To those who can't authorize DLCs, try this:
My Documents->BioWare->Dragon Age->Settings->AddInns.xml
Make a backup of it, then open the original file with notepad and search for RequiresAuthorization="1", change all "1" to "0".

This won't help you with login issues, but you should be able to play with your installed DLCs.

I get this message, but I have no problems with my DLC. Even "The Edge" has appeared in my Inventory.



I still cannot upload my character to my profile, though,

I agree.  They've implemented something that is clearly beyond their abilities to manage and it detracts from the game.

Right now, until they fix it, I can't play the game.

If they don't fix it, I can guarantee three things:

1. DA will not get played again - why bother when you can get xx% into it and loose your critical items!
2. I will never buy an EA game again.
3. I will never buy a game with any form of activated in-game content.

But let's see, I have raised an EA support ticket...

That didn't help in my case, Starfang is still missing when I load

Do you use a save where you last had Starfang? Or did you load up a game saved after you found about missing equipment? If the first one, I have no more ideas, except for downloading item creator mod and making identical item (it should be possible, no?).

Ah, loading a slightly older save has fixed it.  Only a few hours lost, so not so bad!

Had this problem too, along with an inability to sign in at all. Not that it really matters, anyway. The only thing that gets uploaded are my achievements. Not even once have my newer characters been uploaded or my older characters (the ones I created in the Character Creator) been updated.

It's just another thing that isn't working. I truly hope that none of you are raging or upset because of this. It should be a staple by now.

Doesn't work. It just removes the "Unauthorized" tag - it doesn't actually activate the DLCs.

Fiddled a lot with this back when we were trying to make all the promos work.

The same problem here.

Why Bioware/EA cant do 1 time DLC authorization? And simply after it play without internet connection needed... I hang dogs on this great idea to IF YOU WANT PLAY OFFICAL DLC LOG IN argh...

Hmm... what if DLC is already active? Shouldn't it prevent game for future checking, and possible disabling, said DLCs?

Having same problems, except the game will randomly decide that several keys on my keyboard are foreign, so they won't work in the game. The Esc. key is one of them. Space bar is another. Plus I am getting the timed out messages too.  This just started last night, and I'm about 40-50 hours into the game.

Tried that with the band of fire, one of the promo items I do not have, and while it was now listed as enabled DLC I didn't get the actual ring...

Yeah I have the same thing with my game too, nothing gets updated.

It's an annoying message but as long as it doesn't affect me like it seems to some others (losing DLC gear) then I can deal with it.

I got this error, shrugged and went on... Then next time I loaded up DAO, the Shale and Warden's Keep quests were reset to new.



This bites... but I'm going to wait patiently for a fix.

I turned off auto uploads of screenshots, and it stopped popping up for now. (crossing fingers)

I get this message the past few days. My online profile shows as updated today but it lies - no screenshots, no character information, nothing gets updated to the community site for more than a week now, probably closer to 2 weeks.

Same thing here (though closer to three weeks in my case) but after trying a couple of times I managed to manually upload a screenshot (the file counter ingame increased) without getting the timeout message but nothing shows on the profile page. Looks like it did get uploaded but the data just isn't displayed on the site...

Don't know if it was a coincidence. But the timeout issue disappeared for me after adding "daupdater.exe" to Windows Firewall exceptions. (It wasnt added automatically like most of the other DA:O exe files).



I also changed the start method of the "Dragon Age: Origins - Content Updater" service to manual and then started it. This however doesnt always work. Sometimes i have to start Dragon Age, tab out and start Task Manager and go to services and manually start the Content Updater service.



Im using Windows 7 64bit btw.

I'll chime in..it started doing this awhile back and never stopped..my char no longer updates and stuff...quite annoying..

I logged in ingame to grab the profille and stuff and got that message then logged out. Since I've installed windows 7 (still got original os on another partition) so I copied over the settings and addins to the other partition. I saw that Warden's Keep and The Stone Prisoner were unautherized when I tried again. So I ran the code program to get the key into the registry, then regged and started the daoupdater.service, reran game configuration clicked create icons, add firewall exception etc. Started game and logged in again and the two dlc did not complain about being unautherized, logged out and started playing.
