I can see it on shadows, smoke, the sky in dark areas, and walls.  It didn't look like this when I played the PS3 demo, but it's really noticable in the 360 version of the game.  What I'm talking about is the wavy lines you see in the background of dark areas.  If you turn the brightness up in game it becomes even more noticable, but the only way I can play this is with the brightness turned up because of how dark the game looks.

Bump. The compression is still there in the backgrounds on the 360 version. It's most noticeable when turning the brightness up past 0.

I've never noticed this myself I usually keep the brightness so I can barely see the image usually provided. If you really have a problem with this you should contact EA directly since this is mainly a Peer to Peer message board and is rarely looked at by members of Bioware and EA or at least not that I have noticed. EA will address this problem through the proper channels to where it needs to go.

One thing you could try doing if you haven't done so already and if you can ... is install both discs to your HDD it seems to clear up a lot of problems for any game especially graphical glitches and misinterpreted disc data.(impossible to complete quests due to an NPC not loading and other things like that) It also cuts down on heat output and increases the life of your console.

Is this something that might be fixed in a future patch?

After doing some more research I think the problem is called color banding. Can you fix it please.
