I doubt that.

That's not how logic works.  You claim to be good.  You have to prove that to *ME*.  Which will be difficult since good players don't cry like 16 year old girls who lost their virginity at prom and got dumped shortly after.

Man up dude.  You don't like the gun.  Fine.  Move on.  Hanging around dwelling on the subject just makes you look pathetic.

I'd love to see a video of this gun on a Turian Soldier with Marksman active firing from cover without the damage mod (which massively increases SMG rise). With the above I can snipe with a Tempest and Hornet so I'm curious to see how the Hurricane works since I got an Eagle--which I like less than the Phalanx on everybody but the Turian. Go figure.

It's good. The people complaining just aren't used to the recoil, which is fine. They will go back to using whatever gun they have always used. What isn't fine is people saying the gun sucks simply because they aren't good with it.

What he said.

Can someone actually go run some tests and get some hard numbers? These arguments are going nowhere otherwise :)   Real controlled tests, not "oh it feels like this or this". Count the bullets. Pull out stopwatches.

My squadmates always seemed to tear with it in SP, so I assumed it must be good. Oh boy was I wrong.

Speaking of hanging around, why are you still in the thread? Let's see you owning gold with the hurricane. That would stop this thread dead in its tracks.

With all of Mass Effect's telescoping weapon widgets, you'd think someone would have made a telescoping stock mod that reduces recoil on SMGs...

Why would I do that? It's a waste of time. I enjoy using the gun. I used it a lot in single player and I'd say I'm used to the recoil. If you don't like it then hope you get a weapon you do like next weekend. I'm not hoping to make a career out of playing this game at mlg tournaments or something so spending hours testing different guns to see which is the absolute best sounds like a huge waste of time.

I was not aware that the damage mod increased SMG rise.  Do you have a source reference for this, by the way?

Anyways, I am still having a hard time figuring out what I would use this for.  If it's intended for "only point blank range," it seems like a disappointment when compared to shotguns (which, incidentally, are frequently capable of headshots at mid range and even acting as a pseudo-sniper in the case of the Geth Plasma Shotgun), even considering the Ultralight Materials weight.  I suppose I will test it out with my Vanguard though.

I'm using it with the boosted clip size and spare shot mod, does fine with me. I can take on an Atlas on gold on my own with no problems using my Salarian Engie. Great gun, just take your time shooting it in burst.

I went into a silver game versus the geth on Firebase Giant to try out my new Hurricane. Two other players had it equipped as their main weapon as well. We failed on round 3.. I don't think any of us were expecting that much recoil.

You can take down at Atlas on gold with no problems using a heavy pistol, too.  What advantage does the Hurricane offer?

Edit:  Just tested it with my vanguard, and it doesn't seem to complement as well as a shotgun, which will unload similar damage in a quicker, more accurate burst and let you get right back to charging.

I regularly play a Turian Soldier with a Tempest as primary weapon. It's not a particularly subtle difference when you're scoped in.

Okay, did some more tests all difficulties.

Bronze and Silver, fine and dandy. It feels like an Tempest with less accuracy, higher ROF, which is fine.

Gold? Not so hot. Shields become unbearable obstacles and even the regular grunts can take upwards of a mag and a half. Pretty much unusable, unfortunately. Still, I don't think we're missing much, it sounds like all these weapons kinda... suck.

I'm having a question here.

Does the Hurricane for everyone here also NOT auto-correct the muzzle climb after you stop firing? What I mean is, if you fire a short burst and the muzzle climbs, after you stop firing does the muzzle/reticule lower itself again to the level it was before the burst?

Because for me it doesn't, which is completely the opposite of pretty much every other gun in every other game I fired. With high recoil weapons you usually fire them in bursts. So you aim, burst, muzzle climbs a bit, then goes down again to where you aimed before, burst and continue. The way the Hurricane works, if you do not constantly aim downwards, you end up shooting straight up after a few bursts. It's like if you shot your first shot with the Mantis, the weapon recoiled but would get stuck at the highest point.

I'm having a really hard time, apart from the completely ridiculous muzzle climb when zoom-aiming, even when hip-firing, because I expect the reticule to lower itself after I stop firing but it never does.

I know I'm not missing.  I stasised the buggers for my damage tests, walked straight up, put the gun in their face, and unloaded.  The damage made me sad.

I wanted the eagle or crusader. I would have been content with the valiant. Instead, I got this piece of ****. I really got screwed over with this pack.  Oh well.

(I have the collector's edition and experience with this crappy gun.)

I thought grayrest might be right. So I tried it. Used the thermal clip and scope mods, and as some were saying, aimed from the hip instead of aiming down the sight.

Bronze, vs. geth troopers. Pathetic. Just pathetic. It felt like the N7 Candy Cane was spraying cotton balls. I had to get right in something's face to hurt it, and even then it took awhile.

It's not that I can't shoot. I'm good with the geth pulse rifle, raptor, carnifex... lots of headshots, plenty of deaths. But this thing kicks like a mule. Anyone who says it's good or they're good with it must be either kidding themselves or just outright lying. I never believed those guys who boasted they could kill someone with a handkerchief either.

If anyone thinks I just can't aim--prove it with a VIDEO. Solo bronze for us and show us how much this gun supposedly owns. Stop with the smug, juvenile self-congratulation some proponents of the gun have been displaying, stop with the proclamations of how we suck and you rock and put your money where your mouth is. Make a VIDEO guide to kicking ass with the Hurricane, including your character and its build as well as showing us you have no special one-use equipment mods applied, just the normal SMG mods installed into the gun, and show us which ones.

Otherwise, I'm going to continue believing that this gun is a complete piece of crap, because I have tested it and I know what I saw.

The crusader really stands out.  It is as accurate as a sniper rifle and hits hard.  Unfortunately, it's heavy as a truck.

Really? So the one people were crying over receiving is the best of the bunch? Huh. Well, no complaints from me, regardless. It was free and I had fun getting it.

That would be the Valiant.

But the Crusader is definitely the second best.

I can't post a video since I lack the equipment, but I didn't have any problem shredding bronze guys with it.  But then, I would have shredded them FASTER with a different gun, and on Gold it took me a silly amount of time to put down a mere Centurion that was stasised at point blank range with all shots hitting.

A quick test on bronze had me easily soloing everything, but on the other hand, it was BRONZE.

Edit:  Just did a quick test on Silver, and it definitely shreds on Silver too.  No offense, but you might actually just have trouble aiming if you're not able to get it to work on Bronze.  I still am underwhelmed by this gun.  Using a heavy pistol I was able to achieve similar results on Gold at close range, but without the limitation of needing to be in close range.

Note:  I tested with an Asari Vanguard with no special equipment, weapon and headshot bonuses in training, and Stasis Bubble.  I only used the stasis bubble once, (to test the full damage potential of the weapon and make sure I was not actually missing).  I then proceeded to solo the first two waves of Gold using only the Biotic Charge and the Hurricane SMG, and I was extremely disappointed.  Firing at point blank range, I killed things more slowly than I did when I had a Carnifex as a sidearm (which always took 1-2 shots to the body on a trooper after hitting with biotic charge, whereas the tempest used up many bullets).

In summary, I was hitting and killing with the Hurricane, but I didn't see why I should use it over alternative weapons, except perhaps that it's an Ultralight Materials candidate.

However, I did my tests without ammo bonuses.  Maybe a different ammo type would make it more useful?
