I can't think of any specific thing that BioWare could do that would make me dislike Dragon Age II.

This is like going up to a chef and giving them a list of ingredients that they absolutely can't use. Almost everything I dislike can be something I like given the right treatment.

This.  Most of what makes me like or dislike a feature depends on how it is implemented.

I've thought of one thing they could do that would ****** me off a bit though:  "Fine, we give in, it'll be EXACTLY LIKE ORIGINS."  But they won't, heck, they've SAID they won't.

I don't even really care if they decide to go with the framed narrative thing again.  On the one hand, it didn't add a huge amount to the game.  On the other hand, Varric was OSSUM.

I don't want DA3 to be a game where once again Mary Kirby doesn't write any of the romanceable characters, that's what.

No endless swarms of enemies popping out of the sky and ground wave after wave

Pls don't change the open option of talking with your followers (loved how I could interact with my companions in DA:O and it felt so hollow in DA2

I really love the whole Prince charming thing we had with Alistair and I really was left empty with the romance options in DA2

I really don't like having a timed healing option - if I need a healing potion I should be able to drink it like in DA:O

I really didn't enjoy the follower armor upgrade system in DA2 - it was too much work and unrealistic, to me

I really enjoy open world game play

I felt the story was extremely short and hollow (does that make it shallow? lol) in DA2 compared to DA:O

I preferred your DA:O levelling up system better than the DA2 one

The quests in DA:O, though fewer than in DA2, had much more detail and story behind them than running around for endless petty errands in the same area

Romance was hotter in DA:O

Personally, I liked the look of armor way better in Origins also

{this topic should be in Dragon Age III section, but since it doeasn't yet exist, I decided to post it here. Please move it to the appropriate section, when one is created.}

Hello Bioware. I own and have played most of your games. I loved Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights and Knights of the Old Republic games. I also enjoyed Mass Effect. I used to be a devoted fan. This changed. I'm not going to rant about anything here, but I must admit I was rather disapointed with a few of your recent games. This is why, although I enjoyed Dragon Age: Origins, I didn't buy Dragon Age II. Why? Let me just tell you that my favourite Bioware game is Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn...it should now be clear why I didn't like the second installment of the Dragon Age series.

I hear, however, that it is very likely you are beginning development of Dragon Age 3. I see that you're asking fans for feedback. I could give you a list of things I would like to see in the new game, but you probably know very well, what your long time fans would like your next game to be (challenge, tactical combat, good story and the likes). Therefore, I am going to tell you something you might not know:

I DON'T want Dragon Age III to be:

  • a game based on Frostbite 2.0 engine;
  • a first person shooter diguised as an RPG;
  • a game with action oriented, easy combat;
  • an MMO;
  • a game with multiplayer, esp co-op multiplayer;
  • a game with cliché plot
  • a rushed product;
  • a game in which you are trying to please EVERYONE;
  • a platform for campaigning for minorities (be it political, sexual or racial)
  • a game in which I have no chance to think on my own, because of excessive use of tips, waypoints, etc.

I'd like to know what others think? Do you agree with any of the above? Do you have your own DON'T WANTS?

I get the senitment, but don't entirely agree with all of it. First, I dislike it when people, the OP in this case,use WE liberally. Its a presumption that everyone inherently agrees with the proposed sentiment. Dont include me in your we (wee) :blink:.

Anyhow, there isnt anything outrageous about OUR demands except
[*] [WE don't want] a platform for campaigning for minorities (be it political, sexual or racial).

Now what does that imply? "I want it to be for' insert politcal party', straight white males". Seriously? I don't. I want it to be indicative of the society I live in and it isnt all white, straight and rosy.
It really iritates me when game designers go with the eurocentric angle, but I really enjoy it when designers paint a world that includes people that I can relate to i.e. non white. Generally a thumbs up to the rest, but I think WE are going to have to disagree with the aformentioned.

