I've never liked them, even in ME 1. Boning is for shore leave, not the ship. But if you're going to do them, do them well, and not throw in the Bethesda Bikini thing because you're afraid of a gaggle of psychotic right wingers. By the way, is there really only ONE lousy bra manufacturer in the entire galaxy?

I read the title wrong, I thought it was about how the turned down the language. I was against that, but I really do not need nudity from a video game romance scene.

I'm not really so sexually repressed in reality, but yea, step them up a notch. Make the chemistry REALLY flow. Hell, the ME1 scenes were more effective at displaying that strong passion between Shepard and his/her partner.

I think Heavy Rain did a good job at the level of...bare skin and affection we should expect.

(Did not see Liara scene yet lol)

It's funny to me that all of the contrary arguments always boil down to, "You must be immature and young." Personally, I just find the use of full lingerie jarring because it's not believable at all; using clever camera angles prevents a scene from being unnecessarily or inappropriately explicit, but having the characters clothed removes the illusion that I'm actually watching a passionate love scene. I also have quite an issue with the double-standard between sex and violence, but that's such a far-reaching societal issue that it feels pointless to even argue about.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and maybe sound like a crazy person.

Is it weird of me to want these scenes to be playable? I don't even mean in some kind of weird hentai game way, I just mean.......it's weird to me that I can choose what limb I want to eviscerate or in what order I want to execute my enemies, but control is wrenched from me the second anyone starts making out.

As much as I adore him and he's my favourite Mass Effect LI, I'm okay with not seeing a naked p0rn Garrus. Yikes.

It annoys me that anyone who enjoys sex or likewise is labeled "Peverted" or "disgusting".

Sex, passion and love are as natural as the human urge to kill. And yet we revel in our ability to kill, and supress anyone who tries to express sexuality.

Good topic! I have to wade in and say that so far, I haven't been disappointed with the romance scenes. However, Jack, Miranda, Thane etc - could do with more of a spruce. I'm not talking about anything X-Rated, but more passion please. Asside from that, I didn't have a prob with the Ashley scene.

If I had not seen the Ashley romance scene from ME1 then I don't think that I would have a problem with the ME3 romance scence. Up till the ME1 scene, I had not expected any nudity. I did not expect anything beyond a fade to black. But then the scene started and she crawled to shepard with a brief view of her butt and that was it. I thought that was sufficient enough to say that "Yeah, we are making a game. It is art. It is like a movie, and is no longer going to be treated in the realm of all video games should be treated as kid's games when it comes to sex. If gory graphic violence is okay, then a tiny glimpse of a woman's behind should go unapposed."

So I expected Bioware to hold up this train of thought for ME3 (I did not romance anyone in ME2) and instead I see that they bowed to pressure from the media and I am treated with the Katherine Heigl experience. What do I mean by that? Well, in every movie that she does where there is a sex scene (Knocked up for instance) she always has her bra on. Who the hell has sex with their bra on? Nobody. The scene becomes unbelieveable and I am reminded that she is just an actress ashamed of her body, not the character she is portraying in the movie. If you don't want to show anything, but you know the movie calls for it, DONT TAKE THE PART. We will get somebody else in there with a pair of ovaries.

So the same thing happened to the ME3 romance with Ashley, bra and panties, and I was reminded that this is now once again a kids game and we can't show nudity. I am not asking for full on penetration, but just a brief glimpse to show that Bioware is being mature about this and are not ashamed. Whenever I snipe somebody in the head, you don't replace that with the helmet just flying off and the guy getting knocked unconscious do you? All I ask is that you show the same amount of realism for love as you do for war.

Oh no, I may have started the "HOLD THE LINE, GET LOVE SCENES CHANGED with DLC" movement. Bioware is going to have their hands full.

Someone will figure out how to make body mods like they did for DA:O . so.. you should be happen then.

Well.... if the game would have been developed for the german market and audience you would have in every shower and sex scene boobs (assumed there is a female) ;). To see boobs in tv ads or shows is quite normal here. Wish the americans wouldn´t be so prude so there could be boobs for everyone :-/.

I liked Tali's love scene, or lack there of. I really don't need to see them getting it on, and god are some of the other love scene just terrible awkward.

Just make each of the sex scenes interactive in the slightest, and stemming from individual character traits.

For example, Garrus:
Wants to please, but he's a bit clumsy. Do you suffer through it and maybe hurt his feelings, but make it a learning experience for next time -- or just fake an orgasm and let him think he did a swell job? Mirrors the bottle-shooting scene on top of the Citadel.

And frankly, yeah, I am getting a little tired of all these soft-core camera angles.  You're already locked into the M rating with all the gory decapitations and whatnot -- is a goddamn nipple that existentially frightening?

Liara's character model doesn't even HAVE nipples.

This is the gaming world. Show more than a side boob and news networks will launch campaigns to destroy you. Sadly, our modern media finds mindless violence acceptable, but cannot stand the idea of two people engaging in what is an act of nature.

The world of Hypocrisy. Human priorities are mad.

Uh, God of War and The Witcher series have a ton of nudity and sex and don't get any flak for it.  Hell, GoW has a sex minigame.

In many ways I do agree with the overall premise of the OP.  If you are going to bother having sex scenes then at least take the time to make nude models like they did with Liara.  You can use angles to not truly show anything but the sex in underwear thing does look stupid.

Also, a note to the folks at BW: stop making body skins with birthmarks on them.  Yes, yes, going for realism, I get it.  Problem is you use the same skin for everyone of the same sex and it looks utterly bizarre that everyone has matching birthmarks.

Anyone else tired of horny teens complaining that they can't see bewbs in their games?

First of all, I am not a teen. I can have sex just like anybody else in my apartment.

Second, I am not complaining that I can't see boobs. What I am complaining about is how Bioware raised the bar and took it seriously in the first game, but then bowed to pressure from the media and decided to put bra and panties on everybody. If you do that, then the scene is no longer believable because no woman has sex with her bra and panties on.

All I am asking is that they show the same amount of realism for love as they do for war. Honestly did you even read my post? Or did you just assume what it said and posted the first thing that came to mind?

So if they heavily censored the violence and people complained it was toned down for kids, would you say, "No, it's a game, not a snuff film?" People aren't looking for personal material, they're asking for the scene to have at least a little goddamned impact and sense like the ME1 scenes.
