This thread has gotten a bit out of hand. So many people with wildly different opinions on what Tali should look like... And for f*ck's sake, enough with the purple skin. Her clothing choices don't dictate her skin color. Is Kal Reegar red? Is Admiral Gerrel white? I wore a white shirt today at college. I'm still black. After spending their entire lives inside suits, the entire Quarian race's skin color should be extremely pale from lack of the skin's exposure to any suns... or air.

Mm, it depends on how their skin reacts to such things, and what color it was originally; but I understand the sentiment.

After several generations, It won't matter what their skin color used to be.  It would end up being extremely pale, even at birth.  Their adaptive bodies would get rid of melanin, or any other pigment, because they are all now superfluous.  So really, they should be a race of albinos at this point.

They probably look like Gollum now, they've been living in those suits for so long.

You're talking about it as though its been a thousand years; its hardly been 300. Skin color makes a drastic, if subjective difference; a black person will pale, but will still be darker than a white person given the same conditions, so its still a factor. I don't know what their adaptive qualities have to do with melanin production; because there is no advantagous reason to stop producing it, again, especially not after a few centuries.

Combine with the fact that they are an alien species, so you can't logically just apply human traits to them, regardless of how lazy Bioware was with how Tali looks.

Maybe so, but after 300 years with no exposure to sunlight, the difference is negligable.  My younger sister is darker than me, but it's negligable.  Also, I'm accelerating the Quarian's adaptation time because like you said, you can't just apply human traits to them.  If 300 years is long enough to wipe out their immmune system, then it's more than long enough for their skin to pale.  I'm using Human- like skin qualities because there are only so many ways that skin can work, Quarians are physically similar to humans in a lot of ways, and the dextro-amino DNA shouldn't affect it.  I'm human.  I kind of have to look at this from a human perspective.  Whenever people are learning something new, they try to make it familiar, to relate it to something they know.

On a somewhat related note, I think we can all agree that they have white eyes.  ^_^

In terms of her personality, cute yet fierce, her accent, and even the shape of her eyes, she always kind of reminded me of Björk, so I just made a quick comp of tali with Björk's face:

you know what....I would have totaly dug a Bjork render character model in game. Then when you went to go see Tali when she was getting drunk....you would hear the song in the back ground...."Violently Happy....because I love you...."

My thoughts, also shared by others is that their skin color is represented by the color of their visor as a hue reflection of some kind, inside their suit.  Like Raeger I think would have red skin, etc

Then draw whatever stick figure you can muster to represent your thoughts on what they should look like

I think I explained it quite thoroughly in my earlier comments.  And any type of drawing I attempt would be a massive embarassment to artists everywhere.

I don't normally post but I saw this thread and so had a quick doodle.

Spinal ridge used as a similar design to the geth & because I'm sure Grunt mentioned at some point that Quarians are tougher than they look.

Skin has faded over time being out of direct natural light (and I like purple)
Cybernettics have been fused to bone (likely because they never thought of being out of suit.

Anyway I might improve quality if I get the urge.

Enjoy and Doodle you all later!

And that is why I believed the lack of a human jaw was an integral part

I also feel that they are all different colored, Their visor color is actually a reflection of their skin color or something.  like there are different asari races from purple, blue, to whitish blue.  Kal' Raegar I think would be red, etc

That jaw reminds me of the thing. Otherwise, tali should look exactly as the player wants her to look like.

I'm not completely opposed to what BioWare gave us, but I would happily trade it for this depiction of Tali. It adequately fits the description we have of Quarians from the Codex and most importantly its pleasing to the eyes.

This is also my two cents, but I don't understand where people get the idea that Quarians lack a lower jaw like humans. The fact that they "facial structure and hair actually makes them the most similar to humans in physical appearance" and that they have lips I think clearly indicates that they do.

oh really like this one!

Looks like a pink Asari knockoff for Alien fetishists.

Sure the Quarians look human in the face and some parts of the body, but if you unlock enough stuff in multiplayer for them, you see that they actually have a broader range of skin tones than humans do.
