Nice to know the option is there in case we get jack diddly.

I'll keep my copy until we get a definitive answer.

If EA/Bioware start to lose too much money because of this whole ending fiasco, they might just decide it's better to cut their losses and forget about making a new ending...

I don't want a refund. I like most of the game, and I want to buy merch and new titles from Bioware once they fix the craptastic ending. I'm not going to hit them with a stick when I want the carrot.

Your title for the thread is ridiculously misleading...

EA is not "offering" anyone a refund... "Offer" means that they extend the invitation to people for whatever it is they're .... offering... en masse.
You contacted them, and complained about thier product, so they offered YOU a refund - not everyone else.

You word the title to make it sound like EA offers up EVERY purchaser of ME3 a refund... when clearly that's not the case...

Talk about putting spin on things... seriously. Stop spreading lies.

...And what does getting a refund accomplish you, exactly?

They can probably spend the money on something they like more.

*sigh* so far I can't get a refund.

Don't know if I'd do it just yet, but...

Everyone should do this.

The only way they're even going to think about changing the ending is if their profits start going down fast. If most people just keep the game and stay quiet they're not going to change anything.

Just keep the money you get back aside somewhere in the rare chance they do make a better ending. Plus, you'll probably be able to pick it up at a discount so you'll actually be making money.

I really loved the game until the ending, so I would rather keep the game if it can be saved. Even if no ending DLC does happen, I figure my $60 is the last money Bioware will see from me, and I can be happy with that. If DLC does happen, I do not want to have returned a mostly-awesome game to have to purchase it again.

I agree with everyone saying they don't want refunds. I don't want a refund. I just want the game I paid for.

Read my post, bro-ham.

Return the game but keep that money aside somewhere. If they improve the game then just buy it again at discount, and make a small profit.

Why would they change the endings if the people that don't like the endings return it.  It makes more sense to cater dl to those who actually have the game.

As they should, it violates consumer protection laws about false advertisement!

Now I'm not saying class action law suit...

Interesting. I'm gonna try this myself. $90 was too much money for ME3, hate to say it.

Same boat here man. Good to hear some of those that got screwed by the ending can get their money back. Well if i can't do anything about getting some sort of closure on the game or money back, its a lesson since the only 2 games i bought early MOO3 and ME3 burnt me.

Because they want that money back. Look, these companies really pay attention to their sales. If those start going down big time they're really going to start working to stop that. And they know what the major problem is: the ending.

My chinchilla senses are tingling.

You guys know that it's highly likely that return numbers will be monitored closely. This would be the most solid sample of disgruntled consumers Bioware/EA could obtain and that's a sword that can swing both ways, based on the numerical figures.

Also, it's clearly a PR tactic, given the joint acceptance of returns from big-name retailers- assuming all the info is accurate. Now, I'm no PR guy but I do know enough about strategy to see an opponent playing a hard hand. Not only can this divide the BSN further, but it can also be pushed as a non-issue if returns are low enough and a resolved issue if they are high enough. It also has the potential to fuel the "entitlement" crowd as there is now a perceived backdoor.

I would say: return the product. In the event that feedback is requested, make it clear that the product will be repurchased with a SERIOUS consideration of full support for DLC purchases if the ending is fixed. Cover your bases.

Because they want to protect the value of the IP itself, which can continue to be milked. An obvious impact shows up in a pie chart which even a brainless executive can read.

I would at least wait until BioWare makes a statement. I mean WTF we haven't even heard anything official in terms of what is going on with all of this and places are accepting refunds... let alone EA. Why can't they just sit down and tell it like it is before they lose every one to whatever this is? At this point it won't even matter what they have to say if it continues going like this in terms of vendors.

How would they get their money back.  You can't relaunch a game.  You can't assume that people will pay full retail price for something when you are budgeting out dlc.  You have to assume it caters to the existing customer base.

Mass Effect fans don't want a refund. They want a fitting end to a fantastic story. It's a matter of principle.

You act like this is a new thing, people have an obligation to give your money back for any myriad of reasons no matter what the product is, if you have your receipt, they -can't- say no to you. This is not a special case scenario, people return stuff all the time in stores this is just another example of that.

Uh no, no they don't. If a store has a return policy, THEN you may return items for your money back. You do not get to return opened goods for a full refund. What the hell kind of idea is that?

Most stores accept unopened merchandise, particularly when it's disc-based media. Taking back opened copies for a full refund is quite a generous offer.

So you were dissatisfied with the ENTIRE game?

Asking for refunds is, IMO, similar to walking out of the theatre in the middle of a movie. I would only do that if it was so god-awful that it is downright offensive.

At least EA is acknowledging to some extent of the frustrations we as fans and consumers have towards the craptastic endings to ME3. But I agree with majority that I will not return my copy for a refund, I plan on keeping my ME3 Collector's Edition.

But I don't want a refund. I want a good ending to the franchise, not multi coloured explosions of the same video.

^This.

But sadly we don't have any moral authority to demand a change to it. A refund will hopefully hurt them enough for dem to make an Ending dlc.
