And if we believed Casey Hudson, who stated that there is absolutely nothing lesbian in romance with Liara, then it would look like that actually lesbians have no option at all in this game...
lol, again, I'm not actually touching up on the quality of said romances, because that gets rather subjective. I do hear you though--it seems as though Traynor's romance was more catered towards straight males wanting to see "That hot English Chick get it on with my girl shep" than an actual attempt to write an in-depth lesbian romance.
That said, that simply supports the fact that Bioware is further pandering to the Straight Male...the group that arguably is the least invested in romances to begin with.

i agree that Samantha's romance starts off pretty bad, but it is better than Kelly's which i might add is mostly "Shepard lets not..." "Kelly, these people can wait" "Well, i guess they can" and was probably ended when you start the endgame section, plus it ends with a good amount of emotion with the talk of settling down with fem!Shepard.
but that is my opinion

It needs to be stressed that a FemShep who romanced Jacob actually gets punished for it. Jacob goes disloyal nearly immediately, and hooks up (and gets pregnant) another woman. Jacob shows no remorse and blows you off, and the woman Jacob hooks up with actually says that she is "better for him" than Shepard. You get little elbow room to vent anger regarding this, and then it's done. It's more or less a slap across the face.
Looks like they listened to fan input about the most maligned character in ME2. Now people are complaining that he's treated Shepard poorly in the current game.
They can't win, can they?

In his defense, he was simply boring to most people. I found him fine in ME2, if a little drab. In my first playthrough as a MaleShep I thought it was neat how he settled down, kind of like how Garrus and Tali did if you don't romance either.
But to learn he blows off FemShep and more or less moves on in such a rude way makes him hard to like. His big gimmick was being morally just - a real stand-up guy - and he comes off like (as Renegade FemShep puts it) a bastard.

This bothers me. Jacob was pretty low on my "to romance" list, but someone somewhere must have romanced him. So to have that option taken away is really insulting. Especially since he was the only human option in me2 for females and some players don't want to hook up with aliens.
I'm fine with him hooking up with someone else if your femshep never made a move, but I don't see why the end result is currently the same regardless if you romanced him or not.

My FemShep is still waiting for a lesbian Tali Romance.
I understand you an other FemShep players wating Tali, but there's one big objection I'd make to Tali, Miranda and Ashley being bisexual/FemShep romance option.
There is one common thread that binds together all three of those characters - father issues/deaths.
Miranda - She has MAJOR father issues, obviously. The man created her to be carry on his legacy, and it's obviously he never really cared for her. Hell, he's tried to kill her.
Ashley - She didn't have issues with her father (not all time), but she was extremely close to him and he has passed on. She often cites him in ME as a big part of her life and why she enlisted in the first place.
Tali - She has both issues. He was always hard on her duirng her childhood, and during her ME2 loyalty mission, she actually questions if he really cared for her at one point - and then, to top it all off - she had to endure the trauma of actually seeing him dead.
Point being - I think all three of the characters need a man in their life to fill that void that they lost, or never even had in Miranda's case. That's just my two cents on the situation. I agree that FemShep players need more LI options, but these three really don't make sense for that, in my opinion.
I'm sure I'll get attacked for being intolerant or something to that effect, but that's just how I feel about it.

Similar logic says their daddy issues could turn them into lesbians. Maybe they don't need a man, but a strong woman to comfort them?
I'm fine with some characters being straight. Lots of people are straight in real life. Its also nice that you can know based on gender, that you are not going to hit on certain characters. I've had to reload more than once for being to paragon buddy buddy with a potential love interest I didn't mean to flirt with.
Still, sucks that so many of them are straight. I have only played femshep so I'm locked out of a lot of romances. Plus I would consider hooking up with them before Kaiden.

One thing I would have really liked is being able to flirt with characters who turn you down. Even if they said that Miranda (some I really want to romance) was straight, at least giving me the option to flirt with her and get shot down would have been appreciated. I mean afaik M!Shep gets to hit on Traynor, while you don't even get to ask Cortez if he is bi. So uh...yet more content for M!Shep that FemShep does not get in a mirror form?zennyrpg wrote...

Also more responding to them personally...I think that Tali has the most overt issue with her father, at least in the sense of living in her parent's shadow. Miranda has a very defined hatred of her father, but her issue to me seemed to be more in having to deal with being designed than with abandonment or living up to her father. Ash as well was more distanced...of the three I'd say that she does not really have any, least as I understand it.
Anyway point of the thread should be that M!Shep gets all of the things and we just get crumbs.

I might accept that for Miranda perhaps, but not Tali and/or Ashley.
Tali and Ashley have a void in their lives that can only be filled by a man, in my opinion. That's just the way I feel about that. Plus, Ashley inparticularly doesn't give off a lesbian/bisexual vibe. I just don't think it would make any sense for her character.

And this suggestion isn't even difficult to develop-it'd be another simple nod to other player sexual preferences that isn't straight male.noxsachi wrote...

I gotta say though, before I understood the mechanics behind the ME2 romances (you can't romance them unless you import them from ME2), I'm reaally surprised Tali didn't turn into a Bi option. Heck, she kind of admits to it in Mass Effect 2 with the linking suits thing!!

I agree OP! I'm a girl (Who loves Garrus and Kaidan (Separate playthroughs)) ,but I would have loved to have more options! Vega would have been perfect! (part of me still has hope for Joker..)
I felt exactly the same about James and Joker.
I waited 3 games to get a good romance option that suited me, and instead my Shep died alone

The problem is when it comes to Mass Effect, usually, when Bioware receives criticism on a particular aspect of the game, they don't try to fix it, they just remove it. Like the mako in ME1. Sure, driving the mako was a pain in the a**, but the feeling of exploration you got on the uncharted worlds was fantastic.
Same thing happened with Jacob. Sure, the opening lines, Hale's terrible voice directing and the last romance scene were laughable, but you had good material with this character. In ME2, he was the only one who asked FemShep how she was feeling.
In ME3, instead of fixing the issue of Jacob, they just get rid of him. I iunderstand they wanted to focus more on other aspects of the game, but it looked cheap.

Again, agreed. I'm not slamming the idea of Jacob essentially cheating on you--I just think that they absolutely should've fleshed out a confrontation scene a lot better. Perhaps at the end of this Jacob can admit that he still loves you, you're just not in the right place for him right now, and the two of you could come to somewhat of an understanding. Or you could argue with him as to how much he broke your heart, and how you can never forgive him.Karrie788 wrote...

More choice within the romance would've proven that, even though Bioware didn't allow it to continue, they were still focusing in on Straight Female players, and wanted to provide the content they deserved. Two conversation wheels just doesn't cut it.
