As much as I would absolutely LOVE for this it won't happen.  Even though I feel cheated about the way DA2 ended I've known that the next DA was going to be a new protag. 
If I wanted anything for Hawke it be something to do with Cory or to see them continuing on with the war that's starting between the mages n templers tbh.  The fact that the war is going to be implemented in another DA series does bum me, Hawke should be part of that.
Tech the Warden got more story/game time then Hawke did but that's how it's got to be.  Yes I'm bummed  but I also know that Hawke won't be the protag in the next DA.  So I'm trying to talk myself into rooting for the next protag and hopping their just as great as Hawke was.

I hope he is! But after DA3 I will hope that guy is around for DA4 so I guess I just want what I know instead of something new!

Him/Her being the protagonist? no.

give me a character who is more of a blank slate.

He was most spineless and confused MC that i have ever played in 25+ of RPG gaming(same applies for almost all of his brats errr..companions).Only regret was that DA II didn't have sort of Suicide Mission like ME2, so i can officially dispense all of them.

Some people maybe like that type of personality, but i don't , let's hope that we won't see someone like that in gaming again.

An appearance or two (or three) in DA3 by Hawke — and the Warden — wouldn't bother me one bit, but I'd like there to be a new main character and all of the associated good stuff that goes along with it.

Exactly.  The entire unreliable narrator aspect of it proved that Hawkes own contribution to events was overblown, Cassandra's assumption that Hawke was an important player was wrong.

Just to add my own point, I really dislike the Hawke character just as a personal taste.  S/he has all of the limitations of a forced character like Shepherd and none of Shepherd's redeeming strength of character or charm.

The DA:O snobbery is strong in this forum. That aside, I think Hawke is an exceptionally good main character and I hope that the next one also has their name pre-chosen, too, because DA:O's overuse of "Warden" and "Hero of Ferelden" bordered on the comical.
