Broken radio link to the Normandy - speak to squadmate love interest.
Brief line explaining that Joker picked them up once the Beam shut off (as now the Battle of Westminster is over, strategically - the fight's on the Citadel).
Heartbreaking conversation with Squadmate-LI. Paragon or Renegade ("have the blue babies", "move on, forget about me"), etc.
As the Crucible docks (see it with Normandy in shot also), Shepard tells them to leave, nothing more they can do. Go to the relay and try and live, whatever happens.
Order Joker to go, Paragon or Renegade style. Maybe argument…
Interrupted by Hackett: "Commander…? Shepard, Commander? I'm sorry…. Nothing's happening"
All this with the camera focused on Shepard, talking while looking at their bloody arm and side. Other voices radio only.
(If the LI is not aboard, the conversation could just be with Joker.)
Is this enough closure with the LI? Would this reluctantly satisfy those who want to be reunited with the LI? Would it be acceptable, at all? And is it enough context to explain Joker outrunning the wave later on?
Note, this is not a demand, or a suggestion, or what-have-you, on how to change/improve the ending. It's just an idea I'd like to discuss, if anyone's willing. :happy:
