Mine is the Dalish. Was very interesting and for some reason you're showered with nice equipment. After having played through as an elven mage of the circle, and tried out the city elf origin, it was fun to finally play as an elf who scorns the shems!

Casteless Dwarf.

I was moved by the sister of the main character and his friend Leske. Leske felt like a believable friend and a partner-in-crime. The voice acting and facial expression of a dwarf also made things believable and funny. The story about how unfair the caste system is, also moved me, but not as much as the character.

The Origin inspired me to start a new character. Thus my forum avatar.

City Elf (as a female) and human and dwarf noble are the best I think.

City elf because it's a damn good story, human noble because it early portrays one of the real villains in the game, and dwarf noble because of both those reasons. :-)

I have played in order; city elf female warrior tank, human noble female 2h warrior, female elf mage heal bot, female human mage DPS most fun i have had with my clothes on, started 2 dailish rogues deleted them both i think the dailish might be ok but i do not like the rogueclass probably just don't undetstand the builds for them, female human noble tank current playthrough.

In order of preference i like the Human noble, city elf, dailish, mage origins. I have heard the dwarf origins especially the noble one is great but the thought of playing a dwarf just is something i do not want to do yet. I will eventually because i NEED the achievments to be completed, (its an OCD thing).

I have not played as a Dalish yet. My favorites are the dwarves ones as they do a good job at setting you in the various Dwarven politics (casteless = pro-Bhelen, noble = anti-Bhelen). They also set up the return to Orzammar very well as you are despised for various reasons when usually Grey Wardens are respected. The dynamic of what happens to Gorim/Leske is also very interesting as well.

I found the City Elf one very harsh, but it had a greater impact on how you were viewed to the average person as will as individual dialogue choices as you could call people out on their prejudice (like I did with Leliana).

The Human Noble was drab and boring without hardly anything happening in it.  Although it did make Howe a more major character and that was pretty cool.

The Circle one could have been better as I do not enjoy running around that tower at all.

I really liked the Male City Elf origin story... but what can I say, I'm a sap for saving the princess in the tower!

After that, I enjoyed the Mage Origin story, then Dwarf Noble and after that I like all of them equally.

for me the ones with a good story line in it were: dwarf commoner and magi.

with dwarf commoner i really had a buddy for life(lenske.. atleast i thought :P) in a world were i didnt fit in (casteless). story was great and the ammount of playtime was decent aswell.

Human noble has 3 +:

rubbing the girl in ur room.. and have her shot with a arrow was hilarious.

early dog quest is cute and cool.

Howe really is a basard and we know why... while in the other origin, i was like "Howe Who".. dunno that noble.

but 1 big -: it was to damn short.

magi: jowan story and adventure was epic .. i even forgot i was playing a origin.

It's really hard to say, all of them were each intriguing in their own way.

The one that perhaps moved me the most during the actual origin would perhaps be the Dwarven Noble story, if you played and truly wouldn't believe your elder brother would kill you. If you danced at Bhelen's tune, you would end up killing him, and you would truly be a kin-slayer, and it might only have been the matter of you not getting time to dispose of the evidence.

But if you wouldn't have any of it and denied that he would be after you, he would be killed just before you got there, the real killers gone, and you standing over his body, framed as a kin-slayer, a murder you did not commit.

Dwarf noble seems to have the most stuff in it, gave me an attachment to my character. The 'linkback' to the origin throughout the game were also pretty compelling; running into Tirion on my first time in the Gauntlet was pretty powerful. The origin story's transition to the Wardens also made a lot of sense, here: you really have nowhere else to go. Almost tempted to play this origin again, if only for that much more Gorim. ('Gorim, why is this man speaking to me?')

(Saving dwarf commoner until I'm ready to do a whole playthrough around it.)

Mage...the Harrowing was interesting, the rest of it was kind of dull. (Although telling the Tranquil "I need a rod of fire for my research into burning things" was pretty funny.) Your entrance to the Wardens feels disjointed. The tower is totally trashed so there doesn't feel like there's much special interaction there (though my female mage had an interesting scene with Cullen.) A few special conversations with Wynne, too.

