The dog's approval has been at 100 from the beginning and nothing I've done has made him any less loyal. Makes the bones I've come across a bit redundant. Anyone managed to upset the dog?
How to upset a dog?

It isn't possible. He imprints on you and he's with you til the end. Through and through.

I've thought about that too. Makes you wonder why the bones are there at all, maybe for roleplay purposes?

I give the bones to Oghren. Something tells me he is not very picky when it comes to food, or hygene, or anything.

Dogs are incredibly loyal and loving to their masters, that's just how their brains are hardwired. It takes a lot of cruel abuse to erode that bond and even then you will probably end up with a fearful, yet loyal Dog.

Indeed, most normal dogs today are very loyal by nature. Combine that with magics to make the dog nearly as smart as most peasants combined with the loyal nature of a dog, but also the instincts of a wardog and you have a dog that is forever loyal.
Kinda wish I had a dog like that

Yeah, I've given the bones to all my other characters. I thought they would reject them like they do for some of the gifts. But everyone seems happy to get a half chewed veal bone.

I kept hoping there'd be a cat we could be nice to.

'Tis amusing to give them to Morrigan, I think.

They just needed an animation of Dog enjoying (or burying) his bone. I don't need a rep gain, but it would have been nice to see Dog's pleasure.

Bones are handy for Sten if your playing a "Good" character in the +1 - +50 range, providing you want to keep him around.
Playing as another race other than human on one occasion I was almost certain the dog only started at + - 0 neutral but it seems that was a bug as I have not been able to replicate it.

I wish I could give the bones to Morrigan and then have a cut scene:
Morrigan: EWWWWW. Hey you, mangy mongrel, here.
I would keep playing that over and over.

Just a thought... do they have any bearing on whether / when you get the option to tell him to try and find something? I'm still in first game so I wouldn't notice anything.

Any of your other companions, including Wynne, Lielenna and Morrigan will gleefully accept those bones
I find that really funny, actually. If you time it right, you could, for example give Lielenna a lamb bone and raise her approval with you from "adore" to "Love"... which means that she now loves you because you gave her a dog treat. lol

I'm not sure. On one hand, he loves dead cats. On the other hand, he might be less than thrilled at them not staying that way.Kitty Fae wrote...

I loved this part of the game. Of course the dog is always at 100%. He's your dog, and as any dog lover knows they love you back pretty much unconditionally. That's what makes dogs so great.

By the power of Castle Greyskull! ... I mean.. Grey Warden...
He-Man had that cool tiger, as did skeletor who had a cooler one, I agree.

I heard that if you give him bones he will find cool stuff for you when you ask.

Agreed. That's one of the things Torchlight did right. Not having to run around with a mangy mutt.
