So I'm having huge issues with MP. The last 20 or so games I've played over the past four days have resulted in a disconnect at some stage in the last three waves.

There is no prelude indication to it happening, up until that point the game works fine.

The first thing I'll notice is the lack of damage to enemies then quickly realise that moving enemies or teammates continue their merry stroll in whatever direction they're going and about a minute later the "Connect lost" dialogue box comes up.

The only other time I've had issues like this is with BF3 multiplayer where it would kick me every second game about 5 minutes in - EA Help says they're aware of the problem but thats it.

Wondering if anyone has had issues like this and found even a temporary solution to it or work around. I've tried modem resets, security settings, everything and nothing works.

Pretty devo.

Edit: 6 days without resolution - EA Help still says aware of the problem and 'soon' on the availability of the fix.

Kind of fix - Windows 7 64bit
Edit: Discovered a kind of fix for it - however - sometimes 'quick match' sits there at connecting for eternity - and lag increase seems higher more frequently - however - have only experienced one disconnect in 5 games. Worth a shot if you're having trouble.

1) Go to start and run Services.msc (it will have a little cog icon when you search for it)

2) Scroll down the list and disable UPnP Device Host - (should be set to manual)
3) Scroll down and set SSDP to manual and stop if running.
4) Go to your Network and Sharing Center - Advanced Sharing Settings - and tick 'Turn off network discovery'

Seemed to resolve the issues (also to note is I had UPnP disabled in my modem settings prior to doing this steps from previous trouble shooting - so unsure if that would make a difference, but at this time, justy happy to be able to complete a few MP games).

This may sound obvious but have you tried enabling UPNP? That solved so of my issues. Also are you hosting when this occurs?

Have tried UPNP, even tired disabling all other devices using the modem and removing them from the modem webpage alltogether.

Either hosting or joining - the disconnect still occurs. Tried from two seperate PC's as well. Issue is still the same.

Edit: This is now a bigger issue for me than the ending.

OP, this was happening to me last night beginning shortly after midnight CST. Exact same symptoms.

I would notice no damage to enemies, then wasn't able to activate powers or refill ammo at the ammo crates. Then the disconnect message.

Until last night, I've had glitch free multiplayer.

I think its related to the chosen leader/host leaving/lagging out. No way to prove it here though :(

Hey,
I have a similar problem where my pc just disconnects from almost every game during the last waves.
I run a dualscreen setup so i can monitor my connection on the other screen while playing, and ME3 is the only program that disconnects.. I even tried using a VPN connection to make sure there were no firewall in the way..
This is kindof a sad bug since it results in a huge loss of xp and credits... :s
Anyhoot what is this UPNP ? An ingame setting or a firewall setting?

When I'm not playing during my time zones prime time i almost always lag out completely as described by the OP or have half my abilities pass right through enemies and rubberband like mad. Is there any kind of regional limitation on the quickmatch system?

why would you use a VPN to play an online game? VPN just (in most cases) connects you to a corporate network and it rarely avoids going through a firewall, in fact, it creates MORE hops for your data connection. Unless of course your VPN is set to route your internet traffic through your local connection and only work-specific traffic through the VPN to the DNS/DHCP hosts on your work network, and even then you're local traffic has to go through your router.

The only way you can avoid firewalls/routers is to plug directly into the cable/DSL modem.

Some games I can play for 2-3 missions and some I get dropped in the middle of the mission. With or without firewall, UPnP enabled, etc. The MP is simply buggy, I have a rule not to use more than one boost item per mission, in case I lose it from a dropped game.
It would be nice for Bioware personnel to at least acknowledge that you are reading/looking into this issue, as I've seen and commented on several posts about this and I have not seen a single post from Bioware in response.

Managed to solo a private bronze game to 8 - then it disconnected.

There is something else weird happening with it.

EA Technical help advised me that they were well aware of the issue and were working on a fix.

Their best ETA was soon.

One thing to add to my previous comment, I've also noticed that the same symptoms happen to me right before someone else drops. A lot of times, I'll not be able to refill ammo, revive a teammate and then when (if) the mission ends, I'll notice there's only 3 of us instead of 4.

That actually depends on how the host to server connection is managed when you're hosting. It is undeniably weird but it doesn't necessarily blow his theory out of the water.

Regardless of why, damnit, I am sick of disconnects. That and the store bug.

..yeah..but about 20 games in a row from 2 different systems with different settings? With no prior indication of lag?

..since the only other game I've had issues with is BF3 - I'm actually wondering if it has something to do with Origin.

Because the VPN i connect to has an open firewall :) It have helped connection issues in other games before.

Lag might be the wrong term then. Something screwing up the host/server connection isn't out of the question, anyway.

...Yeah, I would totally not be surprised if it turns out Origin is somehow related.

I've had the same problem until I turned UPNP off, that fixed it sort of.
however, I can't join friends while UPNP is off, so if I want to play with friends in a private game I have to turn it on, which also causes me to randomly disconnect again.

A lot of people are having this issue.

Problem must be solved shortly either making exp. points gained within waves not just only at the end of the game or fixing the connection issue, no other way i guess.

I have the same problem, but I've found a temporary 'fix'. I disconnect 25ish minutes after connecting without fail, so the following works for me.

I either play with friends, or I ask a random if I can add him as friend. If I disconnect, I just rejoin the game by going on Origin ---> join game from whichever friend is in there. Since you get most of the credits/exp from beating round 10, it works decently.

Actually if you time it right, you can finish a game, immediately start a new one, then disconnect around the 3rd wave. Then once you reconnect, you can finish the game no problem.

It sucks but it's the best way I've found to circumvent the bug for now. Hopefully they find a real fix soon.

That will result in the current level restarting for the remaining 3 people. I've seen that happen before and sometimes a random 4th will be added but not always.

Yes, in theory that is what should happen. However, I have seen the current wave fail to successfully restart so many times. More often than not an attempt to restart the current wave with a different host seems to just boot all the remaining players.

Any firewall that is 'open' is a security risk. The most 'open' any firewall should ever be would be to allow a specific port sending specific types of traffic (ipsec) to pass through, blocking all other traffic. VPN software also typically routes traffic that is not bound for your work network out to the internet as it would any other connection. Further, routers that are allowing IPSEC traffic also do a version of NAT that also can filter out one type of data packet from another. Plus any VPN solution, WILL create MORE hops in data transmission.

Any performance increase or stability you are claiming is negligible, but more likely, non-existent.

On another note, the fact that when the 'leader' of a game leaves, it forces some awkward remake instead of simply reassigning a new leader within the existing group. This is beyond annoying.
