So I'm playing this game as a Human hating Dalish Warrior (hehe, Shems.), as per my avatar. But I've run into a slight ....problem....

Me: *mumbling* Hate Shems, Hate Shems, Hate Shems.
Alistair: What are you muttering about now?
Me: I'm trying to remind myself who I am.
Alistair: riiiight....do I want to know why?
Me: *clicks on a locked chest*
Leliana: I can do that for you.
Me: *Melts*
Alistair: Oh.

To make matters worse, I'm using one of the mods that morphs her face and hair to look more like the Leliana from the Sacred Ashes Trailer. I'm a weak weak elf.

As someone who is a writer who happens to have an amorous yet racist main character, I've figured out the line of logic that will allow a human-hater to bed Leliana. It goes like this; Breed the race out of existence. Sleep with every member of that race you can find, since the children will only be HALF that race, and half yours. If you pursue this course of action, and convince others to do so, then this race you are racist against will eventually be assimilated and no longer exist.

Naturally, this only works if your character is more pervy than racist.

P.S.: ME2 plot point.

I checked what happens if you don't get those ship upgrades I mentioned earlier. The result is simply that members of your crew die during the cutscene. Which, I must say, was the WORST possible outcome for me. There's a reason I saved before starting the mission. ^_^

I'm afraid it won't work in Thedas, as there is no such thing as half-elves. I'm... not exactly sure if it was in one of codexes or on DA wiki or somewhere else, but I remember reading about elves (as background research for my City Elf), how most of them considered mixed relationships as treason on the Elf's part, and how children born from mixed pairs were always either human or elf, nothing in between. What's curious, I'm pretty sure there was some mention about half-dwarves...

I think maybe I'll alternate between flirting and dismissing her. The heart wants what the heart wants, but it doesnt mean the brain has to agree all the time.

Poor things gonna be very very confused.

Good to know.  I'll be sure to always get my ship fully upgraded then.

Side note, I completed a run of ME1 yesterday so I could have a charcater to import into ME2.  Damn, there's nothing like playing the original to make you appreciate everything they improved in the sequel!  Not that ME1 was bad, but there so much about ME2 that's, well, better.  And now I have a character whose choices I am happy with going into ME2.

Ugh. Second playthrough of ME2, STILL lost someone at the finale. Very frustrated, and not sure what I did wrong this time >_<

So, um, not to be overly cranky or anything, but why talk about ME2 here when it has its own forums?

Mostly 'cause I kinda like the folks that hang out in this thread and I never really look at anywhere else on the forums much.  I could go there, but I won't have the same community I have in this thread.

We've rambled and moved around a bit on subject matter, but it's the tone I like the most.

Cause at 97 pages, tangents are expected Posted Image

By the way I took that test and got labeled a "rational mastermind", which sort of makes me think about a career change to professional evil genius.

Exactly.  It's hard to find a good community in an online forum, especially a public one.  Most of the threads here in the DA forums lately have been on topics that have already been discused at length before.  New players show up, see how many pages of threads there are and decide it's not worth searching for their topic and create a new thread.  I've ventured into the ME forums a couple of times, but so far nothing there has really caught my eye.

I used to be a member of a privately owned forum dedicated to gaming in general and restricted to adult (age 18+) members only.  It was a great community and I enjoyed my time there for a while.  There's a problem with privately owned servers, though.  The owner can set whatever rules he wants and enforce them in any manner he wants.  The guy who owned this one had a nasty habit of interpreting any disagreement with him as a personal attack and banning anybody who disagreed with him too many times.  Eventually I got fed up with it and left.  Haven't found a place like that since.  Then again, I haven't really tried.

First off... spoiler. I've been working really hard to avoid the Crew topic. Second... You got Kelly killed too?! My secretary always survives.

Having internal debate over whether to start anew with another class (played Soldier & Adept, which leaves Infiltrator and Vanguard as my next two preferred choices, but Sentinel also sounds fun... Engineer does nothing for me though) or to reload one of my previous endgame saves and try to keep everyone alive. I think my renegade playthrough as an Adept cost me the win last time, since I had to keep my heavies with me. As a soldier, with that sweet assault rifle from the derelict collector ship (not to mention taking Warp Ammo with my advanced training), I think I could solo the entire base.

Unless I ran out of ammo...

I highly recommend at least one soldier playthrough.

I've been playing on Hardcore with the intention of cranking it up to Insanity on my next run. I find myself soloing quite a bit, as my crew just can't seem to stay up for more than a few seconds against these enemies. I have to say, the higher difficulty levels in ME2 are ridiculously hard. Every single enemy has a shield, barrior, or armor, so about the only abilities I ever get to use are the ones designed to break through those defenses. Well, and defensive abilities of course. Currently playing a Sentinel, and I find myself spamming the Tech Armor ability quite a bit.

Rolling Infiltrator this time. The invisibility aspect is fun, though it has a long cd and only lasts a few seconds. Doesn't seem to come off the instant you shoot, but only lasts another second or so. Enough to spam another shot if you're not using the rifle. Looking forward to getting the rifle that has more than 10 shots, though. Even if that means not one-shotting everything.

