Necro'd a thread from the old BSN?
Now that's hardcore.
But I suppose I'll play along.
Miranda
Kasumi
Javik
Space Hamster
I love pretty much every non-human squad mate, only human squad mate I really like is Jack (maybe to some small extent James too), she's the goddess.
If I have to choose it's a tie between Garrus and Tali. Both are just perfect from beginning to the end.
Legion, Wrex, Grunt, garrus, I do like Kasumi, but her content is limited. TIM as a character, especialy in ME2, in the sense that he brings forth a more complex problematic relationship.
TIM:
1. Don't trust him and his trackrecord from ME1 is terrible.
2. Still don't trust him.
3. He was useful.
4. He does help move the story along.
5. He surely has ulterior motives(which we learn he has)
6. a Much more sucessful characterisation than Kai Leng.
7. Dresses better than KL. More style, flair, worldlyness.
Then we got Tali's father, who we unfortunately don't get to meet alive. Who seems to be one of the most ruthless Quarians ever, Even Gerrel tells you abotu how crazy, ruthless and careless he was. *And that's comming from a crazy person like Gerrel.
It's funny most of the galaxy considers humans to be bullies and too agressive, Gerrel considers humans meek and humble, I guess that says more about Quarians than it does for humans. Even so, he tells you how agressive and how much of a risktaker Tali's father is/was. In ME3 Gerrel commes across as the most agressive ruthless of the Admirals still around.
I guess it did help make Tali a capable squadmate and a strong person, even if she's too used to following orders. She was probably pushed harder than most Quarians as a child and her relation ship with her father sounds like it was kind of distant where she was always seeking his approval. He still seemed to care about her judging by his last words though, not wanting her to get into trouble for what he had done if anyone would learn about it.
Tali makes the list aswell. The other characters had their good sides aswell. These are the ones that pop up. among the squadmates.
Among the other NPC's, Udina, Aria, maybe Anderson, but I'm not a huge Anderson fan(I did choose him for councilor though) but tbh, he seems a little too flat and onedimentional, even with all the extended universe material. Even so, those characters are also needed in a good story because they help you see the extremity of the other characters in the story.
The normal mundane VS the extreme.
EDIT: Mordin was also a funny old man in his own way.
Does it need saying?
Miranda, TIM, Mordin, Saren, Javik, James, the original Shadow Broker, ME2 Legion...
Miranda.
Renegade romancing her is by far the most awesome thing you can do in the game. (Shepard's face after is just... glorious)

I doubt it's what you meant, but romancing her in general, especially with the inclusion of Citadel, does round out very well to a point I'd say that she's arguably the best female LI in the game, and definitely the best human LI. Her characterization's execution in ME3 stalled greatly, but I don't actually have much against the characterization itself.

Never romanced her with Citadel installed. This will happen sometime soon though, I'm about halfway through ME2 with Miranda LI ![]()

Yeah, that is one of the most defining things of their relationship. Theirs is, in my opinion, the mature relationship in the trilogy. They're both adults, and they both act like it.
Garrus stands above the rest - the ultimate bro-squadmate. I can probably count on two hands the number of times I haven't taken him with me on a mission.
"Absolutely love 'em" Tier: Tali / Wrex (a shame we didn't get more from him in ME2)
"Love 'em most of the time" Tier: Jack / Legion / Mordin / EDI / Grunt / Thane
"Sorta love 'em - they have their moments" Tier: Miranda / Liara / Kaiden / James / Zaeed / Javik
"Meh - too bland to love 'em" Tier: Jacob / Kasumi
"Actively ****** me off" Tier (aka, the Ash Tier): Ash
Aria, tali, aethyta, mordin and the commando from thessia I think are my favourites. I generally like the rest (apart from Jacob, zaeed and kasumi).
I'm warming to Miranda too.

Miranda is my number one, then comes:
TIM in ME2
Javik
Mordin
Legion
Kaidain
Garrus
I see Liara as the best LI for femshep. She probably has some of the best scenes for a character, but she loses points for the friendzoning in ME3 and being slightly weird in ME1.
I should caveat this in that I haven't tried her as a non LI (only done 3 complete trilogy runs).
Edit to add: I really like the Asari Commando as she is the only really 'ordinary' Asari we meet and is battling to save her home and her people, yet sacrifices herself to help Shep knowing she will most likely die.
Those radio calls as kai leng buggers off in his magic gunship are really sad.
