Just looking for some new ideas on how players can set up tactics for Morrigan. I've always been surprised on how other players have set up tactics in ways that I had never thought of. Keep in mind I'm not very far into the game so I don't have the more advanced spells for her.

Here's mine:

Custom 1

Self -> Mana or stamina <25% -> Use least powerful lyrium potion (most powerful for bosses set to Custom 2)

Self -> Surrounded by at least 2 enemies -> Mind Blast

Self -> Being attacked by melee -> Horror

Ally -> Health <50% -> Heal

Enemy -> Target of Alistair -> Hex

Enemy -> Target of Alistair -> Lightning

Enemy -> Target of Alistair -> Arcane Bolt

Personally, I wouldn't rely on the AI to run a damage-dealing mage. You can get it running a healer alright, but for Morrigan I just have a rudimentary script that keeps her doing something useful when I grab the rogue to position them for a backstab or something.

Least powerful lyrium potion when out of mana
Mind blast when surrounded by 3 or more enemies
Lightning on target of controlled character
Attack enemy with lowest health

The last line is in there to finish off enemies that a two-handed user has knocked down to a little sliver - it's generally not worth the time for the two-hander to take the whole swing to finish them off.

lightning seems a bit risky to use in AI in my opinion. the whole "friendly fire" thing keeps me using stuff like winter's grasp and horror for AI. however, I tend to micromanage my mages, so I tend to do a lot of moving her around for cone of cold, lightning bolt and the cone of flame spell (forgot the name)

I the current playthrough I never really used her, but here is a rundown on the last character where she was a core member of the team.

Below 50% of health (either her or an ally) Heal,

Below 75% regeneration

Below 25% self; Drain Life

Below 25% ally: Stam/Mana - Major rej. (Or whatever is the name, the one that affects every party member)

Target of Warden (who was a semi tank-dps): hex

Attacked by enemy: Crushing Prison ("Hey bandit, you asked for it!)

Nearest visible mage: Lightning Bolt, Arcane bolt

Basically she was a support/healer role character with some heavy damaging abilities if the enemy is tough. As for the AoE spells, I usually used them for some nasty damage, though these are something I'd never leave for the AI to handle. Same with the potions. All that in Normal difficulty, pre-patch.

On hard, I only assign healing and debuffs to AI, I prefer to handle the rest manually.

Current:

Self: Health < 50% : Group Heal
Self: Health < 25% : Use healing poultice
Ally: Health < 25% : Heal
Self: Clustered with at least three allies* : Affliction Hex
Enemy: Target Rank is Elite or higher: Sleep
Enemy: Nearest visible : Sleep
Enemy: Sleeping : Horror
Enemy: Nearest Visible : Paralyze
Enemy: Nearest Visible : Vulnerability Hex
Enemy: Target using melee or ranged attack: Weakness
Enemy: Target using melee or ranged attack: Disorient
Enemy: Health < 50% : Winters Grasp

* I don't think this option can be selected from the menu, I got it from using one of the presets. (Self: Clustered with at least three allies)

I have cone of cold as well but I only use it manually, same with lyrium pots.

I have Wynn as a full time healer. I mainly have Morrigan cycle through single target damage dealing spells like Arcane Bolt, Lightning Bolt and Winter's Grasp then attack. I have her cast hex if the target is an elite or higher. Otherwise I control her manually for CCs and stuff.
