Adventures In Arnheim

DM'd Event
March 31st @ 7 PM PST
Set in Arnheim 

This is the first event in a series of events we will be playing in Arnheim. Players start with level 1 characters created using Arnheim's modifications. Characters will be server vault only. I will set up the server for players to create characters before the event. HAKSs will be available March 26th. If you are interested please sign up on Neverwinter Connections.

This first event is a prelude to a series of adventures in which the budding adventurers are travelling south on a road toward Adermarkt, a small trading post on Arnheim's southern border. At the start of the adventure you will be on the road in Falkswoud, with night coming on. Setting up camp would be a good idea.

A Night on the Road in Arnheim is filled.
If anyone wanted to play in Arnheim but was too slow to commit, the server will be open to play Sunday morning April 1st at 10am PST. Play on Sunday morning will not be an actual event, but I'll be around to liven things up. Who knows we may get inspired and have even more fun Sunday morning, BUT it will be impromptu, unplanned, off the reservation, and not necessarily have anything to do with what the players did the night before.

Saturday's Event was a success. Whenever we get pictures, we'll post them.

Now, Arnheim is open "post event" which means anyone can log in and poke around should they wish to. You will of course need a character and the CC.

Considering how casual the post game event was... and that most people are developers rather than players, I think I'll call it a post mortem in the future. :) Thanks for jumping in. I'm now off to RL.

Shared some pretty good ideas. The integration of your systems impressed me quite a bit.

And the music was good :-) In fact, I have no reservations at all in saying your use of sound was masterful.

 Did I say that? How presumptious. I am however proud of the looping dynamic sound generated when a player builds a fire. Tricky to do that in NWN.

 And the adventure continues in Arnheim. You are welcome to join us. We have four who played in the last event and can take on more. Especially if I have a second DM again.

The particulars:
Event: A Night On The Road (continued)
Setting: Arnheim  (Short Summary of Setting)
Schedule: April 14th, 7 PM PST. Two Hours of game time.
Characters: Same as last time or for new recruits a new character starting at level 1 which will only be playable in the Arnheim setting. (Character creation information)

We'll be picking up where we left off, at night having just returned to the campsite with shades flitting about in the dark. I've been making improvements to the immediate surroundings (and the AI for various creatures) and have a plan for more adventure. Prepare thy selves! Or ... uh ... show up and be present. Thats 90% of success anyway.

Send me a PM with contact info so I can coordinate with you. AND if you need to make a character let me know ASAP. I'll prep the character creation module and get it online for you.If more folks could share screenshots this time around, that would be great too.

So we've got the core four players and two DMs for Saturday's event in Arnheim. Others interested should PM me so that you can make a character.

I won't be running any post event on Sunday this time around. Just too busy this weekend. Will need to get some more work done for the RL gig. Maybe next time.

A good time was had, unfortuantely I took only one picture and that was just after the players logged out. Hopefully I'll receive pictures from the players like I did last time. Its all for the best anyway as my video card is very weak. Doesn't display all textures.

The night has ended, and with it the adventure at the bend in the road in Falkswoud, but the party still has some choice words they would like to share with that blasted bird, Crawford.

Event: Words with the Bird
Setting: Arnheim (Setting Summary)
Schedule: April 28th (6pm PST / 9pm EST)
Characters: Same as last time or for new recruits a new character starting at level 1 which will only be playable in the Arnheim setting. (Character creation information)

Setup:
The party has returned from the Realm of Shadows with Gil Walcott who they rescued. Crawford, the titular Bird, had promised information about a treasure belonging to four “stinky men” in exchange for rescuing Gil, but he has not yet made contact upon the party’s return.

In Adermarkt, a soggy tradepost at the bottom of Arnheim, on the shores of the Aderlating River where the Southroad ends, a three story wood and plaster building stands tall, Orman's Rest. Through its weatherbeaten shutters, a moist evening breeze carries the voices of the frogs with it to join the conversation by the fire, conversation over fish soup, and roasted boar, conversation amongst the boatmen in their leather coats, and cloaks, fisherman and fishwives clad in green, farmers in from a slow day preparing for the fall harvest, and the few peddlers with no place better to trade but sleepy Adermarkt, the outpost market on the Aderlating River.

Event: Orman's Rest
Setting: Arnheim (Setting Summary)
Schedule: June 16th (6pm PST / 9pm EST)
Characters: Same as last time or for new recruits a new character starting at level 1 which will only be playable in the Arnheim setting. (Character creation information)

Setup:
The party wandered south out of Falkswoud seeking Orman's Rest. They arrived in the early evening, and found a table where they could sit and eat. The Inn is full of interesting characters telling tales. This is a long way from the City of Arnheim, and perhaps beyond the reach of the Baron. None of his men in blue are seen tonight at Orman's Rest, so spirits are high, and tongues loose. The spirit of adventure is in the air, and the Aderlating outside untamed, and unexplored.

Event: In Pursuit of the Frogmen
Setting: Arnheim (Setting Summary)
Schedule: June 30th (6pm PST / 9pm EST)
Characters: Same as last time or for new recruits a new character starting at level 1 which will only be playable in the Arnheim setting. (Character creation information)

Setup:
Last night in Adermarkt, the party investigated a raid on the settlement. They encountered and defeated a band of four frogmen, then returned to Orman’s Rest to inform the locals about what they discovered. On their return, they discovered that a second raid had occurred on a different section of coast. In this raid, some children were taken, presumably across the channel and into the marshes. Alaric, the son of Ulric Orman, has gone off to investigate. The party remains at Orman’s Rest catching their breath while they decide what to do next.

We had a great time last night. The party seems to be gelling, and the setting seems to be coming together as well. Karvon posted the chat log from the session, titling it A Visit to an Old Fort.

Event: Return from Visser Hill
Setting: Arnheim
Schedule: July 14th (6pm PST / 9pm EST)

Setup:
While searching for Adermarkt’s kidnapped children, our party of adventurers met Magda, the witch of Visser Hill. A deal was struck with Magda and sealed according to the old ways, by an exchange of something personal, in this case locks of hair. Magda agreed to rescue the children kidnapped by the frogmen, and in turn requested that the party speak well of her to Ulric Orman, innkeeper and unofficial mayor of Adermarkt.

Event: Unmasking Goblin Ned
Setting: Arnheim
Schedule: August 11th (6pm PST / 9pm EST) (RSS Feed)
Server: Arnheim (108.64.228.78:5121)
Characters: Same as last time or for new recruits a new character starting at level 1 which will only be playable in the Arnheim setting. (Character creation information)

Setup:
Upon returning to Orman's Rest, our party of adventurers discovered that the man thought to be Old Ned was actually a polymorphed goblin. Old Ned's family however refuses to believe that the creature is anything other than their Old Ned, and should they take Goblin Ned back to their home, the goblin will be able to stay in Adermarkt indefinitely, protected by the Rule of Hospitality. In order to prevent this, the adventurers agreed to gather ingredients for a magic potion capable of revealing the goblin for what it is to Old Ned's family. Although they were able to acquire the potion, no one has yet been able to unmask Goblin Ned. (Thanks to Karvon for the session log)
