Oh, wow,  I'm sorry your family wouldn't accept that if that's what you wanted.  That seems short-sighted and unfair.  I hope they become more supportive.

@ LadyofRivendell - my family is crazy as hell, mostly in a good way.

Yeah...my poor therapist. 

But I've been pondering about other characters (non-alien as alien by default get thrown out):

- Jacob: Black. Automatic quiet and awkward time.
- James: A hispanic man with rather large tattoos...another quiet and awkward moment.
- Kasumi: Death stares from sisters...asian girl...yeah. I'm starting to see a pattern here.
- Zaeed: Creepy. And I wouldn't want to...
-Joker: Only if non-romantic would this be feasible. Though I'd never hear the end of how much he looks like a hobo. 

Ashley still bet. And only if pre-ME3. Can't be prettier then the girls already living there...

Dude, this one requires some explanation, but MORDIN.
My dad (IRL) is the general manager of a theater company that performs Gilbert & Sullivan shows every summer, and whenever he's walking by the TV and hears Mordin singing, he stops and says 'your taste for video games...I approve!'

But actually? Wrex, Garrus, Jack, Joker... OMG. My mom would have a blast drinking with all of them.

Liara, Garrus and Tali tbh. They'd get along best with the folks. We'll wait to bring Mordin, Legion, Wrex, and Javik for another time....They could only handle so many lizard men at once

Tali. She'd fit right in. If we're just talking parents, my mother would welcome her with open arms. For family in general, I suspect the only disappointment would be that my relatives would be unable to cook for her, and she'd not be able to enjoy any of the delicious human food. Of course, given that this is fantasy anyway, I'm sure they'd go out of their way to prepare some variety of dextro-friendly tastiness for her.

Hmm.

If I were introducing them as just a friend, I'd go with Joker for my dad's family and maybe Dr. Chakwas for my mom's. My dad's side would have a BLAST with Joker, and his sense of humor would fit right in. I'd have to play it safe with my mom, though, so no aliens and no human males that might make her jump to conclusions, or I'd never hear the end of it. And Ash and I were never exactly friends....

If it were as a love interest... might as well just go with Garrus for both sides. My dad's family would be like, "Weird, but whatever," and my mom would freak out no matter who I brought, so I might as well go with an extreme.

My mom would totally approve since she's a nut for discussing philosophy and art. My dad on the other hand...I guess he'd be muttering "alien" and shaking his head. And after having both an intellectual discussion and a "what are you snooping around my daughter for?" talk he'd be "Ah your'e ok." My brother would be a tad disappointed though since he's more down to earth and likes to joke around.

If it was a friend hmmm...Garrus or Mordin. Garrus would be wisecracking jokes and get along well with my brother and my mom might drive my dad insane though.
Mordin however would get along excellently with my dad since he's also interested in chemics, physics and music, not to mention my dad can actually be like a "hamster on coffee" whenever he's involved in som kind of project, so win-win I guess.

Matriarch Aethyta! Yes, most definitely. Not as an LI though, but more as an older mentor sort of thing. I think Asari are human-looking enough that my parents wouldn't mind.

I'd love to bring Garrus home as either an LI or BFF, but then the folks would be all "ZOMG ALIEN KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!"

Garrus. It'd be weird at first, but my parents aren't the type who judge people's preferences. If I wanted to date an alien, and that alien was treating me well, they would have no problem. The same goes for most of my family, in fact, one of my aunts actually thinks Garrus is cute.
As a friend, the most interesting would be introducing Legion. They'd be all "a robot? Are you sure? Is it even alive?". Yes, mom. This unit has a soul, you know.

Yyyyyeeeeeaaaaahhhh..... I *almost* said I'd bring Kaiden over as a friend to meet my mom, since he's probably the character she'd find the most socially acceptable, but I really wouldn't want this kind of conversation, and bringing him around would make it unavoidable. It would get brought up in every conversation I would have for the next YEAR after introducing him.
