anyone else pissed you do not get the option to persuade Riordan to sleep with Morrigan?
I mean he's there, he's a Grey Warden, AND he doesn't know shes phycho.
Seems like a viable choice "Hey Riordan, how about a hot night of passion with the hottie over there before the big battle?"
... some of the chices in this game anger me...

But most of my solutions would involve everybody being reasonable and sane and that's no fun.
I would like a happy ending and it's very frustrating to know no matter what I do, I can't get it.
Have to say the game's hit me pretty hard and made me do a lot of thinking and plotting. So even though it's hitting discordant notes, it's hitting strong ones. There are things I wouldn't have thought if this game wasn't the way it is, and that's cool.

Your character and Alistair have only been Grey Wardens briefly, Flemeth probably knew this and also knew that you could easily be persuaded when news of what happens to the Warden comes to your ears.
Riordan is close to his calling, that's why he's not viable. Too tainted.

Yes, and romeo could have run away with juliet, Gilgamesh could have brought enkidu back to life, Darth vadar could have just cut the emperor and half and survived, Tristan could have lived happily ever after with Isolde, and sean connery didn't have to die in dragonheart.
Damn you story writers!!!!
But I point out that in each of those stories.. there is only 1 ending. If you are going to allow multiple endings, why not make one of them a true happy ending. Who does it hurt by doing that? Those that need the dark endings get their way, and those of us that want the happy ending despite the gloomy setting can have it their way. Why have multiple endings if you aren't going to give people what they want.... I'd prefer just 1 then. But this has been argued like crazy and both sides refuse to budge on their opinions.

Alistair says he's been a Grey Warden for six months. I believe he says this when you ask him about the side effects of being a warden.
Of course you could break this at anytime and wait quite awhile to ask him this!

Alistair: But what about us?
PC: We'll always have Denerim. We didn't have it before...we'd...we'd lost it until you came to Redcliffe. We got it back last night.
Alistair: When I said I would never leave you...
PC: And you never will. But I've got a job to do, too. Where I'm going, you can't follow. What I've got to do, you can't be any part of. Alistair, I'm no good at being noble, but it doesn't take much to see that the problems of three little people don't amount to a hill of nugs in this crazy world. Someday you'll understand that. Here's looking at you, kid.

I thought so as well. My happy ending was sparing Loghain, letting him kill the Archdemon and get Alistair and Anora to marry. Loghain gets to redeem himself, Fereldan gets a great King and Queen, no deal with the devil is made, and I get to live to see the end.
From multiple playthroughs, this felt like the closest to a true good ending I could find.

The only time you get a 'sad' ending is if you romanced Morrigan, and DG has said her story is far from finished, so I can't help but wonder if it's less 'sad' and more 'delayed.'

I placed Anora on the throne, kicked Alistair out of the country, had Loghian spend the night with Morrigan, and then ran around Thedas with a sexy Orlesian bard and my elven assassin boy-toy.
If you're a rogue yourself then the three of you can form a guild to rival the Crows!

You've just spent monhts gathering thousands of dwarves, elves and humans to fight the Blight. Surely some of them are viable canditates for becoming Grey Wardens?

I'm really happy with the way Bioware did it. Heart renching sacrifice makes for a far more memorable and meaningful ending. At least they didn't go to the extreme that Phantasy Star 2 and Final Fantasy Tactics did.
You beat the game, congratulations everyone dies!
This game did handle the sacrifice very well and made for the best ending imo
