Is anyone surprised people like the ending?
Keep in mind a lot of people like awful things. Two and A Half Men is one of the most watched shows in America. Katy Perry is one of the most listened to music acts.
Most of the people I see liking the ending, like it for very generic reasons. They don't care about how it fits with the rest of the plot, they just care that Shepard sacrificed himself for the greater good. So it's tragic, and heroic.
Bleh.
Losing faith in humanity.
True... what bioware needs to realize is that even if by some miracle the people who liked based off of taking at face value (Non-indoc theory), were the majority, they still screwed over their die hard fans.
I myself am a huge fan of ME. The universe to me was such a fascination to me... there are times i wished I lived there, even if it meant getting zombified by a reaper...
And they give an ending that not only destroys most of the lore, it destroys the universe along with it...
To me their ending would be a kin to the end of a western where during the final confrontation between a ranger and some bandit leader, a portal opens up, a geth steps out and shoots both of them in the head.
The geth then walks back through the portal, it collapses and causes the universe to implode...
Just a giant WTF moment... where did the portal come from? Why did the geth shoot both of them in the head? Why does portal closing cause the universe to implode? WTF?
