I don't know if I'm the first to notice this, but I found nothing on the forum so far. The following incident really leaves me puzzled:

I took my time to suck it all in and yesterday night I finally beat the game for the first time. EMS was 4,000 and something, LI was Ashley and I chose the destroy ending including the 'breathing' scene.
As I am an iPad owner I had the Datapad App from the start. The mails you get throughout the game from your crew were a nice addition to the experience. Last one I got before priority mission earth was from EDI after discussing her origins at the Cerberus base. nothing after that. BUT today, almost 18 hours later I got a message from Ashley!? Being from Austria I got it in German but it says

"Hey Skipper! Today they may let me through to you. Hold on!"

Is this the first glimpse of light at the end of the tunnel? What do you say? This seems rather intentional to me, implying that Shepard survived, is under medical care and Ashley is obviously able to visit him.

I've heard someone else mention this. It's very interesting for sure. Gives a glimmer of hope as well.

It's intriguing, but I wonder if EA/Bioware would put such relevant info on a platform that only a fraction (albeit a large fraction) of the fan base could access.

Ashley wants to come and see you on Earth.

Ashley has crash landed on a random planet that isn't earth and has no way of returning home.

They can't both be true.

...I don't have the app, but that sounds like something she would have sent at the start of the game while Shepard was in lock-down. Does anyone else have app with a different love interest messaging them?

What...? That really wouldn't make sense. As others just said, Ashley was with the rest of the crew when they left Sol and crashed on some distant planet and Shepard was on Earth without any way for Ashley to get back due to the relays being destroyed. Seriously, I wish Bioware would just admit they've f***ed up.

Ive heard about this a couple times. It certainly sounds as though a wounded shep is in a hospital or something (and the crew escaped jurrasic park).

Im assuming its a PR'ish thing they did to make the ending sound more optimistic (and possibly to get more sales on the app). Maybe try to kill some of the flames in the community.

Nah. With all the other bugs that have been unearthed in this game, I'm more than willing to believe that it was a missed thing (or bugged thing) that was actually supposed to be sent at the start of the game.

I've also heard some people claim that it only gets sent when you start a new game, but since I don't have the thing I'm not capable of commenting on that.

It's safe to say that if Bioware actually had something and pulled a world-class hoax on everybody that they would have said something by now. People getting refunds on Amazon, Origin giving some people refunds on a case by case basis too, and reviews and news are picking up on the story every new news cycle.

Bioware's silence simply speaks to ineptitude of those in charge. They seem to be people who would rather hold meetings and patronize their fans and customer base than deal with them, at least judging from their efforts so far in handling this little fracas.

Can still be a bug and that message could very well be from the beginning, but if so the message doesn't make sense there as Shepard and Ashley are both surprised to run into each other. Plus Ashley doesn't trust you in the beginning...

I don't think they want to promise anything that they cannot guarantee to deliver considering the seriousness of the situation.
