At the same time there was only one real way to end ME2 and have it continue the story, Shepard living through the suicide mission.
I like IT since it's cool and I'd like to have seen it implemented since it would inevitably lead to more endings, but I'm equally fine with just getting not horrible endings.
Personally, and I'm not speaking for anyone else but myself, ME2 is the most rewarding ending to a game I've ever played. I had to prepare for it, and my work paid off in a spectacular way: the entire team came together, beat the odds, and came out alive (but, at the same time, you can get everyone killed, even Shep...no point, but it's possible).
There were elements of preparation involved that actually affected the outcome. Yes, the story plays out the same, but having Garrus take a rocket to the face vs having him not take a rocket to the face is within your power to control. That didn't really happen in ME3, not to any of the major characters, at least.
At this point, I'd like to see two things: more ending choices, ranging from awful to pure goodness, or an apology / an open acknowledgment that they messed up. Those, to me, would be ideal.
