I agree the side missions by eavesdropping was woeful but you have to remember what sticks out of everyones mind is that horrible ending.
but I agree the side missions are shocking and have no relevance to the actual game apart from adding numbers.

The side quests were no issue to me and I actually enjoyed them.
But yes, I miss being able to actually explore planets. Not scan them. I want a return to Mako style planet exploration. Exotic worlds to land on and discover, not just immediately head to a very limited area of the surface.

Remember that the standard Bio method of sidequest delivery is pretty awful too. Look for a named character and see what he or she needs your PC to do. If it's a choice between this and eavesdropping I'll take the eavesdropping.
