****ed up the ending, but I have read very few threads about how it could have been better.
Here is my take on how you can easily patch in a new ending, making the
game even longer.
As you watch Anderson die, and Illusive Man
kill himself, the child of course appears, telling you to make 3
choices, the blue. the middle, or Red. Make
your choice and then, suddenly you hear the child say, "Now Shepard,
wake up."
Shepard awakens back in the Normandy, confused,
sweating, the entire thing a dream, or was it? Maybe this was the
beginning of Indoctrination, showing it's victim the future, the dark
future of death, destruction and despair, making them believe that
nothing will work, turning them to the Reapers side. Joker calls in,
telling Shepard that the combined fleets that have been prepared are
waiting in the Call Area in the War Room(Where the holographic cams are
that you talk to Hackett and Anderson on). When Shepard enters the War
Room, he checks the Readiness rating and, depending on your decisions in
the dream sequence, it will either be the same (the odds are even or
bad) if you made bad choices, or if you did good, they will say that the
odds are against the reapers and that Humanity has a chance.
Now
comes the first main choice, after seeing the future, you can tell the
combined fleet to stand down, ending the game right then and there,
Earth is destroyed as well as the rest of civilization, the end credits
roll and, at the very end, it shows the dawn of a new civilization
coming up and there, they find the black box that Liara created that
detailed everything including Shepard.
Or, you can choose to tell
them about your vision, which then black screens to indicate time
passing, this will increase the war readiness of all the ships as they
now know what to expect once they enter the relay. They wish each other
luck and look at Shepard and ask if he would like to give one of his,
maybe his last, inspiring speeches. Here he can give the Usual Paragon,
Renegade, or neutral-esque speeches that are given to you, as you give
the speech, the cinematic goes to the Human fleet, with Admiral Hackett
looking at a video of Earth being attacked, a manly tear running down
his face as he listens in. Then it goes to the Turian fleet, calibrating
their weapons to fire with both deadly precision and destruction. Then
the Krogans, readying their weapons, aiming down the sights, preparing
for ground assault. Then to the Salarians (if ya got them), preparing
themselves the same as Krogans, but also with stealth fields on for
tactical precision strikes. Then finally, if ya got them, the Rachni who
are in deep space on the hulls of the ships, making last-minute repairs
to the ships. As Shepard finishes his speech, every race unites under a
single chant for victory, all the while a inspiring orchestra is
playing.
They go through the Relay and towards Earth, more
prepared then in Shepard's dream, the music that makes Mass Effect
awesome playing again, this time a war-like song. The Combined Fleet
don't make the same mistakes as happened in the dream, the weapons are
more calibrated for longer range, destroying many reapers before they
can get a lock, the smaller fighter crafts are able to coordinate
better, taking out numerous Reaper Fighters and even a few of the larger
ships. The ground squads are able to get in with more force and
precision, the Fleet blasting their way through to give cover this time.
Shepard lands where Anderson was last given orders and reports to him.
There are more men now, a bigger base, the turret already in use and
firing at any husks that come into their line of sight. Shepard can once
again talk to everyone, wishing them luck as they make their final push
once more.
When Shepard is ordered to make sure the Missile
Launchers are in place, he sees that they had taken his advice and taken
a more secured area for the missiles, taking a defensive position as
well. Here, Shepard can order them to either fall back with the rest of
the army, or help lure the Reaper that is wrecking havoc closer to them
to destroy it. Neither are Paragon or Renegade, allowing players to
choose whether to have them help out, risking their death, or pulling
them back for what may be the final push. After luring the reaper
towards them and destroying it with all four missiles this time. They
make it to the Portal. (Now, if that Reaper was Harbinger, then the
portal is clear, but since I don't remember, lets pretend it wasn't)
Here, Shepard sees Harbinger who roars his disapproval and says one last
time to Shepard that he will not win. In which Shepard says, along the
lines, "We already have won against you." Just as the ships that made it
in orbit start damaging Harbinger and Joker, flying the Normandy, comes
in low and fires the Thanix Cannon point blank into Harbinger,
destroying it once and for all. The soldiers surround the portal but do
not enter as Shepard gives the command to hold the line and that he must
enter alone. He can wish all his squad members, from ME1, 2, and 3,
good luck and say what just may be his last goodbyes, he shakes hands
with a still well Anderson who smiles at Shepard and says something
like, "This will be a day that Humanity will never forget, and you can
bet they will make a statue honoring you.".Your romance will be the last
in the line, if you romanced Tali like I did (though I'm going to go
back for Liara) Then she will remind Shepard of the promise he made in
which he responds with a Han Solo answer "I Know" and then enter the
portal.
