I just tested out the N7 Hurricane and even on a Turian Soldier with full weapon stability and damage bonuses using Marksman with a high caliber barrel V and heat sink V, it's doing rather unimpressive damage  against shields, which is what fast firing weapons are *supposed* to be good against.  Even if you can compensate for its absurd kickback, it's garbage and could not deal with a single gold Hunter as effectively as any heavy pistol (which are supposed to be weaker against shields!).  I am extremely disappointed with this weapon and feel rather cheated by my commendation pack.

Is there any sense in which this gun is useful?  If so, please tell me, and I will test it.

Edit:  I have done some more testing with this gun, including soloing Bronze, Silver, and the first three waves of Gold.  I carried both a Carnifex and a Hurricane with Ultralight Materials and a Heat Sink on an Asari Vanguard.  To be fair, once I removed the high caliber barrel mod (which apparently increases the kickback, something I didn't know before) and got used to handling it, I did quite a bit better, but it was still being outperformed by the Carnifex in terms of taking out enemies I charged (which would take 1-2 shots versus a short sustained burst from the Hurricane).  The Carnifex was also significantly effective against Centurions and Nemesis, since I could line up a quick headshot when they staggered and hit them down in 2-3 shots.  Considering that the Carnifex also doubled as a sniper rifle with its handy dandy scope (as opposed to needing to be right up in a staggerred enemy's face, which is what I was doing for most of my test), I find it hard to recommend the hurricane as any more than a nigh weightless ultralight materials extra.

During the test, I only used Stasis once (to check how accurate I was being, e.g. if there really was notably more damage than I was getting if I was 100% sure I was hitting with all the bullets.  There wasn't.  I'm pretty good at compensating for the kickback), and the rest of the time I was just charging enemies in fairly safe looking spots and picking them off with the pistol or the SMG to compare.

To be completely fair, I did not use any weapon and ammo mods during said test.  Perhaps the rapid firing weight would have meant something more with a proper ammo mod.  It also should be noted that my Carnifex has a few levels under its belt while the Hurricane is, obviously, level 1.

Anyways, I would be happy to upload a video of said test runs if someone could advise a good, cheap way to get videos of my XBL gameplay up somewhere.

Edit 2:  Correction, I just discovered that Ultralight Materials is bugged (taking an ultralight Hurricane boosted my Tactical Cloak cooldown from 6.9 seconds to 15.5) and does not reduce weight.  As such, I cannot recommend the Hurricane for anything, ever.  I can think of no reason to use it over any other decent close range weapon.

Not at all. I can't even kill assault troopers on bronze from more than 3 meters away without emptying the clip, the muzzle climb and spread is so bad. What a complete joke. The level 1 default auto pistol is better than this.

The kickback on this thing (and the Locust) seriously needs to get toned down. It's ridiculous and makes the weapons totally unusable.

Even a Marksman'd Turian can't hit the broad side of a barn with it..

Yep, that's my assessment of this weapon.
I can't imagine how it could be useful, in what build or by what class.

But the sound. The sound of it! That nice bzzZZZZZAPPeng ...

In SP at least it is a decent gun, though they said they would have rebalanced it for MP, guess not for the better.

That's not what I'm saying though.  I'm saying that even with compensating for the kickback with the Turian Soldier, this thing is shooting marshmallows and does not eat shields at all.  At point blank range with the most a heat sink V and high caliber barrel V will frequently not kill a Gold Geth Hunter.  If it's not useful in that situation, what situation could it POSSIBLY be useful in?

I could live with the kickback if it didn't have laughable damage against even shields and barriers.   I want a gun that shoots BULLETS not marshmallows.

I'm not sure where this "SMG's must have ridiculous kickback" thing is coming from.  What mega positive do they have to deserve such a crippling flaw?  They are worse than shotguns/snipers vs even shields, do nothing vs armor... I don't get it.

Locust? Locust's recoil isn't that bad. Are you sure you're not thinking of the Tempest?

Also you guys should be aware this is a Rank I still. I don't really expect anyone who's played gold consistently to replace their weapon with any of these, save maybe the sniper.

Pretty sure it's just venting compressed air, not even marshmallows

The hurricane is balls. I think I gave it to Liara and EDI in SP because their aim ignores recoil.

Use the Hornet without ADS. It has ridiculous sustained dps (and even more ridiculous burst dps, while we're at it).

That's where it shines. It's basically the Incisor for ME3 squadmates!

It's got to be some sick joke that I got it.

There's GOT to be another challenge. There HAS to,

The spread and climb is so bad, this stupid gun can't even be used to reliably inflict ammo status effects. What an utter failure.

Since rank only effects damage, weight, and reload time, I don't see how even a level 10 Hurricane would stop me from hitting everything in sight but whatever I'm shooting at

That recoil, just impossible, feels like i'm firing a darn .50cal full automatic without any recoil dampers straight from the hip... which would be awesome... if the damage was like a .50cal...

Does nobody hipfire in this game? The Hornet is total garbage if you don't, but amazing while moving and hipfiring. Hurricane is the same way. Put it in their face and watch it shred.

Some guns are only good for squadmates in SP. The incisor and the Hurricane are perfect examples.

Is there any sense in which this gun is useful?  Is this the way the Alliance thanks me for killing a few hundred brutes on Gold over the weekend?  I'd rather take an M-3 Predator.

I Just did this on my turian soldier. In cover, with marksman, against enemies on bronze, it was simply "decent". When a weapon is simply decent in ideal conditions, then its just another pile of junk in my armory. Seems to be a lot of these kinds of piles of junk in my armory these days.

After having looked over the smg class as a whole, all I can think of asking is "why bother?". Name anything you want a weapon to do and do well, an SMG never comes to mind.

My favorite weapon so far... and I have them all other than a Black Widow, and Javelin.

Whoever says it does crap damage is obviously terrible at the game...

I can kill 4 Assault Troopers with 1 clip on Silver... without damage upgrades.
