Is insanity like mass effect 2 where it is easier to go rough on an entirely new (unimported) play through? Or is it easier to beat with a top level character? (I heard its actually harder that Way since they level the enemies to your level...)
Anyone have any idea?

It's much easier if you do a NG+ or even if you're just importing a level 30 character

Easier when you do an NG+ like the poster above said. You keep all your weapons and all your mods, as well as all your armour. Further, if you play NG+, you can get weapons boosted up to rank X, while you can only get them to Rank V if you start a new character or import one from ME 2.

The only upgrades you don't have from the start with an NG+ are what you get from the Shadobroker Intel terminal, however, if you think about it, you don't have them even when you start a new game.

Yes, on NG+ the mobs scale to your level, but that just brings them on par with you, but this time you have most of your upgrades, while in ME 2 you started with no upgrades.

I'm going through as a lvl 1 right now. The beginning maybe be a tad harder or just take a little more time to kill everyone, but it gets easier and easier.

Imo the only difference between Hardcore and Insanity is grenade spam. That's the enemy's answer to everything. And they are excellent grenade tossers.

I wish there was a way to grab the grenades and throw them back. You certanily have enough time to do it.

Edit:  That is of course if you don't play as an Adept.  They'll just dominate reguardless.  Especially if you pair up with Liara, it's game over.
