And for comaparison, ME2 in the UK dropped 62% in week 2.

Oh plz use the UK charts for ME2 if you are going to use any

30th January 2010 1 176,438 N/A 176,438
06th February 2010 2 67,222 -61.9% 243,660

Of course, ME3 did way bigger numbers in its first week  so a larger drop is logical. So what I'm asking is whether you think a 74% drop is normal or is the ending controversy hurting sales?

Not relevant IMO.

I would imagine its normal given the huge release, most people who are going to buy it, tend to buy it in the first week.

I dont know numbers but I'd imagine MOST games have significant second week drop off.

Most games like this do around 33% 50% of their sales day 1. It's not that surprising, maybe disapointing, I don't think ME3 is as big as they hoped/predicted.

I'm with you. Mainstream just buys what's new. This is not relevant at all.

Too early to tell if this is an actual effect on the game's future.

Doesn't look good.

DA2 dropped 66% in the second week. DA1 dropped 47%.

ME3 dropped more than DA2. Hmm....

I don’t think this is good for them ,not with the huge add campaign . Only time will tell ,but this and the price drop plus our big mouths . I can’t imagine them not feeling a little shaky .

U.S. sales down over 80% according to http://www.vgchartz....ekly/40986/USA/

Net sales of 282,697 for the week compared to 1,471,380 the first week which is a drop of 80.8%

Considering ME2 dropped over 70% on much less volume in the second week, it's probably not causing many alarm bells in Bioware.

I would say this is very relevant seeing DA2 sales didnt even drop this low in the second week

Yup bioware while Dragon Ages Origin kept a steady selling charts over time, your other games went full retarded on the second week.
I guess your artistic view....Is down the hill.

Doesn't really matter. Most Bioware games lately drop alot of percentage after 1 week.

because nobody wants to get a second version of the game they already got and then there's people who just don't want it?

It does say something about the bad press the ending is getting but not as much as it looks like it does. The die hard Mass Effect fans get the game as soon as possible. The groups that come later are held up by various reasons like lack of funds, inconvenient timing, ect.

They ARE fooling themselves if they think the ending they choose matched with the over promising hype of the game and its subsequent bad press due to the ending isn't affecting sales.

I guess that is what you get when you deviate from the lore and plot when you design a trilogy.

Looking at DA2's chart versus DA1/ME2, it looks like the big difference comes about week 4/5 where in a well-like games there is a bounce in sales. That bounce didn't happen in DA2. It'll be interesting to see how ME3's chart turns out.

I don't know how bad it is but it doesn't seem good either. All 2nd week sales for ME3 are at the low end of the range.

If after 5 weeks the sales have dropped like DA2, BW should worry. If the sales keep stable or go up, theres nothing to worry about

Maybe a big deal, It probably has something to do with the ending thing.
Chart needs source listed.

This game had much bigger first week sales than any other Bioware game so of course there's going to be a larger drop-off. As of now there's no indication of anything good or bad in that statistic.
