Because it isn't just the BSN.

It's not. You have no conclusive proof that it is the majority of fans other than polls which can be bombed, as well as reviews and negative discussions. Anyone of you can make an account of these sites and join in on the discussion. You are in denial. Lol.

But you also don´t have proof that a majority of the fans liked the ending

Just like how people can't make spam accounts to incessantly praise the thing too.

You're paranoid. I know of a few doctors for that...

Here's some evidence that you're in the minority:

~50% of the players that played ME2 actually finished it.

50%. That means that, in order to be a majority at all, you have to provide evidence that ME3 has a significantly higher completion rate than ME2 and that the vast, vast majority of those players actually hated the ending.

The game hasnt been out long enough to validate using a statistic like this at least yet

Untrue. A majority is still more than half, and a minority is still less than half by definition. Of those who played ME3, a percentage of those players have finished the game. To claim that a majority of the players hated the ending means that you make the following two claims:

#1. A majority of players who played ME3 have completed ME3
#2. Enough of the subset of players who completed ME3 AND hated the ending comprise a majority of all players who have played ME3

There's plenty of evidence that most players don't complete games. The burden of proof is on you to show that not only do many more players than usual complete ME3, but also that they agree with you.

Uh... first game I've ever seen hit the news where some people are getting full refunds on an open box game. Yea Amazon...

I really should be trying to finish ME3 myself, but I can't tear myself away from this ridiculousness.

You might want to rethink that or go forth with lowered expectations.

I've watched the ending on Youtube already. All this bulls*** on the forums got me curious. I had to see if it was that bad before actually beating the game. I didn't rage, I just kind of scratched my head and was like, "That's not how I would've ended it." I'm still enjoying the game a great deal, but this drama is even more gripping atm.

Nobody's saying they DID, my god. All we're saying is that a majority of fans did not hate the ending. How... how is this even questionable?

It will be interesting to see the sales numbers over the next ten weeks.

Pointless to look at the sales numbers because they'll drop regardless since nearly 2 million were sold, so before you use that as any type of proof. Show us the number of Mass Effect 3 returns (not trade-ins.) Trade-ins are inconclusive since a lot of people trade in games after they beat the game whether they like it or not.

People put far too much stock on 'majority/minority' balance with this kind of thing. Having more people on one side doesn't make the other inherently wrong.

Considering the nature of what people're wanting here, I can't even see why one side claiming 'the majority' is even relevant, beyond the usual primitive logic of "if more people think the same way I do, that means I'm correct".

Far from paranoid, the ones that liked the ending and the trilogy are sensible. Yes, we could do that, but why? We don't have the "drive" to where as the fans who hated it are driven by hate to spam and bomb polls, etc. Durp.

Im not sure why the burden of proof is on me since i think its a vocal minority and this isnt a court of law or what side you are actually taking here to be honest. You are never going to have a full game completion and at this point the only people that should be counted at all should be the people who have finished. The game has only been out 2 weeks and there are plenty of people who havent finished that will is all im saying

Unless people start providing evidence that proves the contrary, i've seen the majority of the people who spoke about the ending have a negative experiance with it, so be it then, i'm sure some like it in some way , though in possibly can't comprehend how, but right now, i'd say that the majority of the people who played the game and finished it were negative about the ending.

Am I the only person that remembers the out cry from the first Mass Effect when there were people complaining it was just a dumbed down RPG there were lots of troll threads about it

I remember that as well. then again, I tend not to pay much attention to marketing campaigns because I feel that I should just take solace in the Story of a game, and not debate on whether something is objectively bad. most things in life are subjective, so I tend to form my own opinions.

It's NOT relevant, that's the tragedy of it all.

But as long as people keep claiming things that are patently untrue, we can't even begin to discuss things that are debatably true or not.

Where is your proof that all the reviewers on metacritic and amazon are the same people posting here?

If that is the case, why didn't it also happen with Mass Effect 2? There was a vocal minority that did not like the gameplay changes or the direction of the story in that game compared to Mass Effect 1, yet most of the feedback on that game was positive. If, as you contend, it is only a small minority that hates ME3's ending, how is it that they are dominating discussion of the game and just about every review site? Why did that not happen with Mass Effect 2?

I'll tell you why: Because the majority of fans liked Mass Effect 2, while the majority of fans do not like the ending of Mass Effect 3.

Like I posted ealier, just those 60,000 that voted in that poll is a potential loss in future sales of $3.6 million. Not a small number. That is what will get a company's attention. How many more won't be buying future titles? Is EA willing to risk finding out the hard way?

Are you kidding me? The sales numbers will be scrutinized by everyone. Have you seen the chart of DA1 and DA2 sales over the ten weeks after release date? No bueno.

I bet EA has the latest sales numbers right now and they are being used to help make the decision what to do about this mess.

Lots of anecdotal evidence of trade-ins and returns too. I have no idea how many though.

I ordered from GameStop.  Wish I had ordered through Amazon now.  As it is, there is no replayability for me so I would like to return it.  Oh well.  I really did enjoy the game immensely up until .......

Like I said, this whole proof nonsense is pointless. You can't provide viable proof and neither can I, the numbers, pulls, reviews, etc are flawed plain and simple
