Actually, if you take the rate of horse growth in previous Bioware games and divide that by DA we can reasonably expect to have horses in... 2016.

Horses would be a nice additive from a Builder perspective, even if they were unable to be ridden. A dialogue popping up when you click on a particular horse for example could be used to facilitate fast travel between two locales, as an alternative to traveling on foot via the world map and thus having to worry about random encounters.

Everyone knows the minute horses are added people will start whining and crying about lack of horse armour. then lack of horse customization then lack of armour horse customization then we'll end up with giant slabs of bacon in plastic packaging... i think i lost track of where i was going. anyways....

Kinda like taking the stage coach to help avoid 'Wild injuns'. Not a bad idea.