Human Noble...playing this after dwarf noble, I can't help but feel this was intended as the 'starter' origin, with your easy-to-get mabari and good family sword right off the bat. Compared to being stripped of all my possessions and sealed in the Deep Roads, this seemed like a 'soft' start. However, there's more Tim Curry, which is never a bad thing. Also more options at the end, which I want to play with. (I'm curious about the Anora romance, but I can't make a human male model I like very much.)

I have played through four origins but only finished the game with a mage (and almost finished with a human noble).

Of the origins I have played the order is:

1) Dalish elf. I just loved the lore and the story made me feel like a true member of the clan. This is the next origin I'm going to play a whole game with, probably during Christmas holidays.

2) City elf. I played as a female and the story was just sad and full of discrimination and grief. Very angsty and creates a strong background for the character.

3) Human noble. I like the idea behind this origin, the whole vengeance theme is powerful. However it felt quite short and a little shallow. I still liked it though.

4) Mage. Mage is my favourite class but sadly I didn't really connect with the origin. It didn't evoke any strong feelings in me. I just couldn't make myself care about Jowan and the tower. Playing an apostate mage would be more interesting, maybe.

Dwarf noble was the best for me. The Proving is awesome, you have politics, fighting darkspawn early. I also loved how you could have Gorim talk instead of you. And the end of the origin when you get exiled as kinslayer...

Human Noble:
+ Ties in nicely into the main story.
+ Good starting equipment
+ "Don't wory Oren, You'll be able to see a sword up close soon enough. I promise."
+ Nice starting equipment.
- Not being able to look for Fergus.
- Quite short
- Not met a single Origin character during the mian quest.

Dwarven Noble:
+ Dwarven Politics
+ Gorim (both a cool guy and he is the only merchant that buys thing at twice the normal value)
+ Nice starting equipment
+ pretty long quest

Dwarven Commoner:
+ Ties in nicely to Orzammar quest line
+ good introduction to who the player has lived.
- Does not tie in well into the main quest
- weak starting equipment
-Leske

Female Dwarf Noble and Dalish

The first because Gorim's more fun if you play female. And the Dalish because where is Tamlen?!

Female City Elf is a really powerful origin. Human Noble is just... "NOOOOOOOO! I SHALL AVENGE THEE, PARENTS!" Not bad, for it's a tried and true cliché.

I just started a mage and I'm still waiting to see how that one will turn up.

City Elf (Male)

+ Nice story. I feel like a Jew in an European Medieval City.

+ Adequatly ties into the main quest.

+ Shianni (who needs Leli or Morrigan?)

+ You deserve a beating human! (to Duncan) It's just funny imagining a tiny elf threathening someone like Duncan.

- Only able to visit Alienage again during last portion of main quest.

- Becoming Bann!?!?!?!?!???

Mage:

+ Harrowing

+ Adequate starting equipment

+ the rivalry between Irving and Gregoir.

- The entire origin, except the Harrowing.

- Jowan and Lily.

- No real motivation to join the Grey Wardens when you have sided with Irving.

Dalish Elf:

+ The intro. (Die Shemlen!)

+ The elven ruins

- the return of Tamlen.

- does not tie into the main quest.

- not much people to talk to in the origin.

- Kill Vauhgn and you lose a Landsmeet vote.

My fave was human noble because it makes Arl Howe just that little bit more of an **** than he already is ;P

Dalish elf was really heartbreaking at the end when your leave your tribe :(

I loved him, thus it is way worse. Him, Gorim and Oghren with a dwarf PC should be the dream team.

Yes, if only we could have 5 at the same time, but alas.

I played them in this order:
1. Female human mage (completed, almost twice)
2. Male human noble (not completed)
3. Male Dalish elf (not completed)
4. Female City elf (almost completed)
5. Male dwarf noble (not completed)

I really liked the game from the city elves pov, but the Dwarf Noble start was probably the best so far. The mage origin was probably the one I liked the least. I have nothing against Jowan, it's just that you've lived in that tower all your life and most people treat you like a stranger.

Isn't that the noble. You find all your stuff in the crate just outside your cell after killing superguard.

same goes for noble. Just deactivate your DLC's. Load Game. Save Game. And reactivate DLC's.
