It really is kinda shocking, how this whole thing has illuminated the simple fact that the gaming press is not on the side of the gamers, and probably never were to begin with. In a dispute between the gamer and the developer, they will back the developer every time. For all the gaming sites that try to put on an air of counter-cultural rebellion and "we're too cool to conform," they're all slaves to their masters.

Ugh, I'm so worried because of all this. For a bit there, I actually felt like Bioware was hearing us. Now, with all these articles talking about how stupid we are and that Bioware should keep their ending for ~artistic integrity~ (because a shoddy, nonsensical ending apparently counts as high art now), I feel like Bioware is going to feel justified in ignoring us. What little hope I had is bleeding away.

Then you remember that the price of ME3 is slowly going down through multiple outlets, sales have dropped 74%, and Amazon is offering full refunds for opened copies of the game.

I take no pleasure in doing this, BioWare, but you have forced our hand! (That was a joke.)

I lost all faith in "gaming journalists" when they were quick to bash us, insult us and so on without knowing the full story behind the movement. They were quick to label us as entitled and whiners etc.But who can blame them for not speaking against their boss.

What do you...

Oh its you.

You pop up in just about every thread saying the exact same thing. And even though many people respond with valid counterpoints to your arguments, you ignore them or dismiss them as "haters".

If anything, you have no credibility.

and then KotorEffect3 was a 4chan.

Good grammar and well thought out statements on 4chan? My God, the Reapers are coming!

Someone needs to photoshop a picture with Paul Revere on a horse and Reapers in the background.

Lol. I like it. Will definitely have to do that when I get access to my laptop.

If people try to follow our forum rules, it does not matter what other forums they may or may not be affiliated with. Let's get this thread back on topic, please.

Ontopic?: 4chan is the arse of the interwebs, they can only hurt the cause.

Holy Space Magic, I didn't know that! How is this not a sign that Bioware dropped the ball at the last possible moment? Or as one of my favorite article titles states... Snatched Defeat from the Jaws of Victory?

Valid point.  This is barely ME3 related.  I am moving it to the Off Topic forum, where it can continue apace.

C'mon, they're not that bad. Mass Effect 3 general are a bunch of bros that support Retake. Don't assume the entire website are insane pedophiles, that's just /b/.

I see most of the internet is still under the impression that 4chan=/b/. Also the fact that you agree with the sentiment in that post yet belittle it simply because it comes from 4chan speaks volumes about you.

4chan has more credibility than most people believe, those guys are everywhere... Sure the /b/tards and /v/irgins can seem bitter, jaded, and odd, but that post is spot on. Also if anyone has been to /v/ at all lately, many are just as equally pissed off about how BW chose to end ME3 as everyone is here. That's just my opinion though, no need to go spreading it around or anything.

Nothing wrong with 4chan, honestly.

Yeah, there's the few who stick out and make it look like a hive of scum, but there's those sorts of people in every community.

Infighting isn't what we need to be doing right now.

I understand the disdain about them, I do.

4chan isn't a collective being.

There's literally dozens of boards, each with their own type of posters & personalities.

I see so many people associate 4chan with /b/ and then not care anymore. /v/ (and in association, /vg/) are decent boards full of people who just like video games and are a bit jaded. That's it.

/v/'s been losing their **** over ME3 since before the game came out, I would hardly expect them to change their opinion now.

This is partly why I stick to /tg/ for the most part. /tg/'s just a bunch of neckbeards that shout BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD, belittle weaboo Eldar lovers, and get **** done, and God bless 'em for it.

we hurt them because they hurt us, they hurt us because we hurt them. Destructoid, IGN, etc, they're just part of the rabble now.

This shouldn't be a shock to anyone, gaming news sites are just doing what "real" news outlets did to the tea party and then to the occupy movement, they find a small group of people who have no clear message and are just raging to rage and then latch onto that group as if they made up the entirety of the group. The best way to do that is to distance yourself and your group from those knuckle heads.

Pretty much this. Every so often you find a diamond in that pigsty.

YES THANK YOU!

I never go on there myself (too many times have I taken a peek at a thread and seen shock imagery and left in a huff) but every so often I see posts/actions taken by them that restores my faith in them a little.

They really do represent the internet at it's finest;
Full of poo, but every so often you'll find a gem hidden within that poo-pile.

Not the first "diamond" I've seen on /v/ regarding this - a number of posts on there have been right on the money about this mess from the get-go.

Weather you like it or not, think it's art or not, that line is true. An artists shouldn't compromise unless he wants to.
No one should try to force me to change the story I wrote and I am satsified with... even if you think it's the crapiest thing in existence.

And the irony of accusing Journalists of putting all protesters under the same blanket, and then doign the exact same thing for journalists.

All this "them" and "us" ... BS ....

You are your own worst enemy. A unpleasant truth.

^ I beg you, let's not get into post-modern art and question what art is, PLEASE.

It's obvious that this piece of art had a strong, solid fanbase. It's fanbase pays for quality and the last piece of art in the installment was a rushed trainwreck. If we pay for the art, then we have a right to ask for change or refunds. If it was just to look at, and was for free, then we don't.

No one is "forcing" anyone to do anything - it's simply the free market in action. "Art" or no, customers are dissatisfied with the product they purchased, and have made their feelings on the matter loud and clear.

Whether the company responsible for said product chooses to indulge the customers or not is up to them - but it's likely many of those customers will be lost if they don't, and that will put a damper on both the company's image and profits.

Quite simple, really.

It is a fair criticism that fans aren't out there demanding re-shoots of feature films.

The development costs for a game like ME3 are on a par with the most expensive summer blockbusters, and "re-making" the ending would be just as challenging.
