I've been uncomfortable with the review bombing and other tactics that the Retake group has been using, and supporting serious damage to Bioware finally crosses the line.
For the record I don't support hurting them, I do support the right of the consumer to get a refund when not satisfied by a product.
Frankly the gaming/entertainment industry is way behind others in holding up to thier marketing promises.
I'm holding on to mine hoping Bioware and EA will resolve the issue in a proper manner... though if somebody is truly unhappy they have every right for a refund.
Holding the Line. McBeath.
I just want to point this out quick, you need to read up more on the #retakemasseffect group. They are NOT like that at all. You may have a few people saying they are part of that group and a the same time threating BioWare which #retakemasseffect is NOT about.
Know your facts before you post please!
From their Facebook Page:
About
Bioware is a business if we can make them understand that by using the current endings they alienate (no pun) their customers, and destroy the replay ability of the trilogy they are hurting their profits we CAN bring about a change for the better.DescriptionThe #RetakeMassEffect movement does not in anyway condone attacks or insults on Bioware, EA, Bioware employees, or anyone associated with them. We are not here to make enemies. We are here to show a company that their devoted fanbase has been hurt, and alienated with some of their actions, and to ask for an explanation, and hopefully a solution.
Several members of the ME team are suffering from attacks on their Twitter and social networking sites. Rude, and inflammatory remarks are UNACCEPTABLE. Anyone found to be contributing to such activities will be removed from the #RetakeMassEffect movement without warning.

Bioware won't lose money on this.
Yea, they will... Amazon as a company has every right to get their money back.
Not if it's been sold to a 3rd party before... distributors are also often stuck with products(that's why you see them on sale)... it's not like Walmart can return a product to the manufactorer if it doesn't sell can they?
no way is amazon 3rd party, amazon is 2nd. I know 2nd parties that are smaller than amazon. Heck i work at a small company that is 2nd part for Playspan, Nexon, CCP, as well as a few other companies
Amazon itself isn't third party - but they host third party sellers - some of which sold brand new wrapped copies of ME3. I wonder if third party copies can be returned?
Depends on Amazon's stance, we get our 3rd party ME3 from a different company... we cant give refunds and its been nothing but a nightmare to go to work cause of it.

Except the product wasn't crap.
Except it was. Gameplay wise, the game is mediocre. Story wise - the ending nullifies the entire story pretty much, so it's a moot.
Um no it wasn't crap, the gameplay was addictively fun (especialy when you start experimenting with different classes) and the story was pretty good despite the endings.

IIRC Amazon's return policy is more or less 30 days for defects and obviously issues like what we're seeing.

Man...we've playing this game for like 5 years. I don't like the fact that my response was "what the hell' after watching the end. I shouldn't have any questions at all or feel confused.
I've been playing this series just about as long as anyone and if you pay attention to what is going on in ME 3 there is alot of resolution to different arcs throughout the game.
I hope your just a troll and not someone who actually believes what your saying. May I please direct you to this video - www.youtube.com/watch
Yes, I agree that not the whole product is crap if you want to get technical. But they (Bioware) certainly do owe us DLC or some other form of compensation for that dreadfully aweful ending if they want to keep their customers happy.

It was addictive, then the ending makes you feel like a smoker going cold turkey!

That being said super pissed about the ending and likely will not be buying any more ME DLC... Hell I liked Bioware's game so much that I own copies of DA 1, ME 1 and 2 for xbox and PC (go steam) because they are that awesome and it was fun playing it on a PC when I finally upgraded. Definitely wont be doing that for ME3... way too many plot holes and illogical last minute changes that are stupid for me to want to bother playing it more then once. I'd rather play some more Baldur's gate.
Pretty big on Amazon do offer this, considering most peoples problem is with the last 1% of the game. But then their main business is not selling video games and ME makes an even smaller fraction of that business... so it makes sense for them to have awesome return policies. I'd expect other major box store companies to offer similar refunds if the stink gets big enough. (Harder for EBgames/Gamestop to do the same).
Plus to be fair I enjoyed the first 35 hours of my 36 hour journey through ME3... and don't give me any whaaaaay no nice ending BS... this is about plot inconsistency, cowardliness and lack of continuity between the games. Hell between ME3 and ME3's ending.

Another question I have is, I don't remember any other distributor doing something like this, is this a first? If it is, this will turn out very badly for BioWare.
Not that I want to see something like this happen, but BioWare REALLY NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING about this and ASAP (if this Amazon return is true). This is very bad media for them and I do feel sorry for the employees (who did not have any input with the ending

Geez, I don't like this. Yeah I didn't like the endings and I want them changed, but I don't want to hurt Bioware.
Bioware made a mistake, doesn't mean we should attack them like this. If we hurt Bioware by getting refunds it'll effect the quality of their products as a whole, and regardless of your opinion on the ending, none of you would be here now if their games weren't beautiful masterpieces overall.
So please everyone, I know you patient is strained, I know your trust has been afflicted, but give them another chance, they deserve it and you all know it.
Relax, it's not going to hurt Bioware. Just try to think of the sheer volume of copies that would have to be returned before their bottom line was dangerously affected. At best, this will be enough of a financial blip that it'll annoy Bioware enough to address the complaints. And I'm skeptical it will even amount to that, personally. Thinking Bioware is going to be destroyed or maimed somehow by some returns is just losing perspective. If anything, it's more bad press than real harm.

I did get ME3 from them, but...I won't be asking for a refund. Do I feel like I got what I paid for? Uh, no. Way too much $ for something that has all replay value destroyed (IMO) by the way it ended. I have zero interest of ever touching it again at this point. But I did get enough enjoyment from it, from the first play through...before that stupid beam charge, anyway...that I wouldn't feel right getting a full refund now. If I could just get back a quarter of it or something, I'd totally go for it, but that's just me.

"Astonishing. I don't know what to think about this. On the one hand my CE cost me a lot of money, but I support the Retake movement and hope something can be salvaged from this mess. On the other hand if there is no real way forward and Bioware insist this is it, how long can I legitimately hold onto my CE before I can no longer receive a refund?"
Pretty much where I'm at.

having said that, if amazon wants to kick them in the nuts, i wont complain. i wont complain because it will get a reaction out of bioware, and we at least deserve to be talked to, not passed off as whiny gits. let Amazon be a business, and see what happens.
Also, wouldn't be surprised if the dude that instigated this is a disgruntled customer of biowares that works for amazon, not at all, but i would be surprised if he was a member of retakeME