One thing they don't mention is that you get a time-slow with the sniper scope up, that was a pleasant surprise. I might be wrong to be taking warp-ammo for my advanced training, but I like that it works on everything.

Yeah, your expendables don't have much better AI than they did in ME1. Though they will at least notice the cover this time around, and maybe even head toward it. And then stay exposed way too long and die anyway. And pop out of cover against one of the giant mechs with laser death spam guns. And they don't seem to think to USE abilities like Overpower or Warp when up against Shields / Armor, respectively. Or just warping every GD thing in sight, like I did on my Adept. They don't set up biotic combos, either.

Insanity mode would be trivialized by having three decent players instead of one player and two AIs, is what I'm saying. I guess.

Infiltrator was fun, and yeah that slowmo sniper zoom rocked pretty hard. Just wait 'til you get the anti matter sniper rifle. It's so powerful it's like a single target heavy weapon. Equip the visor and get the sniper rifle head shot upgrade, and you'll be dishing out some massive damage.

Antimatter sniper rifle? Lemme guess, that's what Infiltrator gets from the Collector Ship mission? It's where my soldier got his kickass assault rifle. But my biotic only had the choices of learning how to use another weapon... I went assault rifles again for ranged firepower & accuracy. Wonder what the other classes get? I'd assume Vanguard gets a new shotgun? What does Sentinel get? I'd ask about Engineer... but who the hell cares about Engineer? >.>

Already got the visor. Just researched Armor-Piercing for sniper rifles. Would still really like a sniper rifle with more than 10 shots in it. Soon...

Yeah, that's where you get it. It's an anti matter cannon that Sheppard can use as a sniper rifle. The description says any ordinary human being would shatter their arm if they tried to fire it. I guess Sheppard's cybernetic implants included shatter proof arms. Hmmm... My sentinel hasn't reached that point yet, but I'll let you know what he gets when he does. Vanguard was the first class I played and I don't recall getting a special shotgun there. I took assault rifles. It might have been an option, though. Generally the first time I play a game I kind of rush through it just to get the story so I wasn't paying as much attention as I probably should have.

It was just a guess, it's clear that at least some classes get sweet new weapons (the ones that deal 99% of all damage with guns, like soldier and infiltrator) and some just get training in a new kind of weapon (Adept & Engineer at least, I would guess). I would just think that a sweet shotgun and Charge were made for each other.

Yeah, my first instinct when I saw "will break arms!" was that it was a weapon for Grunt or something. I suppose I forgot about Shepard's unique status. Not that I'd have taken a shotgun over my 80-round per clip assault rifle anyway. I could just unload Scarface style and never seemed to run out of ammo...

I do not approve of the Heavy Pistol, personally. Decent damage, but only 24 shots? Really? Man, the future sucks. It's my fallback weapon, normally. SMGs are just so inaccurate.

Which is the biggest difficulty I'm having playing a Sentinel on Hardcore. I can barely hit anything with my smg unless I'm at point blank range, and my pistol doesn't carry enough ammo to get the job done. I have to either spam tech armor and try to get in range to put my smg to good use, or rely on warp to do most of my damage.

In an attempt to remember the topic:

We head up to the windmill to meet Teagan after much slaughter in the town of Redcliffe.

Me: You guys stay here.  Teagan and I are going to...check out the secret passage.

[Short period of black screen]

Teagan: Wham, bam, thank you my lady.

Isolde: Teeeeeea-

Me: Zip it, lady.

Isolde: Who IS this woman, Teagan?

Me: Your worst nightmare if you don't shut your pie hole.  Get back to the castle.  Alistair, Teagan, and I will be there shortly.

Isolde: But I...

Me: Yeah, you wanted to tell us a bunch of half truths to hide the fact that your son's been possessed.

Isolde: He said that I had to...

Me: I don't care what he said.  What's he going to do, raise the dead at us?  Oh, wait, too late!  Get your happy behind up to the castle and tell "him" we're coming.

Isolde: [wails incoherently]

Me: Teagan, Alistair, Dog, you're with me.  Let's go kick some zombie butt.

Morrigan: Technically, these are walking dead.  Aren't I going with you?

Me: Are you going to be a ****?

Morrigan: Probably.

Me: Then go with Her Annoyingness and entertain the troops.  We've got work to do.

On the bright side, it sounds like Sentinel will be one of those classes that gets to learn a new weapon on the Collector ship.

Yeah, Adept was a little rough for me early on too. Luckily I took Slam for my Advanced Training. Nothing says fun like taking down a swarm of Husks one by one with Slam & full cooldown reductions. For such a short cooldown, it is pretty good damage. Maybe you should try it?

Side Note: The thread is nearing 100 pages. We've been plenty offtopic in the past. Like the conversation about favorite TV shows. At least ME2 is another Bioware game ^_^

Some ME2 humor. Sorry for this, my mind is in the gutter today it seems.

Gianni: You helped me nail the administrator on Noveris

Me: I don't recall ever forming a wobbly H with you and him....

Gianni: Excuse me?

Me: Oh! You meant arrest him... Yes. Right. I help with that.

Later....

Gianni: I love nailing Asari.

Me: Me too! Let me tell you about this one time with Liara T'Soni...

Gianni: Er.. Ahem!

Me: We're. . . not on the same page again, are we?
