Why on earth would you give a robot cameltoe and massive breasts, it's a stupid character design.
Love most character design in Mass Effect, especially the Illusive Man and such, but EDI is just stupid.

Maybe it's because she was originally Dr. Eva? And maybe it's because they needed her to look as human as possible under the Dr. Eva skin?

Why on earth does dr. Eva need a cameltoe and massive knockers then?

It ain't just Bioware but most game developers love making all female characters with big boobs.

I get it, and when the target audience is majorly male I can see that sex sells.
But damnit it's a robot.

Also if I were bioware I'd tone down the oversexualization, I feel half-way to a creep when I play ME3. And they're stuck in uncanny valley which makes it even worse.

it's human nature chaps. it's the nature of the world - even japanese make robots as 'female' as possible. XP

plus, i dont think anybody would enjoy Tricia Helfer's sexy voice in a Wal-i body XP

and joking aside - Edi is a splitting image of Jocasta from the Marvel Universe

Now I understand why Joker wants to do some biosynthetic fusion of his own with EDI.

Yes. EDI does in fact make me think of Asimov's robot stories.

Wow, you people amaze me. I had Edi have that skin and up until now i never realized that (nor checked her out that closely)

Edit:

I suppose its a big deal for those of us gamers who are living in a rather prude country. Then again... truth to be told, i don't find that asthetically appealing at all....

on the other hand... i didn't notice it on my placethrough despite having edi along a couple times... so i guess should i ever do another playthrough and it starts to bother me, i might start complaining about it too.

Something you just can't "unknow". (Like Nipples on Batmans Armor or pictures of him sleeping in one bed with a 6 year old robin)

This.

And as male I don't understand how this can be considered "sex sells". That is just wrong. Maybe this was Bioware's way of answering to Miranda criticism "You think the ass was bad? We give you something bad "

Not necessarily.  Depends on what all Dr. Eva's infiltration mission was supposed to include and just how much of a perv TIM is, I suppose.

Well if you CAN design a robot to go undercover you might as well make it seductive... That's EDI.

Whats the excuse for the rest of the characters? :D

Not just the li's but throw in some fatties, smokers and uglies and we would have a little wider (no pun intended) representation.

Lets try to stay on-topic please, I'm certain there are other threads where EDI's synthetic anatomy has been/is dissected to hell.

Yeah, the comparison with Asimov's Bicentenial Man is a good one. I can't speak for the movie adaptation, but as far as the short story goes, it does fit.
One common theme is defining what it means to be human and what it takes to be accepted as such.

Another "amusing" fact is that our robot (Andrew ?) defied all odds and succeeded at becoming human although with the price of his life. Nonetheless, his story touched and moved people that otherwise would have viewed him as a freak.

Like someone else whe know *cough* he stood true to his convictions and followed his dream proving mankind that synthetics have earned their place along organics.

At least he had a decent end...
