I'd give it a month max. Let's be honest, it's a game, most will go play something else within a month and that will be that. Journalists will lose interest by next week.

All Bioware has to do is ignore it and it will go away. Doesn't mean they won't lose customers, but the furor will have died down.

a few weeks I've been here on the board on and off since Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic and a lot of complainers on this board don't have a long memory. Every game release since Star Wars has seen backlash, I remember people complaining about how they felt Kotor was smaller than the f2 Baldur's Gate's games, people complained about hating Jade Empire because the combat was way different. Every game release sees it's share of whiners.

Propably, but the decreased sales of the game and future content (the sales will have been anticipated before development began) can result in significant financial losses.

The question is: will BioWare loose more money by ignoring the matter, or by actually changing the ending (which would restore a portion of trust and regain customers...also for already anticipated sales of future DLCs)

Are you sure about that? It's been a year and most people are still unhappy with DA2.

Agreed. And if anything, the pressure's going to keep up on this one because most people like most of the game - they just can't stand the ending. It's not like DA2, where people's beefs with it were so pervasive it'd need to be completely rebuilt from the ground up before it even approached meeting the criticisms.

The ending of the game as it stands may seriously alter perception to such an extent that it may well affect future sales of both the game itself and future DLC. Do BioWare and (to a greater extent) EA really want that? No, this is not going to go away if it hits where it hurts.

Could be weeks until things become localised to the boards again. Then it could be years.

Hmm it's been a long time since I've heard anything this irresponsible. "Just ignore what you stirred up, it'll go away on it's own". Yeah if every person on Earth thought like that, the human race would probably not even be around any more by now.

Maybe they'll start talking to you guys like adults when your "movement" stops acting like children.

Not all of you but some of you bash and personally attack people if they support Bioware or like the ending.  They have the right to express their opinion on these boards just as much as any of you.

If somone posts a positive comment about the endings they are immeaditely branded "Bio-drones" and "trolls"

Act like adults and you will be treated as such.

People need to get past the fact games are not just games, they are products like anything else. When you involve your fans to the point in which BW has, there is a certain amount of respect you owe them and vice versa.

Maybe a few weeks or months. Eventually it'll slow down like it happened with DA2 hate. There will always be people who will rant and complain so this never gonna stop.

I've preordered every Bioware title since the first Mass Effect game. (Excepting TOR, which I would have if my computer could actually run it.) If they won't fix this mess then I won't be preordering any games anymore. I want an ending worthy of the greatness that is Mass Effect. If I don't get it, then I no longer trust Bioware to ship me a complete game when I order it.

It won't blow over for me.

Maybe for casual fans, but not for BioWare fans that see every game they make as part of a unique "BioWare Genre", one building off another.

For me as a primarily BG/NWN/DA fan I'm very interested to see how BioWare addresses the issue because it will color how I see Dragon Age developing in the future.  The DA devs have already said their monitoring the fan reacton to the ME3 endings.

It goes way beyond temporary angst.

People still talk about how bad EP 1 of Starwars is.... that was 1999. The ending of this game is far worse than even George Lucas is capable of... Sure people wont be trying to demand the endings, but people will be talking crap about this game for years...

It depends on how Bioware handles it.

If they announce plans to work on DLC that provides a more satisfying conclusion, it will blow over. If they ignore it or announce that the endings will not change, the anger will eventually subside and people will move on to other games, but ME3 DLC sales will take a hit, as will future Bioware titles. Bioware's reputation is at stake right now.

Speaking of Star Wars prequels, did you enjoy Jake Lloyd's cameo in ME3?

Unless you buy into the rather far fetched "indoctrination" theory there is nothing possitive to say about the endings. They fail on every possible level.

Alright so because you and some other people don't like the ending that means others can't as well?

It will not really blow over. Maybe there will be fewer posts ... but there will also be fewer sales. And the next Bioware product will have fewer preorders. I do not think people here forget easily ... they just stop posting, stop buying, stop caring.

Its been a year and people still talk regularly about DA2, and DA2 was much more evenly split with those who where dissatisfied and those who where not. ME3 seems to have a far more people unhappy.

It won't. I'm not touching DA3 (or any other BW release) until its been torn apart, reviewed forward and backward, and beaten by a large majority of fans here. Then, if its good, I might wait til I can get it pre-owned someplace. I preordered ME3 CE, paid $85 for it, and I'll never make that mistake again.

I was hugely disappointed in DA2, and it wasn't handled well at all by BW, in my opinion. I didn't think Mass Effect would be affected by this, and LOVED the game, til the end. Then I logged on here and realized it wasn't just me, lol.
