elven Alienage, and remained a Grey Warden.)

So Alistair is king and fulfilling his royal duty found some random noble chick who in my mind will be similar to Giulia De Lezze (Marco’s bride from Dangerous Beauty, (awesome movie)). She of course doesn’t really love him, and only sleeps with him because it’s her wifely duty to bear him a son and whatever.

A few years go by, poor Alistair is distraught, doing his best to cope without the only woman he ever loved. One day he decides to take a stroll through the Denerim marketplace, trying to take his mind off of politics and his loveless marriage. While fondling an elven crafted dagger in the open market, something catches his eye. He looks up to see a vision of beauty sitting at a wooden bench. Flowers braided in her long golden hair that hangs carelessly down her shoulders in soft curls. She’s dressed in a fine white silk dress, both the back and the front draped low and the waist tied off with a wine colored silk ribbon. She’s laughing, her cheeks red with mirth, and her aventurine eyes shining brightly. She crosses her legs revealing a long slit on the side of the dress exposing the crossed leg to the thigh. After some time of being captivated by her brilliance, Alistair recognizes her, it’s (guess who) his love, Ealasaid (a.k.a. me). He puts down the dagger and in a trance walks over to her.

Shianni: (laughing)…and then Soris screamed like a little girl. Dear Maker, it was just a rat, it wasn’t even alive!
Alistair: Ealasaid?
Ealasaid: Alistair!! (Surprise washes over her face.)
Shianni: Hey aren’t you the assface that dumped my cousin because she’s not a “noble”?
Ealasaid: Shianni, please… and yes.
Shianni: (smirks) Hmphf. I guess I’ll leave you two alone, I have matters of state to attend to anyway. Unless you need a witness, cousin?
Ealasaid: (smiling) Thanks Shianni, but I’ll be fine.
(Shianni stands up and backs away slowly, glaring at Alistair, pointing to her eyes and then at him.)
Alistair: What are you doing here? (stares at uncovered leg)
Ealasaid: I to see Shianni. That and we’re celebrating this festival I learned from Lanaya, the Dalish keeper, it seemed appropriate now that we are no longer oppressed…well not as much at least. What are you doing here?
Alistair: I…uh…I seem to have forgotten. (still staring)
(Ealasaid stands up)
(Compulsively Alistair kisses her)
Ealasaid: I thought you said this was wrong? You couldn’t be with me and have a wife?
Alistair: Did I say that, I don’t remember saying that.
(Ealasaid glares)
Alistair: Oh…right. Well um…(sigh). I miss you, I love you. I thought…I don’t know what I thought. All I know now is that I want to be with you, one more time.
Ealasaid: You don’t need to ask me twice.
(Alistair kisses her again and they leave for some where more private.)

(Naughty Scene)

Anyway (ahem), unable to let each other go, Alistair and Ealasaid agree to see each other whenever their duties allowed. Eventually feeling the corruption of the taint they journey to the Deep Roads for one last final glorious battle dying in each other’s arms, their spirits together for all eternity. Yay!!!!!

Well... since Recidiva opened the thread for a bit more romantic scenes too, here is after much deliberation what I think is the happiest ending for me I can get out of this game:

- - -

Leliana surveyed the Grand Hall. She had barely spoken to Michael Cousland, since last council in Redcliff. During the gruelling march to Denerim he had seemed to busy directing the Army. A few words before the battle was all. She wished she would have made them more personal, but there had been no time.
She finally saw him standing in a corner next to Queen Anora talking intently. She saw him put a reassuring hand on the Queens shoulder. She bit back a tear. She had made up her mind she wouldn't cry today, no matter what.
Everyone had been talking about what a grand thing it would be when Michael and the Queen got betrothed. He had not even talked to her since the meeting with the Queen in Redcliff, and in a sense she was grateful for it, even she felt disappointed that he couldn't tell it to her face. At least now she was prepared to face him.
She saw him bid farewell to the Queen and hurry down the stairs. A throng of Fereledan nobles immediatly surrounded him, but he brushed them off and instead he moved straight towards her. She took a deep breath and put on a happy smiling face. She would NOT cry today.
"I'm sorry I didn't see you until now Leliana!" Michael said as he approached her.
"I... wasn't here before. I was outside. I guess I missed most of it" she replied airily.
"Oh!" he looked at her puzzled, but then let it go.
"So... how is Anora. She is beautiful isn't she?" she willed the smile to stay.
"I guess so, but it's you I want to talk about" Michael answered. He sounded a bit nervous now. Leliana clenched her fists. She had dreaded this part. That he might try to get her to stay, even if he married the Queen. That maybe he would be so weak. That maybe she also would be so weak.
"It's strange, but after all that has happened, I feel no joy today... just an immense relief" he said. "Finally, everyone seem to get what they want. They don't need me anymore. Anora gets to be Queen, Alistair gets to go back and rebuild the Grey Wardens. Oghren has his girl and Sten his sword. Ferelden is safe and they don't need me anymore."
"But what about you and the Queen! You must have duties to her and..."
"Oh no, no. That's what I'm trying to tell you. It's true we talked about it, but I have explained everything to Anora and she is only happy to let me go. She'll make a decent Queen on her own I think".

"Leliana... I have been such a fool these last days. So much happened that it doesn't seem real. I have been so busy being some sort of politician, trying to save the Grey wardens, Ferelden and the whole world, that I forgot about saving the most important part of it all - us. Please tell me it's not to late."

"Why.. why didn't you talk to me. I thought you where avoiding me, because you didn't dare to break up with me". she said weakly. He looked pained.
"There... is more to it. There were reasons why I couldn't look you in the eyes... but it's not like you think, at least not all of it."
Leliana watched him carefully. She knew something had happened between Michael and Morrigan, some hold she had had on him, that Leliana couldn't fathom. But Morrigan was gone and her instincts told her that she now was something of the past.
"Whatever it was it can wait. Now I just want to know that it's you and me", she whispered to him, letting her head rest on his shoulder. She had been so wrong. She was going to cry after all.

(Edit. Fixed a few typos)

This actual exchange with Wynne always cracks me up:

*post fight when Wynne's badass spirit power first kicks in*

Wynne: Oh... hmm, that was interesting, and draining...

Me: What was that? Did you summon the spirit?

Wynne: I called forth the spirit that sustains me, so that it could lend us aid. I did not realize it would take this much out of me.

Wynne: It seemed like a good idea at the time, if a little rash -- I think it may have weakened the spirit a little.

Me: It took you that long to figure it out?

Wynne: Well, we can't all be Quickwit McSmartypants now, can we? Apparently you have the monopoly on cleverness.

And boy did she get ****y when I told her to butt out about my character's relationship with Zevran. "Hey, lady, I took your advice broke up with the cute (yet psycho) redhead. A man still has needs!! And in spite of the fact that he did try to kill me, I still feel safer sleeping in Zev's tent for some reason..."

I always think it's funny when you have to follow the "Wynne" script and you're screwed either way.

If you say "Oh, that Priest sounded so wise..." and then she says "Pft.  I thought it was a load" basically.

"Oh come on, you can't reverse-Wynne me.  It's a trap.  If I say it's a load, you'll scold me.  Trap.  TRAP.
