Koralis:

The game already rewards you a great deal for having high Coercion skill. There's no reason why anyone should be sweating a few measly XP over it. It's a non-issue either way.

And yet Chris Priestly is on record as saying that he feels that unless you fight, you don't deserve XP for taking "the easy way out."   If it's negligible XP, then why not award the same amount either way to keep your customers happy?

The Coercion skill already gives you significant monetary and XP advantages. I am unsure why any customer would be unhappy missing some small fight XP with unremarkable rewards.

Christ Pristley is not a developer, he's Bioware's Community Coordinator - essentially the PR guy for the web-based fanbase.  So I'm not sure why you should take his word as gospel here.

If you're offered a choice of strawberry or chocolate ice cream, you might always choose strawberry. To think that because you would always choose strawberry, the choice shouldn't be there - or that there is no choice - or that the choice is worthless - is bordering on the autistic.

The beauty of it, is that if you level up by gaining XP from fighting, you can choose to improve only Coercion and not your fighting skills...

XP is really a wonderful abstraction.