Instead of the long corridor of bodies that leads to an
unknown part of the citadel that none have known of, you enter a long
hallway that leads to the Citadel's council room, the place where it
began with Saren. As Shepard makes the long walk(No running) He sees the
shadows take shape and form all the crewmates that died, starting with
Jenkins, who either nods at Shepard or gives him a dark look, depending
on how you treated his body, then Pressly, then the crew members who
died on Virimire (Wrex for some and either Kaiden or Ashley), then all
the Squad members who had died on 2 (if any) then those of three, Legion
and Mordin(if they died). The rest take the form of the Krogans,
Humans, Turians, Salarians, and Asari that died fighting for what
Shepard believed in, a unified universe. The last shadow he sees is of
the small boy who just points towards the Council Area and disappears,
along with the rest of the shadows.
Shepard goes up to the main
controls and sees IM(Illusive Man) there, breathing heavily, angrily, he
turns towards Shepard to reveal that he seemed to have been injured
somehow, his face and part of his chest is burnt off and showing the
blue form of a husk, he questions Shepard, asking him why he did what he
did. Shepard only responds that he is doing what he thinks is right
(paragon). Here you can either make the choices of talking the IM down,
making him shoot himself, or shoot him yourself. After that ordeal,
Shepard starts walking towards the controls, but is stopped as IM
suddenly stands up and lets out a large burst of energy, sending Shepard
flying backwards and into the center of the Council Room, the IM has
taken the form of a Husk, but not entirely, like Saren but not agile. IM
Starts talking to Shepard with 3 distinct voices, and IM's body adds two
more colors, Orange and Green to the blue. The voices start telling
Shepard that the Harbinger that He watch die was one of the 3 original
Reapers, the Harbinger of Death, the other 2 were the Harbingers of
Despair and Destruction, Despair sounded calmer but crueler, Destruction
was louder, angrier, more menacing, the third voice was IMs, though he
is technically dead. Here a boss fight plays out, the IM Husk is slow
like a banshee without it's teleport ability, but it's still deadly with
a slow but powerful long range kinetic blast, a short range machine gun
like attack, and a melee attack for up close.
(I won't go into
detail about how the boss fight plays out unless asked)When you get the
boss to half-health, the beast screams in pain and now only Destruction
remains, using both it's voice and IMs, it sounds like Orson Welles'
Unicron(In which Pants shall be shat) it's deadlier but still kill-able.
Once you defeat him, Destruction will try to destroy you(heh) but
suddenly IM stops Destruction, giving Shepard enough time to kill him.
Orange disappears, leaving a fading blue and IM's last words were of
thanks to Shepard before the blue fades away, revealing his original eye
color, a tear running down his face.
Shepard looks down at IM
before going to the Main Controls on the Council and inputs the code to
fire the weapon. All the reapers in the Universe are destroyed, cheers
can be heard through the com as they congratulate Shepard.
The
Epilogue shows the Squadmates, old and new, getting medals for their
work in taking down the Reapers, those that died in duty are
posthumously recognized and statues of them erected on both their home
world as well as the home worlds of the main races and on the Citadel.
Now comes the part everyone wanted to know.
-If you give the
Krogans the cure, then they give birth at a quick rate, repopulating
both Tuchanka and the other planet they were given, but soon civil war
again breaks out over land and space, but they never expand outward any
more because of their new found respect for the main council.
-Garrus
finds out that his Sister and mother had escaped at the last second and
they were waiting for him to return home, he takes a shuttle back to
his home planet to see them.
-The Rachni leave Citadel space and go back to their own home planet to play their music in harmony.
-The
Quarians and Geth work together to rebuild their home on their home
planet, some of the Quarians have no need of their breathing gear any
more as they immune system has strengthened more rapidly than others.
-The
Asari were able to rebuild their home planet once again, Liara helping
them using her archeological skills as well as her 'contacts'
-the
Citadel was moved back to it's place, the council members that survived
were put back and those that didn't had to be re-elected, though it had
to once again be repaired. They no longer feared the Reaper threat.
A
end-credits showed show Shepard, now an old man, with his now-aged love
interest (in my case, a fully dressed, no breathing gear, Tali) looking
over the burial place of all those that died in the fight against the
Reapers, he is standing over a Grave, the cinematic zooms in to show
that the grave he is looking at is Mordin Solus'.
This would be what happened if they made the same choices I did.
If
I missed any, tell me and I will tell you what I think happened,
remember I posted in the Title that there will be spoilers, so don't
complain to me if I or anyone else spoiled something, damnit.
Will edit for punctuation, grammar, and anything else later. Will also explain what I think about how the Reapers were created, what would happen if you didn't cure Genophage, etc. Just ask