Let me throw in my what I don't want: A game that is only available on Origin

Voiced protagonist = automatic pass on DA3 for me. Keep Mass Effect's "cinematic" dialogue system confined to Mass Effect. Give me more than 3 choices, like RPGs used to.

Mutliplayer is fine so long as it adds to the game, not detracts from it.

Nothing of that which inspired Bioware to make DA2 what it was.

[*]This, so much.. I hate it when people try to do that subtly because they fear they'll be accused of racism.

- Game with a cliche plot? You know what... I don't really care. Cliches are so cliche. Really now; let's just abandon that term altogether shall we? The most powerful stories are often the simplest... I mean, you're the progeny of the Lord of Murder?? Son/daughter of a god, destined for greatness?? C'mon! Face it, on paper that sounds like a 14 year olds fan-shortstory. Yet it was obviously made much greater than the sum of its parts... perhaps the focus should be on replicating 'how' ...?

Agreed.  The main thing is to make the story fun to play.  You need to feel like you have accomplished something to.  Like it was worth while.  DA2 and ME3 both missed this.

console popamole jrpg dating sim with no toolset, bad writing, gay romances and missing features from origins. basically exactly what we all know it's going to be deep inside.

Unfortunately, like every swindler, I believe their luck will run out this time and sales will die out even quicker than before.

Okay, that may have sounded a bit too rude, but what little info there is already sounds bad. Forced 'Inquisitor' PC = makes little sense to be able to play as a dwarf or elf. Gear unique to every party member = bad idea that doesn't make any sense.

I don't want it be an Elder Scrolls game. I LOVE the Elder Scrolls series, yes, but that kind of gameplay is what drives their games. Storyline and characters, however, have always been the main drive for BioWare - if they take that away, they're pretty much doomed to fail IMO.

I really don't want a set race. Or, if there *is* a set race, I don't want it to be a human: I'd much, much rather play as a dwarf or a elf.

Ideally, I would not want a voiced protagonist. I doubt they're going to do away with it, but it's not something I really liked. If I wanted cinematics like that, I'd just watch a movie.

If they must keep the voiced protag, I want the stupid dialogue wheel to go away. I hated the little phrasing that went with it, and how Hawke said something TOTALLY different than what I intended. I want my PC to say what I want them to say.

I don't want a game that is suppose to appeal to the masses.

I don't want multiplayer. *IF* they must make a multiplayer, I'm okay if it does not subtract anything from playing the game itself. I cannot get internet to go on multiplayer, and from what I do hear about it, I don't think I would want to talk to a lot of people that use xbox live. If multplayer is going to be a pretty big part of the game, I will have to pass on getting it.

Also, if you're going to make characters bisexual, please implanted it in a where the character isn't like... going this way or that way because of the PC's gender. Seriously. All of the love interests besides Isabela and Sebastian (Isabela being bisexual no matter what, and Sebastian being straight no matter what) seemed to be "Hawkesexual" and it really bothered me. Maybe it's because I'm bisexual myself, but... yeah, I'd really like it if it was handled in a way similar to Leliana - it isn't a fact she denies nor hides, it's simply just another part of her character.

And... just in general, I don't want my romances to be shallow like they where in DA2. I've romanced all of the characters expect for Isabela (just haven't gotten around to her's quite yet), and with all of them, I felt like... well... Anders and Hawke's relationship never really expended, not anywhere like my Warden and Alistair, despite the fact the events of Origins was only about a year long, when DA2 was over a span of 10 years. I also really hated, if you romance Merrill, in Hawke 3 your codex gets updated to reflect the flak Hawke gets for having an elven lover, but you never really deal with any of it in-game. I was also sad that I never seen any of Merrill and Sandal's shenanigans - that would have been pretty cute and funny, I think.

I also don't want a bunch of stupid templars. Gotta love how you can kill a bunch of people in front of them, throwing fireballs and lightning from your fingertips and the light of the Maker through your ass, but they never make any comment on it. What the heck?
