Lol you've got to be trolling pal. So isn't it impractical that protheans and batarians have four eyes? Why on earth would you need four eyes?
Point is, our biological concerns need not be implied over to alien species. They're are ALIEN. Impractical for us may have actual PRACTICAL use for them. Who knows? Who cares really?
Exactly. So your complaint that the starfish shape of her head is impractical is NOT justifiable because you don't know if it actually serves her a purpose or not.

"Slow down"? "Want to tear the speaker's head off", more like, but this is the Internet and they have not yet invented devices for doing that over the Internet.Does anybody else's language recognition centers slow down to a crawl when they see should/would/could "of" instead of "have"?
On a more serious note, the thing that worries me is that the in-game photo has no indication of the glowing eyes we see through the facemask =)

Yep. Don't know about Batarians, but Javik mentions the Prothean's evolution as predators, and what predator wouldn't benefit from an extra set of eyes to watch prey? It's not just aesthetic, it can indeed be practical. But at that, the same thing would go for the Turian and Asari physiology. No less flawed than this design, and I don't think any more prone to injury. I suppose in a fight it would be nasty if someone grabbed that and pulled, but I'd imagine that kind of thing would end up as a societal taboo. Not to mention, again, Asari and Turian, same weakness.

That's the thing. Here eyes might not even glow. That could simply be an effect of the visor. I'd like to know why they need these translucent visors anyway.

Quarians are generally shorter and of slighter build than humans.
Quarians have an endoskeleton, lips, teeth, and two eyes with eyelids
and tear ducts; they also have three thick fingers on both hands which
include a thumb, an index finger, and a long fingers, similar to the
middle fingers for humans, as well as three toes on each foot. Quarian
facial structure and hair actually makes them the most similar to humans
in physical appearance. Their lower legs are bowed backwards
significantly, compared to asari
or humans. Aside from hands and legs, their general body shape and
sexual dimorphism is similar to humans. Their ears or ear analogues
differ in a noticeable fashion from those of humans, with references
made to "what [passes] for the quarian version of an ear".

Wow. That is one strange quirk. Kinda makes sense, in a weird "I was born, raised on and will die on a starship" kind of way.

That's what I'm thinking. Turian plates are, essentially, made of metal, and the Asari fringe is more compact (where are you supposed to get a decent grip?)daftPirate wrote...

The Quarian fringe in that fan art, though? Not so much. It just looks far too fragile - too delicate, especially in light of Grunt's evaluation that Quarians are tougher than humans. And as the other poster noted, the Codex invalidates most of our speculation anyway...
I'm not opposed to the design they chose, but that photoshop was just lazy.

I was just about to link this one. If there was a way to go into the game files, and swap the crappy 2 minute 'shoop job that's in there, and put this one in it's place, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
As far as I'm concerned, THIS is Tali. Period. Don't care what's on the picture Bioware put in, THIS IS TALI, and I will continue imagining her as such. Probably too late now, but if I were Bioware, I'd go pay that guy some money for his design, and quietly patch it in to change the picture. It fits the art style, it's alien without being TOO alien, and she manages to be "beautiful" (for an alien). It's very well done.

Aye, of the three, the Quarian fan-art certainly looks the flimsiest. I think if they reduced it significantly, into more of a ridged forhead(like a built in diadem kinda thing) and kept the dreads, it'd be spot on...for me, anyway. I think Humans, hairless Batarians and Krogan win in the head covering department over horned salarians, plated turians and tentacled asari. Comes down to it, Mass Effect is the one fictional universe where, given the choice to be any race I would pick human. Can't say that about any other fiction-verse I know of, but its not a bad thing.

I'm sure you could easily mod the photo into something else.
I bet someone will eventually, if no one has already. That's the glory of technology.

Not from what I understand, in fact dextro-amino foods may even taste on the sweet side. Your body would just not do anything (or much) with it other than flush it out as waste. It is highly unlikely it would be toxic unless the food had a pH value beyond our tolerance.SimonM72 wrote...
