If I had to pick then it's story..but in all honesty both are important. Bad gameplay can be saved by an awesome story (to a point). On the other hand bad story and good gameplay simply result in console games.

Red Dead Redemption would like a word with your ignorance.

So would Uncharted

I wanted to know what drove people into buying ME3, is all. Polarisation was the only option for a definite cunclusion to that question.

I bought ME3 for the story, but I play it for the gameplay. For reasons many times stated I have absolutely no desire to replay the story, but multiplayer is enjoyable (when it lets me connect to the EA server, that is.)

If the gameplay is bad, I can't fully enjoy the story.
Even if the story is bad, you still can enjoy a game, when the gameplay is fun.

I prefer a mix, good gameplay and a good story. You can have that in every genre. Even Shooters have good Storys and make 100% more fun, then ME1, gameplay wise.

You need both of course but mostly I play for the story not because I massively enjoy running around shooting at things. If ME was a pure FPS rather than a RPG I wouldn't look at it twice.

Voted story, gameplay is also important, but when i buy a RPG the story comes first.

Bioware used to make the best PC games because they had a good mix of both.. hopefully consoles and MP dont ruin that going forward.

this is about as ignorant as it gets.

I find all these responses somewhat comical. No wonder the media outlets dont take gamers seriously. Instead of intelligent conversation we resort immediately to name calling or stomping on others opinions. How else could they portray us after reading forums full of these kinds of posts.

I concede the handful of excellent games people have noted in response to my 'ignorant' post and raise you 3,000 crappy titles at any gamestop. Exaggerated over the top example or not it does stand on it's own. But then again, this is 'MY' opinion too.

Have any intelligent responses to add then my all means please post. If you just going to dump on others opinions or name call then do us a favor and stay quiet.

Wow. This thread/poll got lively when I wasn't looking. Cool. I would ask all to remain civil. And I'd love to see 1K votes in the poll too :)

I think the poll results are fairly clear. Not that we don't care about gameplay at all, if it was horribly bad then people would care more I'm sure!

Story first, though it really helps if the gameplay is good and bug free...

If the gameplay was truly horrific then I would probably see it as a problem.

I can't say that I was a fan of having the run, leap and cover function on the same keyboard button... Im guessing that was a console design cecision.

Combat was good overall though and I liked most of the story telling, in some places I would have liked more conversation options or interrupts.. The story telling that really upset me was the part with the catalyst and how shepards responses got railroaded.
Ending the cerberus storyline wasn't enough I wanted to confront he reaper leader and do it in style, even if it's just a stern yelling at a m achine that gives a perplexed look..

Catalyst: Did that make you feel better Shepard?

Shepard: What will make me feel better is blowing up that pipe!!

Catalyst: Wait that's not what i meant!!!
